The food in this restaurant is exceptional. It is a bit loud and crowded, and the chairs didn’t seem that sturdy. But the service was great and as I said, the food is so good it makes you forget all those other things.
Great food and friendly staff -- only problem is the wait time even with reservations.
My wife and I went for my birthday. There was no wait to be seated. You eat at close quarters, and the place is lively. We waited a bit for our orders, and the staff initially brought the wrong wine, but mistakes happen, and our waiter was very apologetic. We shared Insalata “NICO” (arugula, grilled pears, walnuts, Gorgonzola cheese, pomegranate vinaigrette): Excellent. I had Rigatoni con Carciofi e Salsicca, which was also excellent. My wife had Pollo/Vitello al Marsala, which was good, but the chicken was a bit tough. We took home what we could not finish. We would return and aim for a quieter night.
Family in town from Colorado and Indiana.
Our waiter James was excellent and the hostess Valentina wonderful. The food sss great and we went two nights in a row. Awesome place.
We were in Boston for a special occasion and ate at Nico’s early, around 5:30pm. It was quiet at first, making us nervous, but the place filled up by the time we finished eating our meals.
The food is good - fresh, flavorful, and prepared well.
The service was friendly and helpful.
The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous.
Quick note: they don’t have a full bar - mostly wines and flavored vodkas, etc.
The appetizer special was outstanding: a burrata dish with mozzarella and prosciutto. Was too busy eating to remember snapping a photo ;)
Nico doesn't disappoint. Nestled in the heart of the North End, we brought some colleagues and two kids to experience a night out. We all ate WAY too much of our generously appointed meals and raved about it all: service, food, space - they do it right.
Food is consistantly good. We were seated downstairs....dark, loud, tv on wall.....not a very good North End ambiance. Service started off good. Once place filled up it was slow and not very attentive.
Great restaurant! Best meatballs ever!! Service was excellent. They made my daughter’s birthday very special.
Hostess was not friendly but the food was amazing.
Beware that the OpenTable menu for Nico has very inaccurate prices. For instance the veal chop was $12 more, veal parm was $11 more, everything was considerably more. Also Nico's online menu does not list prices. This may be no big deal for a small party, but with a party of 7 this is a sizable difference. The food was delicious, service was attentive and friendly. I would recommend this place for fantastic North End food but beware of substantial price differences.
Great food. All recommendations were excellent.
Great lunch on the 4th.
The four of us had a fantastic meal at Nicos. The best Chicken Marsala in my life. Excellent service, great wine list and impeccable service. What more could you ask for? You need to eat here to see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
Rosato was our server and he was awesome. We had the Eggplant parmigiana special with fusilli and it was out of this world !!
I took my wife to Nico’s to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary. I could NOT have picked a nicer place. The food was spectacular. Our server Alex was the friendliest and most attentive server anyone could ever ask for. Nico’s made the evening perfect!
Very easy to get reservation, excellent overall experience, will certainly try again
Very tight quarters... almost no room for the plates on the table. But the food is so fantastic- you dont care.
The food and service were awesome. Only minor issue was table was very small for the party size we had. Also Valet is very expensive.
This is my second visit to Nico and both have been exceptional. Great service and great, rich, delicious Italian food. This spot is a bit further down Hanover St. so I feel it may be less trafficked by crowds and tourist and thus, a bit of a gem for those who know it's worth the short walk down. Upstairs and downstairs is available - I prefer upstairs because it has some windows, more open air.
The food was fantastic! We really enjoyed the experience.
Food was excellent. We always eat at Nico’s when visiting Boston. We are never disappointed!
Ask for street level rather than downstairs- better atmosphere- reservations early help - we did a week ahead
Overall great, homemade pasta the best. Didn’t love our meals as much as previous visit. I had spaghetti w/ vongole fra diavolo. Not spicy at all and clams not the best but okay. Husbands veal parm was good as usual, but not special.
I will come back for sure
We went out for a Friday night date and date downstairs for dinner. The service was impeccable and the food was exceptional. Our server was so helpful offering his favorite items and delivered the BEST specials ever (Caprese was amazing). Love this place!
The food at Nico's is fine, however, we were seated in what looked and smelled like a damp basement. Very disappointing. I would not reccomend this to anyone visiting Boston. There are far better places in the North End with better food and much nicer ambiance.
We sat at a window seat and it was a very nice night. The restaurant is across from a fire station so it could get pretty loud if there is an emergency.
I thought the food and wine were great and much more reasonable than other places in the north end but same quality.
It was my daughter birthday
My cousin and I had a disappointing experience at Nico’s. I had been to the restaurant previously and, in contrast, haha lovely experience, and so this was my second dining experience there—a return visit. Despite ordering the same dishes to share that I had previously split with a friend on my first visit, we experienced rude reactions from our server when we chose dishes (an appetizer and a high-priced entree) to split, rather than ordering appetizers and entrees of our own. In addition to receiving judgmental responses from our server via tone, facial expressions, and protestations that the dishes would not be big enough to share (they were in fact very large and plenty split between us) we had to request sharing plates for our entree.
The food was delicious! Service wasn’t the best. It was my birthday, and even though acknowledging that in the reservation it was ignored. The one thing where the server stood out was being hyper aware of my food allergy.
Service was great. Food was excellent. Loved it.
Our go to north end restaurant is always Nico! Just be prepared for a wait even with the reservation, but the food and service is well worth it.
Enjoyed our meal very much! Service was overall good, our waiter was very personable and attended to our needs. It did get a little warm near the end of the meal with the larger crowd and sun shining in the restaurant. Overall a great meal!
Nico is my favorite North End Restaurant for taking out of town guests and businesses associates for an authentic Italian North End experience. The food is always excellent and the service is outstanding!
Road crews were working outside the restaurant and was loud and smelled like tar. Not the restaurant’s fault but the food was poor. Ordered egg plant parmigiana and the pasta was served cold. The eggplant was decent but not worth the price. Had two other meals in the area and were great and Nico was disappointing.
Service and food were excellent.
Everything was excellent as we celebrated our 45 th year of graduation out of college.
Nico is fine. Sit upstairs, it'll make all the difference. We ended up sitting in the basement, which, usually I may not mind except for a few things; It was gorgeous outside, and the upper floor had the windows open and the beautiful weather spilling in. We sat in the basement with a birthday party of 12, it made it a very loud space.
