Located within Lincoln Park, at the edge of a pond overlooking Chicago's dramatic skyline, North Pond can easily claim the city's loveliest setting. Inspired by the market, Chef Bruce Sherman utilizes exceptional ingredients at the height of their season. His cuisine reflects the Arts & Crafts decor of the dining room - complex layers of subtle craft beneath a simple decorative style.

This restaurant continues to be one of my favorites. I would go here just for the location and ambience alone, even if the food was sub-par.

The menu has been expanded slightly to include some additional seafood options, which is a plus for non-meat eaters.

Excellent wine list, and great service. What’s not to like?

We celebrated our anniversary at North Pond and could not have been more impressed with their care to our evening. Our names were printed on the menus and on our complimentary dessert. The food was delicious, though the beef was not Wagyu, but rather NY strip and very tough. The shrimp romaine salad was unbelievably savory yet light and the pasta, mustard was exquisite. Our highest compliments to the bartender whose drinks were perfection. Especially the rum, apricot. If only our reservation had been in the front room with a view instead of next to the kitchen whose loud colorful language was unexpected, but thoroughly entertaining. Definitely worth their weight in Michelin stars.

As always, the food was creative and delicious, from the tiny scone to start, to the lemon dessert, everything was well thought out, beautifully presented and tasty. The service was great, the setting beautiful (didn’t hurt that we had a lovely sunny day), and the extra touches for the birthday girl much appreciated.

Incredible experience. I did the tasting menu, in which 4/5 of the items were some of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. A little pricey, but incredible quality.

A real gem. Service is excellent. Food wonderful and atmosphere hard to beat. View of Lincoln park with Chicago skyline is hard to beat if you get to sit in the lightest room (Request!). Easy valet parking one block away. Make sure to go on their website for directions. Don't miss this gem.

Outstanding. Every course on the tasting menu was interesting, fresh and delicious. Ambiance was lovely. Hope to return again and again.
The only weak point was the wine pairing, which I would not do again. Wines were only okay and arrived WAY too far ahead of the course they were paired with. At 2 oz a pour, the wine was almost gone by the time the paired course arrived.

One suggestion - the chef could be a bit more flexible when it comes to customer requests.

Easter three course. None were outstanding. All plated beautifully but food lacked any thing worth $89.
The main course fish was bland with no flavoring. Not even seared. Just a piece of fish. Waitress was great tho. Very attentive. It was the food that not ‘wow’ disappointing for the occasion ( nothing Easter-y) and the price.

Beautiful setting. Outstanding food and service. If you want a romantic dining experience look no further. The beautiful walk through the park to the restaurant (a former warming house for the pond) sets you up for a flavor explosion of expertly prepared sophisticated dishes in an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The service is friendly, attentive and next level. For example, the server knew we had dined at North Pond before and what our food restrictions were without asking. Don't miss the Charcuterie.

I have been going to North Pond off an on for the last 14 years. The food has always been extraordinary, beautifully prepared, perfectly seasoned, and impeccably presented. Simply, the kitchen is amazing.
Sadly, the rest of the experience no longer lives up to the performance from the kitchen. The service is slow and uninspired. The bar is just going through the motions. Sadly, unless I hear something has changed in the front of the house, I am doubtful that I will ever go back.

The restaurant was loud. The menu was indecipherable because it used a lot of French words and terms. The food was very tasty but super fussy. Some experiments were unsuccessful, such as the lapsang sushong ice cream. Its overwhelming flavor was smoke and no flavors of tea came through at all. Portions were very small. The halibut, the most straightforward dish, was exceptional. I feel like their approach to hyper constructed haute cuisine would benefit from paring back some, and concentrating on well executed basics.

Went for my friend’s birthday and they had her name on the menu...she was really excited and impressed. Phenomenal meal...a real treat. But definitely something you only want to do once in a while. Every plate was really good, but by dessert we were wondering why they felt the need to put at least 14 different flavors on every plate. It is delicious, absolutely, but gets a bit overwhelming.

Had a great time at North Pond. Fine dining experience without being too pretentious. The two of us went for a nicer night out so we ordered a lot - but honestly could get just get a couple of entrees and dessert (must get!) and left pretty full without hitting the wallet too hard. Delicious food beautifully plated, great wine, pretty prairie style decor with a real fireplace, and so on. Would definitely go again!

The food was a work of art and simply delicious. Every staff we encounter was attentive and profissional, made us feel welcome and cared for. The location, right in the park, is unique and beautiful, as well as the building itself. Worth the money for a special occasion, and very reasonably priced in comparison to other fine dinning restaurants in town. More suitable for romantic dinners.

The restaurant was recommended to us by a chef at a cooking class. What a fabulous find! The brunch meal was 3 courses of exquisitely prepared gourmet plates. The staff was friendly and very attentive and the decor is straight out of a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright estate. Too bad we live in the NW suburbs or we would go every weekend. What a hidden-in-plain-sight gem!

Very disappointed in the chefs tasting menu this time. The dishes had very minimal flavor and there wasn’t nearly enough seasoning. We have been to North Pond 3 times before this and each time, we try the tasting menu. This time, however, I left feeling dissatisfied with the food. At $90+ per person, it was not worth it

North Pond remains, after many years, one of our favorite restaurants in the country. Excellent, knowledgeable service; a menu that reflects the chef's creativity and care, and that brings the freshest and best ingredients to every dish; and a gorgeous setting in a historic building all add up to a terrific experience every time.
