Restauranteur Shawn Virene put the POP into Houston with his wildly successful a’Bouzy. This champagne-fueled spot located in the tony River Oaks neighborhood of town attracts a stylish crowd all day. WORST BIRTHDAY DINNER!!! Made reservations on a Sunday night. Made note in my reservation I was celebrating my birthday. When we sat down our waitor took our drink order. Enjoyed the ambiance. Drinks took a while to come, overheard that there was one bar tender, no big deal I understand circumstances when it’s short staffed. After apps, waitor was not attentive. Did not bother to express what we may be interested on the menu. Which is fine I guess. We ordered food and told him we wanted to see the menu again to order another round of drinks. He never came back. Our dinner came out 25 mins later. My food was cold. Waiter came back and finally asked for our drinks but it was too late because we wanted wine to go with our dinner. Nobody asked us how our meal was. Water ran out and finally after we were already finished with our meal someone came and gave us more water. Finally waiter came back with the check and asked us if we wanted dessert. He already had the check ready for us to pay so of course we wanted to get out since the whole time the waiter was not being sincere. The quickest turn around all night was when he swiped our card. I had to go find the manager after we paid and let him know how upset we were with our experience. We’ve celebrated birthdays at A’Bouzy before and the staff made an effort!! I felt like it wasn’t even normal service. I am so heart broken. The managers response was “oh we can give you another birthday another time” really??? Pay more money and you ruin your one chance???? I was in tears and the valet was trying to help me and my boyfriend and he was upset for us after hearing how terrible our special night out went. The manager did not feel upset for how horrible the service was. There was no mention of my birthday even though it was in the RSVP notes. The waiter did not even ask us if we were celebrating anything. They just wanted us to order and pay up. Unbelievable. I will never return ever again.

Wonderful birthday dinner experience! Cocktails were outstanding! Appetizers of escargot, bone marrow, octopus and salmon roe were delicious. Had seafood pot pie, duck, veal cutlet pasta, trout and Bouillabaisse. All were pretty good except the trout. Seafood in pot pie and soup were fresh but soup base a little saltier than desired. Trout was not bad but not great either. Could be too much breading on the trout so the fish didn’t stand out. Desserts of lava chic cake and bread pudding were tasty. The bread pudding was more like a French toast though.

The server domonick took care of us , super knowledgeable. Cool guy definitely will be coming back . Manager was amazing I wish I could remember his name but we went yesterday & the manager was for sure setting the tone for service standards, hosting in all aspects. Took some photos for us ( he just offered) and was really welcoming. Loved it

Our favorite place for Sunday brunch. Delicious food, efficient service, lively atmosphere, and a great patio (when the weather cooperates!). My favorite dishes are the PEI oysters on the half-shell and corn beef hash. Top that with cold champagne and you’ve got a brunch to remember.

Anniversary for me & my girlfriend and it was amazing. We spent about $115 for two appetizers and entrees with a drink included. Definitely worth the occasion. I would come again but for brunch next time.

We had 2 birthdays the week prior and when making the reservation I put the note in there however the restaurant did nothing special. (First time to visit and not for sure if the do) 2 of our orders came out wrong and was almost done when they arrived with the new orders. Every time we needed something we had a flag down the waiter. I understand that restaurants are short staffed but when you spend $260.00 on brunch for 4 I expect good service.

Brunch: pommes frites with fried egg = delicious. Fries were the best I’ve had in Houston - they use duck fat. Avocado toast smothered in siracha = Couldn’t taste the avocado because of siracha, toast was soggy, egg was missing. Bloody Mary okay but only if you like horseradish in yours. Good alcohol to OJ ratio on mimosas. Waitstaff was slammed.

We had dinner with another couple and everything was great except for the waiter. As a start, he asked us what we wanted to eat roughly ten times. He was quick with his moves and loud as a loudspeaker. He forgot to bring coffee and dessert that we ordered and then acted as though he didn’t know about it. Then he spilled the coffee on the table and left it there without an apology and disappeared. We had to call him back for another coffee.

Our party of 4 was celebrating President’s Day at brunch! We started with Tuna Watermelon Sashimi, Popcorn Shrimp, Deviled Eggs and Circus Cauliflower. All were shared and so very delicious!! Cocktails of a mimosa, a Paloma and a Cosmopolitan complimented our food perfectly! Our entrees consisted of a special omelet, the Gran Slam consisting of 2 eggs, corn grits, brunch potato, bacon & toast. Another ordered mussels. All were perfectly prepared and consumed. If you want delicious French food perfectly prepared with a large selection of wine and cocktails, a’Bouzy is the place for you.
