   We had an incredible time at Agave celebrating Mother’s Day. The ambiance is lively, the food is delicious, and the service was terrific! Highly recommend!

   Service was slow to start - we sat for at least 10 minutes before our server appeared, but it was friendly after that. For the two of us, we ordered a salad to share and two entrees. After a long wait, they brought out the salad AND the entrees together. Even a discount chain restaurant knows you bring the salad/appetizers first and time the entrees to come out after those have been consumed. Some basic re-training is needed here. Also, even though they're going for an upscale vibe, the custom of putting chips on the table as soon as we sit down should be standard in any Mexican restaurant. It's a nice-looking establishment but the amateurish operations make it hard to recommend.

   The food was delicious. The portions were a little small but very tasty. The drinks were not that good but overall I would say we had a good time. The ambiance was festive but they had 2 large parties which caused our waiter to not be as intensive as w would have liked. The spacing is small so they did not leave enough space to accommodate the parties they had.

   Our server really rushed us, even though the restaurant was less than 1/2 full. Annoying. He kept interrupting us to take our drink order, appetizer order, and entree order. Not sure why he was in such a hurry !

   Absolutely delicious food, very good cocktails, but the service was disorganized. At least three times servers brought food to us that wasn't our order - aren't the tables numbered so you know where they go? No wine list, and it took asking two servers for what was on offer Good place if you're seeing a show at the Paramount, as long as you aren't in a hurry. We enjoyed it, but the service does need to ramp it up a bit

   Tables for more than two could be arranged better. Was very noisy, but may be because it was Cinco de Mayo. Food was good, service was good, value average. They had a band, but I don't think that is normal.

    Met with dear friend Lisa and we started with a margarita per our waiter Martín. He came back and we ordered some quacamole with chips. I had a flank steak with onions and mushrooms wrapped inside of the steak. Lisa had 2 fish tacos.

    The whole fish with chimichurri special was so delicious! I'm watching what I eat, so I appreciated that the fish was served with brussel sprouts and asparagus that were well seasoned as well.

    Lovely meal, though we had booked an outdoor table and were then told that none of the gas heaters had gas (sounded a bit suspicious — they had all been removed from the outdoor patio). In any case, if a restaurant is going to accept outdoor reservations in the Bay Area, it really should make a point of having working outdoor heaters. Food and drinks were delicious.

    Excellent food & very good service. Was a bit expensive for a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids). Quiet and low noise level for dinner at 6pm. Will definitely go back.

    We like the food. The waiter was attentive and capable although a little over the top and could stand to chill out on the exuberance. The full bar is not a full bar if you can’t make a vodka martini. I get that the priority is tequila but don’t say full bar if you don’t have one. Mezcal is a horrible way to ruin tequila drinks, but that’s an aside. I’m complaining a little too much. The food was delicious and we had a nice evening.

    I have been going to Agave since they opened. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all on a Sunday evening. It took them at least 5 mins before they came over to our table. After taking our drink order the bartender stood behind the counter talking to a customer for at least 10 mins and never started to make a drink. I had to call my waiter to the table and ask him when does the bartender plan to stop talking and start working. The bartender was told by the waiter we had been waiting. Now the urgency was in full swing. It was definitely an off night.

    Great place, will go again. Excellent food with unique flavors, great mezcal selections and cocktail creativity. Parking is always a question in a downtown location, but it seems a couple of lots were within a couple of blocks.

    We had a reservation for 12 but went to 16 right before lunch. The poor staff had to make the adjustment but they did it with a smile, effortlessly. We had a great lunch. Food, servers and drinks were perfect.

    So happy to have Agave available for dinner in downtown Oakland; they consistently offer interesting food at reasonable prices, and their pitcher of "skinny" margaritas is not to be missed.

    A group of us had lunch here and had the special of the day... branzino sea bass... SO DELICIOUS! Margaritas and mocktail pomegranate lemondate was excellent! The staff, including bartender, were so friendly and attentive. We are definitely coming back, and brining more friends for sure! Tanks Agave Uptown! HAPPY PLACE!

    The ONLY complaint I have is that I wish there were more shrimp tacos. Two did not seem enough. The guacamole was amazing and the margarita was delicious. Churros and ice cream for desert was so good. Will definitely return when in town.

    The staff was amazing. They were attentive and friendly. We initially had reservations for 10 people in the patio and they were able to change it and set us up inside due to weather change. The food was delicious. Over all an amazing experience!

    It can be tricky to go to Agave on a night when it is swamped with people going to a show at the Fox Theater. Our wait person tried to rush us from the moment we sat down. I had to explain to her that Agave is not McDonald’s. It is a place to go for a full dining experience- a nicer restaurant.

    Food was outstanding as was the service. They were slammed by the crowd going to the Paramount. Amazingly everything was perfect as though every seat wasn’t filled. We hadn’t eaten here in a number of years and it was a fabulous dining experience. This will become one of our go to restaurants.
