It was a bit disappointing that our table wasn’t ready for us and then another 20 minutes before drinks we on the table.
The staff were all amazing. We got the “feed me” menu which was delicious. Fun night out all around. ☺️
Made food kid friendly for us which was so helpful. A great atmosphere but quite noisy. Waiter was super helpful and made great recommendations! BAo buns were all great. Beef excellent!
Had the feed me luxe menu and we all rated the food as outstanding. Yum!
Great food and great service. Will be going back.
Fantastic experience and delicious food! Staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely recommend and return.
Lindon served us tonight and his service was EXCEPTIONAL! Friendly, funny, polite, and attentive. Could not fault the service.
We’re regulars and choose some meals we’ve had often. We were a little disappointed that the barramundi lacked the buttery topping of the past and the edamames didn’t quite have the same kick, but regardless it was all still delicious and we gladly ate it all.
As usual, we’ll be back!🤗
We enjoyed our birthday celebration with beautiful food that was presented exquisitely and tastes absolutely delicious! Our waitress was flawless, best service!! The Saki waiter with cart was also brilliant. Such a fun night and a culinary delight as always!!!
Fantastic service from the gentlemen behind the bar. Would nom every night if we could afford it.
Consistently great food and service.
Had the feed me option - we loved everything.
I will definitely be back!
A vibrant, modern Asian fusion restaurant, with high tables and stools. Staff are bright and helpful.
Such a great restaurant and bar. Have been a few times now and the food, service and vibe never disappoint. Highly recommended 👍
Delicious and quick in between shows and the Canberra Theatre
Very enjoyable night. Food was absolutely delicious. Can not speak highly enough about the quality of food.
They mixed up our orders multiple times but we adapted and had whatever came out
Akiba is delectable Japanese-inspired fusion cuisine at reasonable prices. And not in tiny quantities but refreshingly satisfying serves. Go when it is not too busy as it can be pretty crammed up in there at peak periods with office-workers
First of all, we booked Akiba after googling ‘Ramen in Canberra’. Our visit started off with disappointment after hearing that the ramen was not on the dinner menu. This first interaction was sadly not redeemed through our experience.
We went to Akiba for our anniversary which we did specify upon booking. Not sure why there was an occasion option because it didn’t change the service.
We were excited to dine at Akiba because the vibe and atmosphere was buzzing and cozy. A packed out restaurant is usually a great sign for us.
The service staff were friendly, but we were mislead into ordering more food than we could possibly eat. After being told the chicken, fried rice, edemame, dumplings and Chinese broccoli was only a small amount of food for two people, we were suggested to order more dishes. This had us feeling a bit cheated.
The warm sake tasted like watery vinegar so we only had one sip each. The edemame was great, only it wasn’t brought out with a bowl to put the peels in. Very messy and not COVID safe as we had to pile the peels on the table.
The chicken was incredibly disappointing as it was somehow dry and mushy at the same time. No crunch, no tenderness.
We barely touched the octopus as it was very rubbery and cold. On top of that it looked like someone has just came all over that dish. Wouldn’t recommend.
The fried rice was nice but we’ve had better a fraction of the cost. We’d have to say the Chinese broccoli was the highlight of our meals and even that was over seasoned.
The waitstaff didn’t come back to our table to check up on us nor clear the table after we had been given our meals. I will say that despite their lack of presence and misleading us to order more, the waitstaff were well-presented and pleasant.
We regretted going to Akiba for our anniversary.

Ran out of squid but only told us after all other meals had arrived. The chicken was average too. Just tasted like boiled onions. Rest of food was good though. Pretty disappointed to not have been told about squid until other food arrived as we would have gone somewhere else
I was literally putting food in my mouth and was asked if I wanted to take anything home! Essentially asking us to leave politely even though they took so long to bring the food out to us!!
Sizes are not worth the price it’s so expensive for bite size food!
A bit rushed with the seating….felt like we couldn’t finish our final courses.
All excellent. Generous servings of creative food at reasonable prices. It's amazing that so few cafes and restaurants do this. You'll need to book in.
Delicious - every plate was wow & we all were very impressed
The service was exceptional and the food was amazing! The only downside was the seat (stool style) which was a little uncomfortable. Will definitely return 😁
Very attentive staff, always with a smile.
Nice to have food that is a little out of the ordinary and full of flavor.
Very nice food. However, we asked for no coriander and two dishes came with coriander garnish. Luckily we could just pick it off. Why don’t restaurants recognise that some people cannot eat coriander and ensure that they can produce coriander-free food?
We felt rushed. The restaurant was not full but our booking was for only 90 minutes. Why are restaurants persisting with short sitting periods now that COVID restrictions are not really limiting numbers? It spoils the ambiance.
Food was not good. Ordered 2 “feed me menus” for 4 people as we were not very hungry, and the waiter said he recommended that we should order 3 or 4. We ordered 4 menus and it was way too much food. There were huge pieces of bitter over-fried garlic, way too much mayonnaise, too much salt and sugar on the eggplant, drinks were on the light side and in general everything we had was of a very low standard.
Amazing food, funky decor, upbeat atmosphere, attentive staff … what’s not to like. Highly recommended.
Always a great place to be. Consistently great food, vibe and service.
8 dish banquet was well put together by the chef with all the dishes working well together.
Service was outstanding and our waiter was very friendly.
Definitely my favourite restaurant. The only down side it how quickly you are kicked out. We had just received our mains when the waiter came over and said we had 30 minutes left which automatically put a downer on the meals as we felt like we had to quickly eat and leave. I have been a couple of times and this happens every single time. Just a shame we can’t enjoy the food with out being pushed on for the next people
We ordered 4 share plates (prawn fried rice, Japanese chicken, braised beef and salt and pepper squid) and two bottles of white wine. It was the worst salt and pepper squid I’ve ever had, dry, tiny flakes and no taste. The Japanese chicken was dry and boring, only thing that improved it was the Mayo and hot sauce that came with it. Beef was a plate of mush. The rice was the only enjoyable dish. We had a table at the bar and had to scream at each other just to have a conversation due to the competing noise of the staff behind the bar and kitchen. Everytime the staff made drinks we got splashed with stuff when they split the cocktail shakers. We then got told we had to leave cause they had booked our seats and it took me pulling out the email to prove we still had 30 minutes of our booking to go for them to get off our backs. Service terrible, except for Lara who did her best. $180 for 90mins of bad food, rude service and awful table. Plenty of better places to go and we will not be back. Definitely over rated.
For a lunch time I found it too noisy, hard to have a conversation where we were sitting. I should have asked to low down the volume... would it receive a positive reaction? :-)
Fun night out. Food and service was fantastic. We sat outside and despite the heaters we had cold legs and backs. Rug up.
Great food and great service. Our waiter Lucy was terrific
Everything was splendid. Akiba had been recommended to us by a local chef and did not disappoint. My father in law and wife are two pretty hard foodies from the cut throat take no prisoners Sydney scene and they were thoroughly delighted.
Fabulous food. Every dish was terrific. Service very pleasant and very prompt. Very noisy. I prefer sitting on chairs rather than benches.
The feed me menu was not as good as last time we went. Probably won't do it again.
the food, service and drinks where great, really enjoyed the night
Good service. Great friendly staff Excellent food..... Quick service due to time restraints and booking.
Friendly. Would book again
We had the feed me Lux menu. It came out fast, was delicious and nice to wash down with a couple of beers. The beef was the favourite for us.
Always a treat to dine here.
Loved it! Perfect for a place to start before a night out
