Alden and Harlow
While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!
Parties of more than 8, please call to make a reservation.
Typically the food and service here is amazing but unfortunately both fell short this time. Our server seemed to forget us at time, and the food didn’t seem to be as great as it typically is. 😕
We were there for a birthday dinner, very festive and delicious. The gave us a comp dessert with a candle. Very nice servers. Cocktail was different and delish
Food was great! Love the sharing experience. The pasta Malfine with pesto was delightful as were the smoked duck, kale salad, strip steak. We were too full for dessert. Next time!
great service - friendly, quick, and accommodating. Everything was fresh and we thought flavor combinations were interesting (in a good way!). Great dates and family brunch spot
Really great service and friendly staff. We came in earlier than our scheduled reservation and the host was happy to accommodate us immediately.
The pork belly is amazing and the bartender is open to making drinks of your choice. Will definitely keep coming back.
Great experience and a beautiful restaurant. Staff is professional and friendly. Food is just outstanding. Its a tapas type menu except for the hamburger. The burger is really really good-highly recommend! Had the lamb belly, corn fritters, and the spring onions, as well as complimentary pickled green beans. They're really into pickling, I might add. Dessert was a hazelnut pie. Vodka w rhubarb was great and refreshing. Dinner was under $100 for 2, which is quite a bargain in Cambridge. I would go every week if I lived here.
Wonderful experience! We came here before a show at the Loeb Drama Center. The ambiance is delightful with several different seating options. The staff was incredible. My mom has some trouble hearing with a lot of background noise and the host took great care to find us the quietest possible table available. My brother is also vegan with a dairy allergy and the waiter took great care helping us pick out dishes and offering substitutions for non-vegan dishes to make them vegan. Even the woman who came over to wipe our table down was so sweet and friendly. And the food was sooo delicious! The smoked wheat garganelli was a family fave and should not be missed. Overall wonderful experience here and we would definitely come back again. Thank you to all of the amazing staff here for a wonderful experience!
Food was delicious and service was excellent. We stumbled across Alden and Harlow the last time we were in town and made a point to return this time because both the food and service were excellent!
Food not worth the price. The drinks were amazing. Staffed did not seem happy to serve or be of help.
I have been to Alden and Harlow many times, bringing out of town visitors, on date nights, drinks with friends... and USUALLY its exceptional. However this particular visit left me a little confused. The dishes were extremely overpowering in all its flavors, no nuance or light handedness at all. And while I like bold flavors, I had some of the dishes before and this iteration was far different. They all tasted like someone with a muted palette made them. For example, the roasted Brussels sprouts had the strongest fish sauce and lime juice mixture overpowering any flavor left. And while we were warned about a pasta dish with strong pesto/ garlic flavors it was leagues more intense than I would have imagined for a dish. The chicken thigh was the most salty dish, leaving me gulping down water to wash the saltiness from my mouth.
I'll pretend this visit was a fluke as I've had more than a dozen great memories here but this particular visit was disappointing. I'm also disappointed because I brought a friend of mine here from Singapore hoping to show her my favorite restaurant in Cambridge but we both left dissatisfied.
Loved the brunch. Innovative and delicious. Try the Lamb Hash!
The food was great, the drink I had was amazing, and the ambiance was great. It was a tad but pricey so it’s a 4 star but I loved the food! Great for a place to go for a special occasion or get together.
Nice Sunday brunch menu, excellent quality, and terrific service! A very comfortable and friendly atmosphere for family or dates, and University and Charles Hotel parking are validated!
Kale salad was divine and so was the brussel sprouts! The steak and yams were very good. The cocktails were excellent. The staff was great thank so much!
Melt in your mouth food and the wait staff is very knowledgeable of the menu.
Birthday it was perfect we had a table under the skylight. The food was fantastic and service was good , attentive but not overly so.
Excellent brunch. The grits and pork were sublime. Service was perfection, too. Can't wait to return.
Delicious and experimental food and cocktails (loved the "Aloe Up!") and a great team working. 10/10 would recommend!
Incredible service and awesome food
Alden and Harlow always hits the spot. This is a great place for a nice experience -- since it's a little bit on the pricier side, it's perfect for a special occasion, etc. Service is fantastic and food is always delicious! Highly recommend.
It was sooooo good and fresh. It was amazing quality and great taste.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambiance. Will return. Thank you.
I would recommend it but not rave about it. It was fine!
Absolutely everything was amazing! We all ordered specialty cocktails- Aloe way Up and Drink Pink- both were great.
Every plate was cleaned. The Kale Salad is a must, the torches avocado toast was to die for and the Pigtails were decadent. The Torched fruit was a perfect sweet ending! Will definitely go back if I'm ever in Boston again!
We have been before and had a wonderful experience. Not so much anymore. Staff was distracted and chatting with each other. The food options were fine but nothing worth returning for... overall we were disappointed. Maybe their time has past.
Great food and service. I highly recommend!
Loved a return visit to Alden and Harlow. Was happy to be seated outside as the interior can get a bit loud for conversation. For the first time I tried their sweet potato plate. It was delicious and the portion was huge. My husband had their mystery burger, which he loved. We didn't sample many dishes but those we had were excellent. Service was very good, and, we will definitely return.
Everything on the menu was superb. One of the dining treasures of the Boston area.
A number of unique drinks, dishes and desserts, each with a complex blend of flavors that complement each other and tell a story.
It's not just a meal - it's an adventure!
The atmosphere was great for the get together. The food was delicious with perfect portion sizes.
The place was empty, yet we were not asked where we would like to sit. We were rushed to order. The poached egg was rushed out of the kitchen before the white was white; we were rushed to pay (not quite finished eating), even though the server said "don't rush". We couldn't wait to rush out of there.
We always love going to Alden and Harlow. It’s consistently excellent, and they change up the menu seasonally so there is always something new to discover. The drinks are amazing, servers are fantastic, and the food can’t be beat!
Excellent food beautifully presented. Try the buratta over chickpea waffles
I learned about Alden and Harlow from Bon Appetit and decided to give it a try on our trip to Boston. Overall, this was a remarkable dining experience. Our server guided me through the vegetarian options and discussed which items could be made vegetarian. The food, the portions, the pacing, the service - everything was incredible. My fussy husband actually said that this was one of the top 10 meals he ever had in his life. Just a suggestion for the restaurant, could you please leave the anchovy out of the chips and dip? Bon Appetit actually said that the chips and dip were reason alone to go to Alden and Harlow and I had been dreaming of that dish for days ahead of our reservation, only to be told that the dip has anchovy. I still loved the meal.
An early dinner after Harvard graduation. Possibly the best choice in Cambridge. This place never disappoints!
Service was attentive. A bit noisy and too few choices of non-fried food for my taste.
Some dishes were delicious like the Brussel sprouts but most were good or just ok.
Very enjoyable birthday dinner. They accommodated a late addition to the group, gave us good advice on the options and brought the dishes promptly.
First time I've eaten there. Small plates beautifully presented and cooked.
Really enjoyed the food, and service was superb.
1) A bit noisy
2) No expresso -- I think fairly fancy places should offer that
excellent overall, however, procuring the burger seems a near impossible task. would recommend that there be a more reasonable method to try it.
