What Insiders Are Saying
Alimento was one of Silver Lake’s first destination restaurants, and now it’s one of the best restaurants in the city.
Great food and service. Ambiance is noisy and there are so many rules at this place. When we sat down they said they needed the table back in two hours. Two hours later they never said anything since they took so long to finish service. Water is $1.50 for unlimited sparkling or still water. If you don't drink water they don't charge you.
Place is very noisy and we sat on the benches along the wall which are very uncomfortable.
When the check came there is a line for gratuity for the server as well as the kitchen staff. I just split the tip 50/50.
Food was excellent, as always. Service always attentive and pleasant - great suggestions.
It is very ridiculous to have a policy where you charge 25 dollars a person for changing a reservation. It is something unheard of for any restaurant experience.
Valentine’s Day dinner
The food was very salty. I was thirsty all the time for the rest of the evening.
delicious food and great service! crowded due to the holiday, but we were well accommodated.
The greeter at the door was approachable, nice, respectful and attentive which started the experience GREAT. The server was helpful, extremely nice and knew the menu, that was about all that I would say good about the place. The food was alright, decinitely not worth the price and quantity was not good.
The food was amazing. And our waitress was lovely.
The hostess was a bit rude. Even though we made a reservation for 8pm, the table wasn't ready and we had to wait outside in the cold for 25 minutes. A table became available at 8.05 but was given to a couple who hadn't even booked, we think that they must have been famous or something
Exceeded our expectations. Food, ambiance, service, etc. was perfect!
Cute neighborhood restaurant. Small menu and they were out of a few items on the menu when we dined there.
Visiting family in the area from Toronto. Whole experience was great from start to finish. $5 Valet was a nice surprise to start. The wine list was varied but not ostentatious.
The food was the real star of the show. Get the scallop crudo if it’s on the menu- it was absolutely unreal. I enjoyed seeing the open kitchen while dining as well.
Great place for groups to order a bunch of items and share. Will be going back when we return to the area.
Delicious food and attentive staff.
Each item on the menu needed an explanation. It seemed designed to be confusing or at least contrived. Many dishes were delicious and some were just ok. We left feeling overwhelmed by salt and parched for a day and that soured the whole experience.
Apparently opentable overbooked so 3 of us had to awkwardly sit at the bar
We had some very good dishes and some that were just okay. The pasta with clams dish was extremely salty. The Radicchio Caesar was very good as was the Orata fish dish. The pasta with tomato sauce was very cheesy and not enough al dente. We did enjoy all of the desserts.
Fantastic food ... but LOUSY wine. Specifically, the WHITE WINES BY THE GLASS fail, with oddities like a bubbly (!) draft Gruner, an almost bubbly Arneis, an orange-y Malvais and lightweights like pinot blanc. I feel like they were picked by a beer drinker who doesn't love wine. Not looking for a pinot grigio, but something like a kerner, vermentino and many others would have been better than the above.
I will go back for the food, but will look at the bottles or more likely bring our own wine.
It was great, as always. Our waitress was outstanding.
Great small plates. Delicious food. Friendly excellent service. Reasonable.
The fusilli was amazing, and the bread was a nice addition to the meal.
We had 2 pasta dishes that were phenomenal. We also ordered some appetizers that were great as well (Chicken Liver Chicken Liver Chicken Liver).
My girlfriend did find a piece of string/wine in our ricotta dumpling that we had them take back. We were loving the meal til then but I do have to knock them on that.
Other than that it’s a great little spot with excellent staff and a great wine selection. I would come back here again.
We had quite an amazing meal. The pasta was one-of-a-kind, and of course house made, and the duck dish, served in a gorgeous metal pot, was wonderful.
Excellent meal, pricing and vibe
Still one of the best restaurants in the city. Keeps getting better and better!!
The cooking here is exceptional with bold flavors across the board. Unfortunately - I really can't stand all natural wine lists. Personally I do not like the wines as is the case here where we tried 6 different ones by the glass / bottle. I also do not appreciate someone forcing their philosophy on me. Please offer some choice...
Inventive cuisine! Loved it!
We go to Alimento any time we are in Los Angeles and it never disappoints. The wilted lettuce crostini is one of my favorite dishes in the world and the pasta are always perfect. The server recognized us after about 8 months! I can’t say enough positive things about this place.
Every time I go back it impresses. Great pastas and everything else.
Wonderful gastronomic experience!
Amazing food! Everything was delicious. Service was great.
It was hard to carry on a conversation though, as it can get very loud.
Excellent food and manager handled a situation very well!
I emailed them on Jan 1 after a less than great New Years dinner and am yet to hear back. The food was hit and miss. It was a four course meal and one of my entrees was so bizarre, they just dropped it off without an instruction with how to eat it. I barely touched it and a server removed it without asking if it was okay or I’d like anything else. Very quickly the auto grat’ed (20%) bill was dropped, presumably because there was a giant clump of people at the bar for the next seating. I understand NYE is stressful but to not care about the food or service, put an auto grat and then not reply to a polite email is not ok, especially for the price.
Took my best friend here for her birthday. She loves Italian food and this place had good reviews...I see why! It was absolutely delicious! We shared everything so we could taste more and the plates were moderately sized so you could. If you don't like salty or flavorful food then you won't like it because some dishes are a bit heavy on sodium and acidity...but the flavors are so rich and yummy. My FAV was a fusilli pasta with jalapeno, I had never tasted anything like it. Worth the drive to Silver Lake. Place is small and intimate so wouldn't recommend for large groups.
The food is beyond belief, it leaves my mouth singing each time I eat there. Dishes are so flavorful and inventive. The services are spot on - servers are knowledgeable and attentive and everyone is very warm and friendly, I feel so welcome there. The ambiance is casual with a lovely vibe. It can sometimes get noisy during peak dining hours and the experience is worthwhile regardless. This is easily one of the best restaurants in LA.
A go to favorite and always delicious and friendly.
This is one of the best restaurants in the city.
Alimento never disappoints. The food is always delicious. Our favorite is the tortellini and the chopped salad. The wine flights (when offered) are thoughtful and complementary of the meal. One request--I wish they would wrap the service charges into the bill vs. charging separately for filtered water, server tip, kitchen staff tip. It's a lot to figure out especially when you're out to dinner with friends.
the tortellini in brodo is the best thing I've ever put in my mouth.
Love the creative dishes. have been here at least 5 times and have always introduced it to new friends.
Great in every way as usual. Thank you alimento for being my favorite!
