Expected much more from this well known establishment. Booking Aria for a special event I expected something memorable, especially for the price tag! How this restaurant is considered a top Sydney establishment is beyond me.
The only two positives about the Aria is the location and the service. The food was just appalling, tasteless and lazy. Portion size is not an issue if the quality is there - it was not. After spending hundreds of dollars we left hungry. I have had better meals at suburban establishments. The only explanation I can fathom is management must purely rely on the location for business.
The staff were exceptional and did their best to make it a night worth remembering. Unfortunately, the food was so disappointing I could never recommend Aria to anyone.
We enjoyed the Premium Wine Paired Tasting Menu at Aria. Every course was fantastic, and the wine pairings were all spot on. The service was amazing and we truly enjoyed the entire dining experience at Aria. You'll need to save your pennies for this one, but it's well worth it for foodies and wine lovers!
Lovely dinner with great service and a view of the harbour. We had the pre-theatre menu and it was quick service and the food arrived promptly and was delicious.
Beautiful setting, outstanding food, excellent service and exceptional view.
You get what you pay for! Expensive but excellent! Great food and wine and excellent service! What a way to put Judith Lucy to bed!
Warm welcome with excellent service and food. The wine program by the glass is outstanding and not to be missed if you like pairing different wines with each course. Chinese New Year celebrations led to a loud drum cadence outside just as we were seated and lasted about 20 minutes. Other than this annoyance, the evening was delicious and flawless. Worth the splurge!
Wonderful date experience
Classy, wonderful food and view
Excellent food and service with a lot very view of the harbor. The menu was attractive but confusing.
The location, view and food are exceptional and perfect for a special occasion. It got off to a bad start with bad seating after a request for a window weeks earlier because of a special birthday. We were moved but it took 30 min and it delayed our order and service so we were rushed at the end. Gratus wine helped but it was a mistake that shouldn’t have happened.
Easily one of the best meals of my life. Filling and delicious. Amazing service.
A very nice meal. The service was excellent and thoughtful
Food-fantastic. Service- excellent, Norbert was great. All around an excellent meal excellently executed and masterfully presented.
I had a board member in town for one evening from Vancouver. The food was fantastic, our white wine was not served with our entree - I can live with that as we had not finished our initial drinks. What disappointed me the most was when we left, we passed 3 barmen and 3 staff at the reception desk and not a soul said goodbye or opened the door for us. It was something so small to you but meant so much to us. Shame on you for being so arrogant. I’m a no body to you who has probably only spent around $20,000 in your restaurant over the past 8 years so I don’t expect much.
Very average food. Mostly disappointing dishes. Seem to be trying too hard for the price point. Charge more but offer much better quality. Ingredients weren’t the issue, it’s the flavour combinations and execution that lets it down. Dining room is very dated and unless you are in the main room on a front table there is basically no view.
Don’t know how to cook...
Great food. Great service.
Highly recommend to anyone wishing to take their loved ones for a special occasion.
Good food, nice timing served, terrific service, excellent vibes. Good to go for a walk around Opera House or Royal Botanic Garden before or after eating.
It was the best restaurant in Sydney. All the food and service were perfect. There was a lot of food and we had a very full and satisfying time! Thank you :)
A menu that pushes boundaries and builds an amazing experience, a wine list and Sommelier knowledge that cultivates and compliments the food, and an outlook which makes you want to linger long after the meal is done. Congrats Chef Joel and the amazing team.
Aria is the most outstanding restaurant in Sydney and one of the finest in the world! From the time we were greeted at the door till we left, the evening was perfection! The food was delectable, and the service was beyond wonderful! Aria is an absolutely beautiful restaurant, and our dinner was one that we will always cherish! Treat yourselves and enjoy it!
Fab food, great service, great location. Who could ask for more?
We had a good meal at Aria on our last night in Sydney. Service was impeccable and views breathtaking. The only dish that tasted underwhelming to me was the yellowtail tuna appetizer, but the prawns and short rib appetizers were excellent. My duck main course was cooked to perfection and a side dish of broccolini was the best broccolini I have ever had. The desserts however were overly sweet.
The only true disappointment was that the restaurant knew it was my birthday and they did not even put a candle on my dessert plate. Everyone else around us got a candle, so they certainly had them in stock.
Wine pairing was amazing! Food was phenomenal! Could not have asked for a better experience!
I had a wonderful experience here; the staff were generous and thoughtful and the food was truly wonderful.
Great need to Experience it to understand
The entire experience at Aria is lovely. The staff is well informed and pleasant. The food is wonderful and the ambiance was beautiful. We had a fabulous lunch on our first day in Australia.
Aria is in a fantastic location at Sydney Circular Quay near the Opera House. Food is good quality, with excellent personal service. The steak and duck are must try.
My happy place on earth hence why I’m a regular. Matt Moran and his whole team never ever disappoints. Top class.
We had a wonderful lunch at Aria. We had a window seat looking towards the Opera House. We had exceptional tasty food. The service was excellent.
Reserved months in advance, seated with spectacular view, food and service were first class, an expensive experience but worth every dollar. A truly memorable experience.
It’s been a long time since I last went, lots of new choices in Sydney to try, this place delivered everything you are looking for, it’s back on mye agenda and it’s should be for every sydnersider.
Had pre-theater dinner at this restaurant and I was sit by window with a spectacular view of Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The foods are fresh and delicious with their new Spring menu.
This restaurant is worth a trip to Australia. The ambience and decor are sophisticated and low key and the service is impeccable. Our server helped us through the rather difficult menu presentation without a hint of condescension. But the food is the star of the show. Every dish was artfully plated and perfectly prepared. My wife proclaimed our meal the best she ever had. Be prepared for sticker shock when the bill arrives, but there is no question that you get what you pay for. Enthusiastically recommended.
Lage und Service sehr gut, Essen sehr international und daher charakterlos und beliebig; könnte irgendwo auf der Welt sein.
Excellent evening - food was amazing and the service impeccable! Bryce is an excellent sommelier and helped us choose some terrific wine. We will be back again!
Excellent service on what was a special occasion. Little extras such as a box of truffles to take away were appreciated. Great table with a terrific view of the harbor and Opera House.
Wonderful food and view. Menu a little smaller before 7:00pm, however, all of their specialty items were available.
We were celebrating my Mom's 65th birthday while she was on her first visit to Sydney and Australia.
The positives: The view is lovely. Ambience nice. The mains dishes were very good in portion and taste. The birthday cake we ordered was absolutely delicious. Our waiter that served us in the latter half of our meal was very attentive and proactive.
The cons: The professionalism was actually a bit shocking - we were seated and then given lunch menus rather than supper menus, which was later corrected but I don't expect that sort of error from a 2 Hatter restaurant. Regarding the actual dishes - nothing was explained other than to respond to one question I asked. The server was difficult to understand even when he did speak. That said, no picture was 'painted' in terms of the dishes - one was left with more questions or resignation really. Mode at Four Seasons was a delight by comparison, and the server there explained the dishes and created a feeling of personal service 10 times that of the person who dealt with the menu/orders - in addition to which we felt rushed to decide for heaven's sake! Foodwise... my Cod starter just smelt unappetising... terribly fishy and I was close to just leaving it to be honest. My wife had the Yellowtail and was not actually expecting it to be sashimi as it said nothing on the menu and again nothing was explained proactively - she usually does not like sashimi, but just dealt with the dish. This is not my idea of fine dining. Lastly, we were told a sommelier would pop round... that she did, but even after choosing our own wines she offered NO suggestions, and didn't even ask what we were eating so as to determine the best pairing.
On balance... for a celebratory dinner for which I thought Aria would be appropriate... I am extremely disappointed to be honest. I was hoping to be wowed but rather sadly had to search for positives. I just really hope this is taken as a learning and improvements result from my critique.
