Avra Madison Estiatorio on 60th
Amazing food, large portions and fair price!
Wonderful as always!!!
The food was good, ambience great, service ok but overall for the price, you can do better elsewhere. I’ve been to the one on 48th and it was a better experience. However for the $, I likely won’t be returning.
Amazing definitely going back.
The food was the best part of this meal, it was fresh, flavourful & enjoyable.
The service was alarmingly unacceptable. We got to the restaurant 5 mins before our reservation to avoid any issues or inconveniences to the restaurant. Our table was not ready for our 9pm reservation, which can happen of course, we waited uncomfortably in the the very busy and chaotic lobby, where we would have happily ordered a drink in the meantime to make the wait bearable but didn’t see the point since the hostess kept reassuring me “two minutes, two minutes.’ However it wasn’t unfortunately ready for 25 minutes until we were finally seated at 9:25pm with very little apologies on the matter. When our table was finally ready, we were relieved to sit down and hoping for an improvement on our experience, however were left even more dissatisfied. Our server was incredibly unobservant and would often forget when we asked for another cocktail or even water. He even forget the standard pita was was supposed to be served to the table when guests sit down, he finally brought it a the end of our meal. Overall we were incredibly disappointed with the experience at Avra, and despite the food being outstanding the service will absolutely be preventing us from going again.
The food is good but the experience and service makes it really not worth the price.
While the food was excellent along with the service, it is just too expensive.
Food was good. Service spotty. Room looked very pretty but was very noisy and crowded. Table was next to the bar which was packed making the table very noisy and cramped. Visit was for a birthday but the server(s) never acknowledged the special occaision. Wine was tremendously overpriced.
We love this restaurant. It is beautiful, with wonderful food and great service. It is not inexpensive.
I love this restaurant. It’s beautiful, had great food and the service is excellent
AAAA++ great service food 👌👌👌 we love it downstairs balcony view over looking everyone else 👌👌👌 thank you
Wonderful valentines dinner. Great food and ambiance.
We were seated in the bar, which wasn’t great. Appetizers came out, and before we were finished with them, our main course arrived. Food was meh. Over priced by about $50 for dinner for two. Won’t be back.
We did the unthinkable on Valentines Day... We were late for our reservation due to traffic. The result: Gracious unrushed service, fantastic food, and a great evening. We appreciated the full menu availability on a holiday, and the fact that the professional team handled the onslaught of customers like it was another Saturday night. True pros! We have dined here before and will be back again and again. NYCs best grilled octopus and fresh fish. Thank you for a great evening!
Loved the food. A bit pricey and overall ambiance is just ok for me.
The staff was very accommodating. I had to change the reservation and add more people, and it being Valentine’s Day which I know is very busy , the reservationists was great. . The other couple had a delay and the waiter was very understanding. It was the first time there for two of the four and everyone enjoyed themselves v
It was a birthday and I wrote it on the notes previously so the restaurant would be informed. The staff was aware and they did nothing about it. A birthday dinner is more than food and when a restaurant that charges you what Avra charges and cares 0 about the guest I see no future of the place.
Hard to cope with the prices which they over charged. Very decent food but not that complex and with hefty price tag.
Was 2 of the best desserts we have had in a long time
Great cocktail menu
We were seated at a two-person table adjacent to the bar, therefore we had very little space and it was quite loud. The food was good- we have the lobster cocktail, an arugula salad, the swordfish with oregano fries and a side of broccoli rabe- but unless I really need to stay in the area again, I am not sure I would go back, as it was pricier than it needed to be and the ambiance was not particularly pleasant.
As ever, Avra delivers in every way. Can think of no better lunch experience in the city. Only knock is that this is well known and reservations are not easy to come by.
Great as usual! Outstanding Greek food and fab ambience!!
Superb as always. Avra has been one of my favorite restaurants for Sunday brunch, lunch, dinner or just drinks. Beautiful and vibrant restaurant. Food is excellent and different. Highly recommend to anyone and throroughly enjoyed my birthday there.
Very good outstanding food and service nice atmosphere we was really happy
A perfect spot for a family birthday gathering. We had a new baby with us with a stroller and was easy to place her next to our table as the restaurant is beautifully spacious. The food was divine. The decor is stunning. The lighting and ambiance and acoustics are perfect. And our waitress was incredible - Attentive and knowledgeable and used a Greek accent with the Greek dishes which we loved! We had the whole fish to share between 7 of us and it was a memorable dish. Could not have chosen a better place to celebrate a family birthday. Oh and the delicious dessert platter was complimentary ! Always a nice touch:)
Can’t wait to go back.
When I made the reservation I specifically asked to be seated upstairs. When they called to confirm the reservation, I again said I requested upstairs seating and was told sure no problem. When we got there, they took us downstairs and I said I requested upstairs they said we can’t do anything. That’s disappointing because I don’t like sitting downstairs and I would choose a different restaurant if they told me at time of reservation that they couldn’t accommodate.
We have eaten at Avra/Madison several times and have enjoyed each evening we were there.
The service is exceptional and the food "DELICIOUS"
Nice food. Nice location. Food was nice but nothing really popped out. We had 3 appetizers- crab cake, grilled octopus and grilled shrimp. For entree, we had the lamb and Halibut. By far the best thing we ate that night was the crab cake and grilled octopus, which we would definitely recommend. For entrees, I would recommend the Lamb over the Halibut. I wish the restaurant had more Greek alcohol selection. Ethnic restaurants usually import some alcohol from the country. Avra only had 1 type of drink beer. Definitely wished they had more than 1 type of Greek beer. Also, I wished they had Ouzo. Most casual greek places serve it and even make Ouzo cocktails. Price wise- the food is a tad overpriced.
Great Greek food and hot spot!
Excellent! Great fun ambiance and lively bar. Beautiful people beautifully dressed! Excellent food, super fresh seafood, great wine list and great service.
Perfect place for a girlfriend’s 50th birthday lunch. Delicious, healthy and pretty — and easy for us to talk. I love it.
Avra never disappoints. Classy, elegant and friendly service. Food always amazing.
I ordered lamb and it was all fat !
Excellent service , friendly atmosphere and wonderful food. The prix fixe lunch is so reasonable for an upscale restaurant in midtown. I highly recommend Avra for a delightful lunch, for any (or even just for a treat) occasion.
The worse waiter I have ever experienced in any restaurant !! She should not be working with the public. Arrogant rude condescending . I will not return and will let the owner Mark Packer know.
Birthday celebration !
A corporate expense account restaurant. Flawlessly done, with excellent ambiance and lovely staff. But at heart, a restaurant seemingly focused on corporate diners (with less care and focus on the food).
Fabulous food. Amazing 3 course lunch for $29.50. Such value and very large portions. Excellent service
Great service and selection of fresh seafood. Chocolate cheesecake desert was off the chart!
The food was about what you would expect in a diner- seafood hash overwhelmed with mushy potatoes(only ketchup rescued it, pita dried out and crumbled when dipped in humus, but over priced .
