   This place is amazing. We went for breakfast and had the best time. The charcoal pancakes are great, but the real star is the guava syrup. The avocado toast was also amazing. It was almost too gorgeous to eat…almost. Angie, our server, was top notch. If you’re thinking about going, do it!

   The food at Basalt was incredible and the service was amazing. Our server Matt was so kind, informative and easy to chat with. There is a big bar center of the space, tons of dining space inside and a beautiful side patio with the perfect evening breezes for a relaxing dinner. Matt told us about the brunch which also sounds amazing and we want to try that before we go home. Overall this place is an absolute must while on Oahu, you won’t be disappointed!

    Lobster bisque was enticing and we really appreciate the charcoal bread and butter. The tako (octopus) was chargrilled to perfection without the after bite, very well complemented by the salsa on the side. Black cod miso was divine, cooked to the T, the fish was buttery soft to the tongue, flavor was awesome and the chef was able to accentuate the side of mushrooms as its own. Thank you for the anniversary dessert and dont forget the lilikoi (passion fruit) bruleé and punch. Just a side note to the patisserie, double check the fruits next time. A big Mahalo to everyone especially to Russ for the excellent service!

    Everything we had at Basalt was amazing! Drinks, salad, lobster bisque, paella, ribeye, chocolate mousse, & cheesecake were all exceptional! The paella was some of the best we've ever had! The price was so reasonable as well! Don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant in Waikiki!

    Came here for mother's day dinner as my wife really wanted to dine here. I was giving Basalt a 2nd chance just in case it was an off day last time. Service was excellent, food was spot on this time. Dinner started out with a bang with crab stuff pawns and charred octopus appetizers. My Miso codfish was great and although my wife's prime rib was perfectly prepared, the cut wasn't as good as she's use to... it was a little tough and chewy. The fail on dinner was no inside table seating except at the bar. This was a special occasion mother's day celebration reservation and only bar seating inside... I could have walked in for bar seating. We ended up in cold windy outdoors and had to eat fast as our food was getting cold very quickly.

    Food here was really good. The ambiance was not what I was expecting as it’s basically located at a grocery store and an alley way. The food was great and was the redeeming factor. Remember to bring your ID if you want a drink though! Basically 30 but still getting ID’ed I guess…

    Food was delicious (get the lobster bisque!) and service was excellent. Outdoor seating is next to an alley, even though their are bushes separating the eating area from the alley, there's not much in the way of ambience.

    Ordered the prime rib and the macadamia crusted fish for dinner. The plate was cool to the touch and the steak was luke warm and salty. The fish came out warmer than the steak, but was pretty greasy for a fish dish. Was going to order dessert to finish the meal, but after such disappointing entrees, decided to skip dessert here and get it elsewhere. The price does not match the quality of the food or the service. Our bread came out with our entrees rather than immediately after ordering.

    True breakfast places are not that easy to find in Waikiki, so I was happy to find this place. Went here twice for breakfast. Not a huge menu, but most should be able to find something to eat. The food was good - especially the charcoal pancakes. Outdoor seating is nice, but sometimes loud. I would recommend.

    The food and service were outstanding. I ate outside. Which is really an alley that backs up to the parking garage. Noise cannot be helped, but the delivery truck idling really took away from the experience. The very plain almost dirty looking (NOT actually dirty) wall could be made so much more attractive with some artwork. Still was wonderful!

    Our server, Max, couldn’t have been warmer, more efficient, or more spit-on with his recommendations. He really knew the menu well and seemed excited to share that knowledge with us. The food—quinoa-crusted shrimp, duck empanadas, black cod, and the steak frites were done to perfection. Shout out also to top-tier assistant servers, Kelvin and Ethan.
