Wow. Amazing experience. Highlights were baba ghanoush, scallop crudo, prawns and mushrooms!! I will say I wish we had ordered the simple hummus instead of the duck nduja hummus - but still tasty. Will definitely be back.
The bar service was exemplary with multiple servers asking if we needed to place an order and bringing us tastings of the wines. This made us feel taken care of and welcome. The table service on the other hand was not on the same level. The server took drink orders but then left us for too long. We finally had the server return to place the order and he missed one the entrees as well as a glass of wine. He was apologetic when things didn't come. He seemed generally overwhelmed and scattered. The back waiters were very good. And the food was delicious! The only thing a miss was the waiter told us the lamb was a 24 ounce portion and when it arrived it looked closer to 6 ounces. We loved the atmosphere although a bit loud. We will return.

Great menu and selection of food choices, lot's of opportunities to share and how cool to enjoy the actual Food Prep, as it's all open kitchen style, which you can see, hear, talk to and enjoy- It's a mixed crowd, of young and old, familys and some singles at the small counter, in front of the two Creative people making the Best Salads- I've heard they're always full, as getting reserv. after 7, could take weeks- we were pleasantly surprised, definately going back and back and back, even though a bit expensive- - this one is worth saving for-

Even with a reservation made we had to wait a while for our table. Otherwise things were great. Food was delicious. It’s a tad loud but that’s to be expected.
We loved our experience! We sat at the counter but loved having a view of the kitchen, and being able to chat and interact with the incredibly hardworking staff! The young man assembling the different dips was especially kind and fun to talk to. Such a fun place and the food was so incredible.

Jumping. Great place to go for after theatre supper. Lots of vegetarian choices as well as fish and meat plates to share.

Bavel does not disappoint. Restaurants often get so much hype only to fall flat once you dine there. This did not happen at Bavel. Every item we ordered was delicious and en point with our expectations. I’m not usually excited about duck, but we got the “last one” and it was one of my favorite dishes. The lamb shawarma was so tender and flavorful as was the fish. Cauliflower has become the new Brussels sprouts and can be bland. However I woke up craving the cauliflower at Bavel. And don’t even get me started on dessert! We had the donuts, then.. had a second order!
Yes, it’s quite pricey so I won’t be eating here nightly, but plan ahead, save your money and enjoy the experience at least once!
I could get real wordy and describe everything in detail but that would just slow you down putting you at risk of not getting the reservation you need. The food, service and ambiance (with the exception that it was a little chilly) are all amazing. My table had the Duck Hummus, Babaganoush, Lamb Flatbread, Middle Eastern Cured Meats, Oyster Mushroom Kebob, Heirloom Lettuce Salad and the Lamb Neck Shawarma. The one thing we could have done without was the flatbread. It was good but not amazing like all the rest. The pitas and fried pita were awesome and the perfect compliment to everything. Service was some of the best I've experienced in LA with a handful of servers helping us throughout the night. That is all, now make your reservations.
Walking in, we were greeted to the team-building grunting fo the kitchen and waitstaff. That level of camaraderie is commendable, but over the course of the evening, became somewhat of a distraction when similar guttural exclamations were heard from the kitchen staff. Being the very first to be seated, it was lovely to see the space before the hustle grew, but our party was surprised when immediately at 5:01 p.m., the music was cranked up to a level where we could not discern our waiter's name when presented. We did ask to have it turned down which it was for a while, but as the room filled and the volume of those talking increased, so did the music, making a compounding noise that was beyond annoying.
Overall, the food was very, very good, but at a price point to make me question its value. An artichoke salad was mostly celery. A $15 appetizer salad was three tablespoons of chopped celery and cucumber. I could see some slivers of a third ingredient and it was then we realized that the slivers was the artichoke. For the three tablespoons of celery/cucumber, I would hazard to guess that a single artichoke leaf had been thinly sliced as a stir-in to qualify its title. Couldn't TASTE the artichoke but, yes, I guess it was there.
For three of us, we would have ordered a bottle of wine, but not a single bottle on the lest was less than $68. The most admired dish of the evening was the lamb neck shawarma. That was worth the value. However, when we were ordering, the waiter recommended that we order six to seven dishes to be eaten family-style. Not knowing how hungry we would be, we started with five dishes: one starter, one flatbread, two appetizers, and a shared entrée. Even with this amount of food, there were leftovers so six or seven dishes would have been far too much and we felt as though we were being manipulated into an up-sell.
It is trendy, expensive, and a place to be seen, but there are much better restaurants for taste and value.

Terrible service. I could not give enough 0 stars. It doesn’t matter when you made your reservation. You make it 60 days ahead of time and you still get sat at a terrible table. And when you complain, they don’t care at all. The rude hostess tells you to wait 30-40 minutes for a better table, doesn’t notify the manager you’re upset, and doesn’t check up on you later even when they said they would. Plus, you’re sat at such a bad table that you get hit in the back with extra chairs they’re getting for another table without apology. I got injured eating here and the food wasn’t even that good. Absolutely worst experience ever. Can’t believe we spent over $200 for ridiculous service and food.

Went earlier and they were able to accomodate us with seats at the bar. Our server was amazing - had an upbeat personality and checked up on us couple of times. The food and drinks were great too!
Beautiful ambiance! Great service from the bus boys and food runners. The hostess and the waiter had a lot of bad attitude and looked annoyed and not wanting to be working there. Unfortunate. It was so loud with rap music we couldn’t have a conversation. I could barely hear my friend whom was visiting from Europe. So frustrating. I had the Hummus, Prawns and Green leaf Salad. Everything was delicious except the Prawns. They smelled fishy and made my stomach upset. Overall I think this place is overpriced and disappointing. I had such high hopes.
Food is very intentionally and creatively prepared and presented and it allows for each dish to be an experience in and of themselves. So as an entire meal, the story of the meal is rich with detail and lot of delicious meaning! Ambience is great, enough to look for visually especially in what I think is the centerpiece - the long drapes of green, green vine and leaf that seem to fall perpuallt from the cieling yet hang right above the eye liner allowing for a constant feel of freshness while you eat and share the meal.
The open kitchen is exciting to watch and allows for added excitement for each dish as it comes straight from the animated and very professional staff of cooks/chefs.

The lamb neck is a must, so tender so delicious. Scallops also killer, prawns delicious, the farm cheese so good; I really don’t think you could go wrong with anything? But I haven’t tried everything so maybe there’s some misses, but I’ve tried a lot and I’ve liked everything.
I had booked a reservation almost 2 months in advance for my wife’s birthday. We arrived on time and were seated in an overheated patio rather than the beautiful main dining room. The restaurant mentioned my wife’s birthday when they called to confirm the reservation, but never once mentioned her birthday at dinner. Food was good, but only exceptional dish was the scallop crudo. It was a fine meal, but would not recommend.
You have to go to Bavel prepared to spend at least $75 per person, and also have a strong sense of how much food you really want because they will definitely try to up-sell. The food itself is very good, but some things are better than others. The lamb neck was extraordinary and large enough that we split it between three people. The baba ghanoush was great but the star was the pita which is like a hybrid of pita and puri (from India) or Indian fry bread. You only get one pita with an order, but it's worth the extra $4 to get another. The mushroom kebab gets a lot of attention in reviews. It's good, yes, but not $20 good. Likewise the cauliflower.
Everything was amazing. From the minute you walk in the door, the service is impeccable. The ambiance is insanely gorgeous. Not one staff member isn't working the entire time. The whole restaurant just has a seamless flow. and then there was the food... absolutely delicious. Definitely need reservations. I've never been to a restaurant in LA that is so packed on a Sunday night. Well worth every penny and thank you for a lovely evening.
This is my third time at Bavel and I’m not rushing to go back.
I had a 9:15 reservation on a Saturday night for 5 people and still waited over 30 minutes for a table. This seems to be a consistent problem at Bavel. The food is delicious but the bad service overshadows what would otherwise be an amazing experience. The staff apologized but our waiter didn’t do much else to make us feel like the wait was worth it, not just for the food but the overall experience.
It was good but not as good as all the hype seemed to make it. The meet was dry.

Food was amazing. We had the artichoke and cucumber salad. It was a revelation of freshness I’ve never experienced. BBQ shrimps were amazing. A definite favorite. Duck hummus also great especially with such freshly made bread. Main course of the schwarma lamb neck was so tender and full of flavor. All around amazing food and service. Can’t wait to come back

The decor is beautiful and inviting, the service was very attentive and friendly. The food was very good, very innovative, like nothing I have ever had. The prices are steep I would even say to the point of it being dishonest. The one thing that kept it from being a memorable evening was that I stated twice on my reservation that was my wife and I 10th anniversary and they never acknowledged it in any way, and after 180 dollars with no drinks.
The food and service was excellent. The ony downside was that there was a party of obnoxious guests who ruined the ambience.
Interesting take on middle eastern food. Although I think I prefer the simpler (and less expensive) versions.

It as great except is was so loud. We even sat on the patio, which is less loud than inside and it was still crazy loud. If they just turned down the ambient music a little then everyone wouldn't have to fight to be heard over it.
