Very small and charming. Staff was top-notch - attentive, great explanations of the interesting dishes, completely professional without being the least bit snooty. Food was absolutely wonderful, creative, well prepared, and presented.
As always, impeccable! Easily my favorite restaurant’
We’ve been going here for a few years now and just love this place. We usually go for special occasions like Birthday and Anniversary. Love that it is s BYOB. The chef is From France and he comes out and talks to everyone. They make you feel so special
Excellent staff and service!!! Will come back to eat here every chance I get:)
Wonderful venue to celebrate very special occasions. The staff is exceptional. Menu is memorable and changes daily
Simply amazing. Again. Chef Pierre Calmels brings the excellence of his native Lyon to an intimate setting. What a wonderful experience!
Absolutely, positively AMAZING! A must for a special occasion with that someone special.
Outstanding as always!!! Highly recommended for a wonderful experience and excellent food and service.
Superb, imaginative and fun to be there. Michelin inspectors, guess what: it’s worth the detour! Chef Calmels has taken his amazing cuisine to a whole new level.
Bibou is a real gem, hidden in a small space on 8th Street in South Philadelphia. The prix fixe menu was varied and creative. Chef Calmels’ food was delicious and beautifully presented. His sauces were amazing. The service was exceptional, and the ambience was tranquil and inviting. Needless to say we plan to return soon!
We thought the service was great. A restaurant that feels like you're in a personal home, the food was unique and wonderful. My boyfriend and I enjoyed trying new things and the atmosphere.
For food lovers - this is the place to go to. The menu was creative and beautifully executed, the flavour palette was very exciting and we had the most lovely dinner. Best tasting menu I’ve had. And it’s different every week! Bonus points!
Great venture, so commendable, great for people that really get excited about different combinations and flavours.
A gem: small and brilliant. Pleasingly quiet and beautifully orchestrated, unhurried and well-paced. Numerous small plates with a delight of tastes. I found the cheese course (Langres from Champagne-Ardenne with marvelous accompaniments) memorable; also the soufflé. Bring your own wine, usually more than one bottle, maybe even three, in order to complement the food properly; but the clientele are used to that and the servers manage the carry-in wines faultlessly. Chef Pierre comes from Lyon, the home of Paul Bocuse and renowned even before that: he has brought with him a worthy portion of the excellence which made Lyon famous. Their loss is our gain. Definitely worth a journey.
Great food ambience and service. Price was well worth it and I consider it a bargain
We took our son, real foodie - his favorite restaurant in the city of so many wonderful restaurants. We see why- ooo la la - what a meal! Portions, taste sensations, service - French cuisine in lovely setting for reasonable price. Bought along wines recommended to pair and that too was perfect. Highly highly recommend Bibou!
Bibou continues to be the best French food in town. The wey poached halibut was amazing! Everything is outstanding from food, to service to ambiance. Always a hit!
The tasting menu was innovative, varied and delicious. The staff and chef were gracious, flexible and welcoming. I just wish I had another stomach to have room to eat more of the dishes I loved most. Bibou is quite far from where we live so unfortunately we cannot go as often as I would like. Dinner there is a lovely experience in all ways.
Everything was delicious and quite perfect. Service was friendly and professional. Bringing own wine was a plus. Will go back and recommend to friends and family.
Wonderful and special place. Went for our anniversary and was treated like a Queen. Loved the food - chef is an artist. Service was outstanding. Won’t wait until our next anniversary to return!!! Thanks for our culinary experience !!
Thank you for a memorable meal! The food was excellent; we enjoyed the service and anything about the evening.
This restaurant is a little gastronomy jewel in Philadelphia.
Celebrated mine and my twin’s birthday there with our mom. 5 stars all around the only “problem” which you have anytime you go to south philly
Portions were way too tiny for $230/couple!
Great restaurant for a special dining evening. Food (tasting menu) was first class. Service was impeccable. Management came to the table appropriately and warmly. Outside of the location, it was a very impressive and distinctive experience.
The food at Bibou is consistently excellent -- from the canapes to the dessert and everything in between. It is is classic French based on very fresh seasonal ingredients. Our meal started with a tasty, chilled fresh pea soup and finished with a beautiful rhubarb souffle. The service was well-paced, friendly and professional. Chef Pierre Calmels emerged from the kitchen to visit with us at the end of the meal. A visit to Bibou makes any occasion a special occasion.
Just outstanding. Our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia
Always a favorite when we are in the city!!!
Fabulous service and wonderful food. Enjoyed meeting the chef/owner and learning about the dishes. BYOB makes it affordable. We’ll be back!
The tasting menu was creative and well structured. We enjoyed it immensely. I especially loved the fois gras.
The food was fantastic. The service even better! I took my fiance to celebrate his birthday and it was perfect.
Bibou continues to be one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. While some patrons do not like tasting menus we relish them. When a chef like Pierre wants to make a meal for us, we just sit back and enjoy!
This was our 5th trip to Bibou and it did not disappoint! Chef Pierre's culinary skills are reason enough to visit Philadelphia and our last visit was for just that. Between his cooking and my cellar, it's a fantastic evening!
Amazing dinner! One of the best meals that I have ever had. Beautiful presentation, quality ingredients and relaxing ambience. This is definitely a highlight of the Philly food scene.
We went to Bibou to celebrate a special birthday. All four of us are foodies and enjoy this type of dining experience. Although there was no one dish that blew our socks off, we were impressed with the inventiveness, presentation and overall uniqueness. The braised neck of lamb was divine!
Amazing dishes beautifully prepared by chef! It was art and devotion all in one unforgettable experience!
We have been looking forward to “dining” leisurely in a top notch restaurant. Bibou was definitely the place. The ambiance, service and quiet decor were superb. We were served seven excellent courses with something to”amuse” ourselves in the beginning of the meal. The foie gras was marvelous as was the lamb and rabbit. Loved the local cheese and dessert. Bread was continually served throughout the meal and it was delicious. They now take credit cards and are on Open Table but be prepared to pay a lot - $115pp - but it was well worth the experience. Remember to bring wine. This is a BYOB restaurant and we brought two bottles of bordeaux
An outstanding meal by any standard. We have eaten with Pierre since the beginning of the first Bibou. He just gets better and better.
Truly special, amazing food, incredible service, save for a super special occasion and give it three wonderful hours, oh and BYOB.
Outstanding food and service. Menu was amazingly creative and absolutely delicious. The menu here changes every week as the chef continues to innovate and does not repeat old menus. This week was a fantastic menu involving two preparations of Wagyu beef - one in burgundy the other simply seared, a translucent dream of a duck consommé, a playful and rich plate of crayfish, chicken mousse and morel mushrooms, and a roulade of smoked bluefish surrounding a beet and pike purée. Next week’s menu is going to be completely different. Ingredients are seasonal and creative. Service is warm and engaging without being fussy. Completely relaxing and convivial atmosphere with the most amazing food! The chef comes to visit each table after the meal and is a lovely person. Approaching their 10 year anniversary this team is firing on all cylinders. This is likely the best restaurant in Philadelphia.
