   Bluestem changed to a self order/self pay system. We ordered apps plus main. We got 1 out of 2 apps before our meal. The other came with the meal. 2 out of 5 of the meals came extremely late. 1 meal was completely wrong and that person waited even further to get the correct one. 2 people ordered the exact same thing, yet the dishes were different/missing ingredients on one. Service was awful, every time we mentioned something was wrong they huddled in groups of 2-3 people and stared at us (there are mirrors around the restaurant). This was the first time I’ve been here post-pandemic. Service has completely gone downhill and good is incredibly overpriced for what you get.

   Terrible experience for hosting a lunch with clients. First we had to pass one phone around so we could all order off the QR-code based menu. Then (as host) I had to verify everybody's orders and ask them if they wanted drinks. Food arrived quickly for 3 of 4 guests, but one order was from the Cafe next door or something and so it didn't arrive until 3 other diners were done eating. About that time, the kitchen staff starts bringing our table dishes that we didn't order - insisting that we did. Even telling us we were wrong, that we must have. Turns out, a neighboring table used our table tent/QR code to order their own food -but on my still open tab. Probably on accident. Then I had to get up from business meeting to get manager to fix, which he did, but didn't even apologize. Then I closed out my tab so nobody else could order on it, but that made it impossible to order coffee after the meal. I asked waiter to get it for us complementary, for the trouble I had with the open ticket. He said sure. But then, never showed up. Then the manager came to table though, and asked if we wanted coffee, and said I have to open a new ticket. I explained that we didn't want to do that and the waiter said he'd take care of it. Then manager left, but then never came back. And so we just left -- without any coffee and with a very negative view of this restaurant. Overall the restaurant was too loud to hear my guests because and the food was OK, but not worth the trouble.

   Interestingly enough the tip was included in the price of food. Food was all good, but we mostly liked the view from the balcony, that is why we went there. Service was very good.

    Using the phone to order and pay there was very little interaction with the staff unless I posed a specific question. The coating of the kimchi balls seemed overly fried and looked burnt. Many of the specialty cocktails are pre-batched and the caramel dessert cocktail with oat milk was a sweet one-note disappointment. I'm glad that the restaurant was able to pivot and remain in business during the pandemic but the changes seem to have removed all of the charm and special hospitality touches from before 2020.

    Perfect! I cannot say enough about the overall experience. Food and drink were excellent but more importantly so were the staff. We stopped by to take a look in the morning as we had just made our reservation for the evening. We were invited in by the owner to take a look and walk around. Basically he gave us some history and personal attention as to how the restaurant operates. Later while dinning he took time to chat with us again. The staff were friendly and attentive and we never felt rushed as we were taking our time enjoying each other and our meal. KUDOS to all and thank you.

    The food was TREMENDOUS. The service was slow and due to a strange way to order (no menus, one person scans the QR code first and signs up as host then everyone everyone else joins the party) everything was really confusing at first. We had a researching for a party of 6 and had 3 others arrive with us so the restaurant had to shuffle things around. They were able to pull it off which we greatly appreciated. The hostess was quite rude and impatient but the server and his help were very nice. Overall a very nice dinner

    We love Bluestem! Their staff are amazing, caring people who make you feel at home. Their food is inspired, locally sourced, and incredibly tasty. We love sitting on their patio, especially for covid safety, but even inside, the space is open and inviting. Their cocktails are so special. Even if I’m not hungry I will pop in and have a cocktail and people watch from their market area.

    Food was poor. Steak came with a slice of toasted bread, and nothing else. Not even a piece of green to dress it up. Another order did come at all. Sparkling water smelled and tasted like a swimming pool (chlorine). Will never go back and advice others to stay away. Too bad that many of the good restaurants downtown closed their doors, but these stick around, and don't even make an effort. Sad.

    Food is not good. We had broccolini, asparagus, mushroom pasta, and one more dish I can't recall. All left uneaten, and we went to another restaurant. Fries were the only good thing here.

    Excellent service fr the moment you enter to the moment you leave. Food is incredible (what’s in that grilled cheese???) and we all loved how tip was ALREADY included. Such a solid spot for brunch or dinner or even just drinks. Go.

    Glad Blue Stem is still with us, post Pandemic. It is a beautiful space and the food is delicious. The menu is new and requires study, but there appear to be lots of interesting options. The pasta was outstanding! Be aware that tips etc are all reflected in the item price, which explains the individual dish price. No tipping with the bill, all inclusive.

    We needed a big table for eight for my daughter’s birthday. Bluestem had one available at short notice for brunch. They were really nice about the birthday with a small flute of champagne for all and a big slice of their great chocolate cake complimentary for the birthday girl. I did not expect much food wise from a big place on Market street but the food was really outstanding. We loved the lamb meatballs and shukchuka as well as the chicken sandwich, burgers and salads. The place was relatively empty so there was no noise and we could all hear each other well even on a big long table. In total a very nice experience!

    My friend and I had 7 dishes and 3 types of cocktails between us. Every single one was delicious and there wasn't any item that I wouldn't order again. Service (our server was the Alvero) was perfect.

    Blue Stem was a big disappointment. We were a party of 4 and I did not like their ordering system. That system may be appropriate for a café, but I don't think it is so for a sit-down restaurant. We had one in our party who is gluten free and there were very few options on the menu that met those dietary requirements. The food was okay... not great. I felt the menu was somewhat limited. The staff however was quite courteous.

    I enjoyed having a late Saturday breakfast here. Not too busy. Service was very good. Food was delicious. I had the toast with ricotta and blood orange marmalade. Coupled with excellent bacon. Good coffee. Would recommend if you’re in SF.

    The food was mediocre. The service was terrible. We ordered drinks and they came after we were halfway through the salad course. They didn’t have the two gins I asked for (I ordered one which they didn’t have—which I was not told up front). Then the same thing with the second. We told the waiter not to put in the food order right away but that didn’t happen. Then the main course came f Dr urging the salad course. The staff didn’t seem to know what was going on. Very disappointing since we had been there a couple of times before Covid and it was good. I doubt we will come back.

    Only one slight complaint about service, it took almost 3 requests to get a glass of water for me. It took less time to deliver 2 special drinks (ordered separately) than my water. Otherwise service was attentive and prompt. Ryan (?) our server suggested that in view of the fact that we ordered so many dishes (1/2 doz oysters, 2 orders of french fries, a salad w/duck confit, 4 entrees) that we move from a 4-top to a larger table; he took another table and fit it end to end. That was perfect as everything fit much better than if we hadn't moved, especially the food came out when ready, instead of serving everything traditionally as courses. We then we had 4 desserts, coffee and other post-entree beverages. Food quality was excellent in every aspect. I had the best pesto pasta I've had in a very long time. The oysters were fresh (and I go out for oysters at least once a month), and everyone else enjoyed their entree as well. All the desserts were excellent and since I insisted on ordering the toasted babka (memories of my childhood and my beloved late grandmother's favorite-tho not toasted) I was glad that everyone RAVED about it. I'm glad I chose Bluestem for my team meeting but I did miss some of the entrees and appetizers from the "old" menu. I suggest paring back some of the oyster items to give more variety in that category. My palate doesn't appreciate spice (to put it politely) so I wish there were more options that are lower on the spice scale. But bottom line, we all enjoyed our meal and won't hesitate to bring clients here (as in the past) or to come here again for another excellent meal.
