Always impeccable service here. Never a bad experience.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at the restaurant last night. We had an early dinner before going to Kennedy Center. It was quiet at 6 pm, but not empty. The service is impeccable. We loved our food - ahi tuna; a steak that was prepared two ways (a special); brussel sprouts with bacon and walnuts (amazing); martinis. Prices are high, but reasonable and better than a lot of other comparable places. We loved it and will return.
Excellent mid afternoon meal. Unusual time for steak. But Bobby Van's provided excellent food. To start with, as many reviewers have stated - the bread was awesome. Warm pre sliced baguette. Steak was perfect. I own a small beef farm so I've eaten a steak or two :) Brussel Sprouts with bacon and walnuts were a very tasty side and were also done perfectly.
Probably only about 5 tables total when I was there in middle of afternoon, so I'm not really a fair test of "service". But my waiter was attentive without being intrusive and had a pleasant sense of humour.
I was here on a Groupon, and Bobby Van's offered Excellent value!!
I would definitely return.
They had a preset menu for NYE. The food was horrible, the service was perfect however.
New Year’s Eve Dinner
The food was not enjoyable simply because the buffet food was cold. To pay $99 per person and to be served cold mashed potatoes and meats was not pleasurable. We couldn’t eat more than one plate because it was cold. The cookies at the dessert table were HARD.
Not a good experience at all especially for the first time.
Our server was great though. We did tell him about the cold food and he said the warmers were re-prepared. For $300 and to have this experience wasn’t well; no complimentary money taken off our bill or anything. Won’t be going back.
Excellent time for celebration dinner.
A wonderful evening. John (the manager) was outstanding. He makes every guest feel that they matter and that he appreciates a patron dining at BV. Good food, excellent staff!
Our business dinner with a group of 6 was a very pleasant evening. Great service and excellent food, including the filet, seafood, and sides. The noise level did get a little loud due to a large group watching Monday night football in the bar area, but overall a great experience
It was a lovely place for a holiday lunch for our office team and scheduling for a large group through opentable was definitely a plus.
Had an anniversary lunch for 12 people in the private room. Everything was excellent!!
It had been a while, but as great as I remember it! Booked on Open Table minutes before we went, as my daughter and I decided to grab dinner after a DC event. We were greeted promptly, seated by a window, and offered beverage options. We started with salad and French onion soup. It was a little later than normal, so we decided to split the cajun ribeye, which was cooked to perfection, adding creamed spinach and mashed potatoes as sides. The manger stopped by to make sure everything was done right, thank us for dining, and wished us Happy Holidays when we left. Great Daddy Daughter date night and why I've been a Booby Van's fan for years!
Bobby Van's Grill was a good restaurant. The service was very good from the time we walked in until the time we left. I would 100% return because of the service. The food was decent, everything was well made but lacked seasoning and I'm not big on seasoning. The apple pie flavors was good but it needs some work. All in all we had a really good experience. 👍🏽
Nice place overall
Service was great food was Delicious. Only problem no Parking orValets on A Saturday. Will recommend this restaurant to others
Really poor experience, should be named Bobby Van's seafood and buffalo wing emporium.
Friend had the filet which looked terrible and the manager's response was "everyone else is enjoying theirs!" Well obviously the Safeway steak my friend was consuming was not meeting expectations.
Just ok. Not a great value for what you get. Servers tried but clearly short-staffed. Food was forgotten, service was slow. The food itself was not good. Overcooked salmon, potatoes tasted like imitation potatoes or made with water. Seafood tower was the highlight. Would not go back given the price and overall value.
This is always one of my favorite places and will continue to be so. However on this particular visit our service was very slow and poor. On top of that the order came out incorrect despite very clear instructions. This is a great restaurant but with this higher price point service and quality should always be outstanding.
I highly recommend Bobby Van's Grill in Washington, DC Especially their staff at this location! A big thanks to my server Victor who is the best and many thanks to their Manager Mike who is always interacting with every table on the floor to make sure everyone is enjoying their time there. The food is fantastic. Entrees, sides, wine selection always the best. Great place for every occassion and a very nice bar as well.
Four of us for dinner and somehow everyone took food home—gives you an idea of the generous portion sizes—especially the chicken parmigiana.
Everything was excellent. Great service, outstanding chef and food runners. Host is delightful.
Will definitely be back.
Superb, well-,attended, first class.l
The usual top quality at BV's from service to food
This is my favorite restaurant on New York Avenue. The staff, the food, the ambience are always good. I think my husband would want to go there everyday if he could. The Grill is the place for lunch and dinner.
I have always been a huge fan of Bobby Van's. My first outing to have dinner after 18 months at home had to be Bobby Van's. They are abiding by all Covid protocols and I felt very comfortable. The menu is not as expansive as it was before the pandemic and that is understandable. The menu choices are are enough to have a great appetizer, entre and dessert. I will definitely return.
The restaurant looked nothing like the yelp & open table photos, the food was just basic….
The people who work here are real pros. Great service makes this already good restaurant a stand out.
Nice location, great food. The hosts and servers were friendly.
It was my birthday. The greeter (guy at the front that looked like Prince) was hilarious. Really good energy. Everyone else I encountered was pretty bland. Like they were going through the motions. Service should always be served with a smile. They were not rude, they just weren’t memorable.
The Greeter, he was memorable!!! Food was amazing though.
Very tasty filet.
Staff was attentive.
I'll be back.
Food was great, service a little slow, but the restaurant was very busy.
Staff was very accommodating, especially front of the house.
This is my second time dining at this restaurant with a Groupon. My first time was lack luster however my most recent time left me very uncomfortable. As far as the food I ordered the lamb chops, pan seared salmon and the Brussels sprouts. The lamb chops were on the peppery side and a 3/5 that is until I tried it with the accompanying side salad with the delicious balsamic reduction which made it a 5/5. Everything else could’ve been greatly improved. The Brussels sprouts were extremely oily and tasted nothing like the delicious Brussels sprouts that I had on my first visit. The salmon could’ve tasted better as well and the accompanying broccolini had no salt or pepper on it at all.
Now to the service: the hostess could’ve been more friendly. I tried to make conversation with them asking how there day was and got no reply. Fast forward to me sitting down and showing my Groupon to my snotty waiter Freddie, who’s demeanor changed after showing it to him. Then fast forward to me enjoying my lamb chops and then asking my waiter for the rest of my order to go and his attitude became even worse and he seemed to have a big chip on his shoulder and paid me no attention after this incident. Honestly, I’m surprised that he would act that way after all my money is just as good as anyone else’s and no offense but there are better steakhouses in the city which have treated me better. I left extremely uncomfortable and I doubt that I’ll be back.
I’ve eaten here numerous times over the last 10-15 years. Usually for business dinners. Last night their staff was more than just helpful. They were absolutely intent on perfection and graciously made sure my colleagues meal was on point after a slight error. Thank you so much and we will be back!
Amazing. Ask for victor
Great food, great service, great DC atmosphere. We really enjoyed it
I had the Oysters Rockefeller that weren't on the menu. My main was the lamb chops and truffle fries which were very good as well.
Excellent place to eat/celebrate occasions/have dinner parties!!
I went after multiple previous visits. The service was terrible. They denied having my reservation and just seated us randomly. The waiter visited my table three times and the 3rd was to bring me my receipt, without my card! This was a very disappointing visit.
Never disappointed with food and service. One of our favorite places to celebrate special occasions.
Service was extremely slow. We were a party of just two ansld it took over an hour after our reservation to receive our food although we were sat immediately upon arrival. Blamed in on a new system however no concessions whatsoever were made for our inconvenience.
