Given our long association with the Merrill House, having celebrated wedding anniversaries there over the years, we were delighted to join renowned chef Michael Sullivan for his last dinner before becoming Executive Chef. The restaurant is amazing, from the delicious menu, to the wonderful staff, and the Alexandrian ambiance. With the restaurant opening form here on only for special events such as weddings, will have to organized a special event of our own so we can enjoy this restaurant.

The food and service were exemplary, but we were in the “wine cellar”, which was cold and definitely lacking the ambience of the dining room.

Absolutely sublime and flawless classical French meal from stellar chef who is now going into semi-retirement (but will still cook at the Merrill House fo special events!) Service was also excellent. The decor is super tasteful in the Gothic revival Merrill House. Wine list is long and excellent. It is a gem and we thank the chef and his whole team for making this meal for us for the chef for his 21 years of superb cooking.

Server Mel was fabulous, taking great care of us - topping up water and wine and asking our preferences throughout the evening. She made our dinner extra special. The rest of the staff were wonderful as well - pleasant, courteous and attentive. We are always pleased to see Susan who has been on staff almost forever. And of course chef Michael’s meal is always exceptional. We wish him well in retirement. Thank you for the great memories of our kind of real “dining out”.

Sadly, our last visit to Brasserie Alexandria (it's closing). We had six dishes last night and all were tasty, with decent portion sizes and great presentation. If you have a chance to stop by for a meal, take it. You will be happy you did!

Arrived after dark to non existent lighting - only what was coming from windows, where to park, where is the door - and poor signage. Wandered around the building twice before finding an open door only to be scolded by receptionist that the door we had entered was for hotel guests only; very rude for an establishment trying to be first-class. Install some lighting, have clear signs telling guests where to go and don't hide the "proper" door in the shadows up a dark staircase. Once seated, serving staff were competent but indifferent; showed no interest in describing the cuisine or wine which was unusual for an establishment marketing itself as gourmet/Michelin rated. All too quick to bring the bill despite the dining room being at ½ occupancy. Maybe disgruntled staff because chef is retiring and they are about to be unemployed; nevertheless turned anticipation of a "special evening" into a disappointment. Won't be returning when PEC offers many superior options.
