In the past, Brasserie Beck was a must-do dining event when we traveled to DC. Our meal this week was a great disappointment. It started out spectacularly with the foie gras appetizer, but went downhill from there. The moules frites with curry sauce were served in a flat cast iron skillet (WHY?) and quickly got cold. The rice noodles in the sauce didn't make sense with the dish. The sauce was tasty, but the cook on the mussels was inconsistent - some were well-cooked, others overcooked. The duck entree was terrible. One slice of duck breast was cooked well, the other was raw. The skin was flabby and the fat hadn't been rendered from it. It came out cold and the entire dish was uninspiring and dry (no sauce, dry slices of purple sweet potato topped with grilled onion slices). The kale chips were the best part of the dish - although the powdered stuff (?) on them had no taste.
We will not visit Brasserie Beck again!

Most of us had thee mussels and they were delicious. The server was excellent. They have a great beer selection too.

My date just kept saying “oh wow” with every course. Server was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating. One of the best restaurant experiences in recent memory
Good menu and drink list. We ordered mussels and steak frites for our entrees, which were great, though the foie gras appetizer left a little to be desired. Good food, but maybe a little overpriced.
Excellent food and service. They could not find my reservation, but since they had a table available they seated us right away.
Food quality very good, mussels great, sides excellent, nice wine list and good beers. Value not bad. Menu selection rather limited but that seems to be the trend. Service a bit overbearing, seemed like whenever our server got bored (which was every few minutes) he would approach the table whether we needed help or not
Nice moules au vin blanc and only wish the foie gras brulee had been more foie gras and less cream. Very nice ambiance. Great service.
Mussels always great, and crab cake benedict was truly outstanding. Great place for brunch, excellent service, great food, very chill ambiance

All of our dishes (i.e. both the appetizers and main entrees) were served lukewarm, as if they had been sitting on a counter for a while before they served them to us. We also had to wait a very long time for our drinks and their refills, which completely breaks the mood of the evening. The quality of food is also mediocre at best (the crispy brussel sprouts were more burnt than crispy, the schnitzel was just ok, same thing with the duck, only the octopus was good). Considering the price of food and drinks at this place and all of the above, we will not be going there again.
This is an incredible restaurant. The mussels with goat cheese and sausage were cooked perfect and melted in your mouth, they were not chewy! The duck was like eating Filet Mignon and the service was perfect. We are definitely going back!
It was disappointing—fine but not great and extremely expensive for fine, and our table location was flat-out bad.
These people do not really know how to cook mussel, which is a handicap for a Belgium restaurant
Delicious mussels are a must. While the server was pleasant, it took a long time to order our food. They did bring a complimentary glass of sparkling rose to celebrate our anniversary, which was a wonderful touch. I plan on continuing to go here for our anniversary and recommend it to anyone that asks.
It's a charming looking restaurant. The menu, though extensive, is fairly limited. They seems odd, but they only have two sandwiches. My friend ordered the beet salad, which was good but very small. I ordered the salmon sandwich which came with fries. The fries were very good, but the salmon was way too salty.
Unless I wanted mussels, I wouldn't go back.
Outstanding service, scrumptious food, top wine selections and great ambiance. It was a perfect evening. Whether it’s dinner for 2 or a group, this is the place for a special night.
Love this place. Was a bit quiet when we went, but the food, as ever, was amazing! Great service too. You have to try the mussels.

The food was good and location easy to get to, but the service was lacking. At one point we were the only table in the restaurant (730pm reservation) and still didn’t get good service. We were also celebrating which was noted on the reservation but they never acknowledge it.
Three fans and one skeptic accepted Brasserie Beck’s “all you can eat” mussels offer for early supper on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was quiet when we came, pleasantly active when we tore ourselves away.
We explored the cocktail menu - bourbon blackberry julep! - and the fine list of beers on draft - try the crisp pale Eggenberg. We dove into mussels: with the doubter a version with bacon, the quiet guy the Mediterranean iteration, while the keenest fanatics chose the traditional white wine and garlic. Servings were presented with a flourish in hot cast iron. Servings were consumed with less flourish and seconds followed.
This is a transporting restaurant, a corner of Brussels on K Street. Service, led at our table by the charming Serge, was attentive and unobtrusive. In all a delightful evening that lingered at the end of the Red Line.
We've been to BB several times in the past and have always enjoyed it. Our recent visit was not up to earlier standards. The service was very slow and inattentive. The waiter didn't know much about the menu. His descriptions were wrong even after asking the chef. The food was also disappointing. The lamb and clam entree I had came with no clams. My Friend's steak was overcooked. My dessert was slightly burnt and very dry.
BB were having a special all you can eat mussels event. The two of us has somewhere around 90 mussels and three different wonderful belgian beer. After tax and tip $110
Brasserie Beck was perfect! My guest and I were shown to a quiet table by a window, without even having to ask. We had attentive, but not over-attentive, service, and the food was great, as I knew it would be. Hadn't been there in years, so I was glad it turned out so well. I'll be coming back, and my guest noted that she will add this to her list of good places to go when visiting DC. Highly recommended.

We had a great dining experience here! The service was excellent, accommodating of our 20 month old and non intrusive as well. The staff is very knowledgeable about their food. They came in to check on us later too and ask about our experience of dining with a toddler. I appreciate that they cared about the LO’s experience. Food was also great! I would go again. And we tried the restaurant week menu-which was great idea.
We went here for restaurant week at lunch. It was a great value. The service was impeccable. The salad and steak tartare shine, as did the chocolate dessert and frites.
We always love Brasserie Beck. Best mussels in DC and one of the few places in DC where I’ll order Steak Tartare. 👍
The overall experience was excellent. Servers were just the right amount of attentive. I ordered a stake medium-rare and it came to the table well done. It took less than 7 minutes for a completely new replacement meal to get to me, cooked perfectly. Ordered one of mussel appetizers - amazing!
One of the most under-rated restaurants in DC. Have been going there for the past 10 years and it simply never disappoints.
Big restaurant with very good mussels. Sectioned dining spaces with good privacy for business lunches. Pleasant outdoor seating on the broad sidewalk - good place to be in warmer weather.
I've been here for lunch and more recently for brunch, each time I was extremely satisfied. The mussels are delicious and the service was excellent. We made a reservation for brunch, but we probably didn't need one, because during our 12 o'clock appointment were very little people present, and plenty of space. Parking is a bit of an issue, but not too bad on the Sunday we went.
