We were a group of seven hungry and thirsty men, and the restaurant delivered in every way. Excellent, attentive service. With one exception (see below), on-point cocktails. And with one exception (see below), the food was well prepared, perfectly seasoned, and served at the appropriate temperature. The cocktail snafu: one of us ordered a "Makers Mark Manhattan up, no bitters." What was delivered was a bourbon and WHITE VERMOUTH in equal measures. Can you imagine? The bartender did not know how to make a Manhattan. Our waiter got this fixed for us, but we had to tell him how to make a Manhattan so he could tell the bartender. The food snafu: whatever they think they are serving for the item called "Steak tartare" is not steak tartare, which is be raw beef chopped and mixed with spices and condiments. What we got was lightly cooked chopped beef (we guessed it is lightly zapped in the microwave to cook it, management being afraid perhaps that raw beef might not be appreciated by diners who don't know French cuisine), then chilled, and then mixed with mayonnaise to hide the fact that what is being served is essentially a lightly microwaved burger. It was tasty enough, but it is not steak tartare. Perhaps better to just call it what is is: "beef mayonnaise" or "Boeuf mayonnaise" if you want to frenchify it. Final point: music was very loud. The restaurant is noisy enough with all the happy patrons. It was difficult to hear our normal dinner conversation. Other than that, we had a wonderful time, and enjoyed the evening. Our bill came to almost $1,000 with tax and tip, so I hope the Brasserie finds this review useful.

The cassoulet never fails. Tartare and pate also delish. Was very disappointed that there is now 20% service fee added and that the service fee was subject to DC restaurant tax of 10%. Unsure why the service fee has been added but definitely wasn’t there in prior visits.

Like the place but this time the food was off. Luke warm oignon soup ( cheese nor even Melted) Steak came raw with pungent sauce. Lemon tart frozen. Will try again hoping the Chef is in the kitchen that day.

Set menu during thanksgiving. Ambiance was pretty good and more people were there than I thought. Inside the restaurant is very nice, accept for a mildew smell at the front. The food was very mid, bordering on just plain bad. The Pate starter was way too overboard. They give you an entire brick for only 2 slices of bread. Pate was very bland, I’ve been eating it my whole life so I know what good pate tastes like. Cornichon were very dry and weak, not the pop of flavor you need. Steak frites was seriously bad. The sauce tasted like dirty dish water or a toilet (not exaggerating— it was that bad). I’m guessing something went very wrong as there is no way they would serve it if they tasted it themselves. When we told our server he didn’t even seem to care just said he’d get the kitchen started on making another one. Didn’t apologize didn’t care at all. Beef bourginoin was good but again was completely overboard. So much meat even as a grown adult male there was no way I could get through it all, especially with how rich the sauce is. Finally, our server. He was just bad. Was not attentive, assumed we wanted $8 water when water should be free, barely spoke to us, didn’t introduce himself or give us his name. Spent around 2 minutes with us the entire meal. For example— I really wanted Mac & Cheese as it’s thanksgiving and traditional. They don’t have it on the set menu but they do on their traditional menu. I asked if he could make an exception and serve it as a side. He looked around, thought about it, then just said no and walked away. When we were walking out I saw two tables with Mac and Cheese in a skillet just like in their traditional menu. I mean cmon. For the price, this place is absolutely not worth it. Especially since they auto include 20% service charge. My server did not deserve 20%. Not even close. I think he knew the tip was included in the meal and just didn’t care. $182 total for bad food and bad service. Do not recommend.

Made a reservation. Got there on time. Took us to the back of the restaurant just to tell us the table isn’t ready and to walk back up to the host stand. Fixed menu for Thanksgiving which is fine but it would have been nice to order other things on the menu. Couldn’t even upgrade the steak frites to filet Mignon. Waited 15-20 minutes for the waiter to come by the first time and when he got there he just said “what will you be having”. Not even a hello how are you doing, can I start you with a cocktail, welcome. We ordered drinks and our entire meal. The waiter came by 3 times the whole night. To take the order, refilled the water once, and drop the check. Everything else was done by a food runner that kept dropping food at the wrong tables. I got a different desert than what I ordered. My wife got a mocktail when she ordered a real cocktail. We didn’t realize it until we got the bill and saw the wrong drink. Overall the food was decent. Then we get the bill to see that there’s a 20% service charge already added to it. No wonder the waiter did the bare minimum. He’s getting 20% regardless. If that service charge wasn’t on the bill I would have left 10%. Maybe it’s better on a non holiday but damn. This was a tough one to swallow.

Charming cuisine option in Georgetown with parking close by. The meals were all very good. Service was consistent and the servers were very pleasant. The 20% service surcharge and the suggestion of a tip on top of that was a little excessive and when coupled with taxes made the final total a bit frightening. One might not be too happy if the service and meal were poor and you were still required to pay the service fee. It's worth a stop for lunch or dinner.

Wonderful dinner there tonight with family. Thank you to the fantastic waiter(s) and kitchen staff for a delicious meal and service. Especially loved that our waiter also spoke Spanish as half of our party speaks it as their first language. Great great night! Thank you! (We all mostly had the Steak Frites; but also Escargot and Pate for the apps…all delicious and perfectly cooked!).

The restaurant was full. There was a nice buzz of conversation, but then you had music. It was distracting and the result was that everyone at my table remarked that the music was not necessary. It certainly renders the establishment way less appealing. I don't know high end restaurants that do this.

Brassiere Liberte has become my favorite place for a special occasion or just a great brunch. Celebrated my birthday here this weekend and the food, service, and ambiance was amazing. My food highlights were the escargot, French onion soup, croque monsieur, & finished with the creme brulee. For drinks the Kir Royale or an espresso martini are always great choices. Can’t recommend enough!

This is my new favorite spot in DC. The service and food were excellent. I want to try everything on the menu. The beet carpaccio is a MUST! I could make a meal out of this alone. So good!

It is a great restaurant. I was very happy with the food and service. We had a great time. I was surprised to see a mandatory 20% tip added to the bill for a party of 4. I normally see that on much larger parties. I routinely tip that much anyway. Just off-putting.

A quiet dinner for 4 on a Monday evening. I know Monday nights are generally not ideal for getting the A team. The waitress was inexperienced but fine. The three salads we ordered were the best part of the meal. Two of us ordered the cassoulet. Too much bread crumbs, an inch thick, usually there is none. The duck was OK but only one piece of sausage and the beans were with a slightly sweet tomato base. The steak frites had an overcooked steak and soggy fries. The onion soup came out cold, twice.

Been here a few times, but last night (11/12/23) they were really off. Arrived about 20 mins early for our reservation. No problem, headed to the bar to grab a drink. Unfortunately, the bartender completely blew me off for a good 10 mins and then when he did acknowledge me - he leaned in to TELL ME that I could only order "easy drinks" because he was too busy to help me. He suggested I order a beer or a glass of wine.... Too funny! Once seated, our server was tired and not really interested in taking very good care of our party... You get the gist. And the food - meh. Probably skip Liberte going forward...

From food to service, Brasserie Liberte was an excellent and a delightful surprise! The duck confit was the best duck I have ever had and the slam n was impressively delicious. A must try for anyone who likes great and reasonably priced eating experience!

Service was EXCELLENT, seriously I didn’t mind the service charged because of how stellar service was, and actually tipped additional on top of that! The beef bourguignon is what we came for but it was honestly nothing special, presentation was also a bit sloppy. The dessert was fantastic. We got the flan which was 10/10 and the citron tart which was also pretty good. Overall 7.5/10 (again service was 11/10)

Such a great place for brunching in DC. We got a table on the patio and it was sunny and 70 degrees outside - perfect. Service was timely, we got our drinks right away, the food came out fast. My French 75 was delicious and the locks Benedict was scrumptious :) 10/10 recommend!

We had a lovely time but two major issues. One the hostess checked us in on accident and gave our table away we ended up eating at the bar which was fine by us and the bartender was wonderful. Our BIGGEST issue, the 20% service charge is NOT going in majority to your server. They are making just above minimum wage and if we did not ask we would have undertipped our server who was wonderful and deserved to be compensated properly. It made the pricing on the menu inaccurate as we still felt the need to tip on top of the service charge, and to be clear I do not mind a automatic gratuity if it is going to the service staff. Please be more transparent with your pricing and where your service charge is going.

Fantastic restaurant. I have allergies to onion and garlic and they were able to go out of their way to accommodate them. The chef even came out and spoke to me. David the owner (I think) checked on us often and was very gracious. Super restaurant - would highly recommend it!!!!
