If you want good Hispanic food at reasonable prices, don't go to Broken Spanish. The food was interesting and expensive to say the least. Chili Relleno stuffed with mashed potatoes for $17? Quesadillas with no cheese in blue taco shells for $19? If I had known that El Cholo was across the street, I would have gone there for authentic Mexican food.

Sorry, this place doesn't cut it with me.

What an amazing experience. Let me begin by saying that if you have the option, choose sitting at the counter. That corner is way less noisy (the whole place if packed if LOUD) and you actually see the chefs preparing the food. I like this kind of stuff.

We order (for 2 people): the cabbage salad, the spinach tamal, the pulpo, and the barbacoa. And for desert we did the lemon bar, cafe de olla, and arroz con leche. Drink wise we did a couple of coctails (don't remember which ones, I don't like cocktails), 2 sparking rose (very good), and a michelada. The michelada was probably the only disappointing thing of the night: it was more a mild spicy & salty shandy than a michelada.

The spinach tamal was FANTASTIC, who would have thought that spinach could be SO delicious? And the barbacoa is the best I've ever had in my life (and I lived in Mexico for a while). The meat was so fatty and delicious that jiggled all the way to your mouth, amazing.

I was not impressed with the lemon bar, it was a bit too sweet for me but then I really love very tart food. The cafe the olla was very very tasty and it really wasn't overpowered by coffee taste. My husband hates coffee with a passion and he loved it. And the best part of the arroz con leche was without doubt the different textures.

Now, the only thing you need to be prepare for is the price. Prices are high and servings are small, which I am ok with. As reference, my husband and I ended up full but not crazily so.

We went there for my wife’s birthday. This was our first time. Our waiter started out strong coming by regularly but then after our entrees came we did not see him again. And we were there a good 45 minutes after our entrees came. We had to look around to finally grab another waiter’s attention to show us the dessert menu and then the check.

We booked and noted it was a special occasion. No one asked us what it was upon arrival. It was my sister’s engagement. Ok whatever. Then, I’m clearly very pregnant. They seat us in the bar stools, alrighty then, we can work around this for a minute albeit uncomfortable. Their food is great, but their main dishes are VERY PROTEIN dense! There are no real sides which was a bummer.

This is some serious food. It’s a good thing bc it comes with a serious price tag. Our dinner was delicious. The service was spot on. The restaurant had a great vibe. I’m glad I had the opportunity to try Broken Spanish, as I don’t think I will be back anytime soon simply because it is so expensive, but man was it delicious.

Broken Spanish is one of the two truly great Mexican restaurants I have found out of the 100s I have eaten at in America, the other being Hugo’s in Houston Texas. There may be others, but these are the only two I would call truly great so far.

Really nice place. Nice staff. Great cocktail list. Menu VERY meat oriented, though. Disappointing with the world moving to plant-based. Spinach tamale was excellent. Papas nice and spicy. Fun place just SO much meat.

Food was different and god but very small portions. Server really did not seem to care. No personal attention except for rattling off extremely fast how to order and special items. Back room was very loud and could not even hear each other so if you are dining with a date, eat elsewhere. We probably would not return.

The restaurant is beautiful. Service is great. Tapas style menu. The food is delicious, but kind of spicy. Everything we ordered (4 items) all had the same medium spice level. I had their margarita, which was delicious. The prices were really high. I'm glad we went, as this has been on our list of places to try. But I probably won't go back...A little too spicy, and too expensive.

The service were was practically non existent. After ordering cocktails and food everything had been rushed out of the kitchen onto our table. We had dishes right after another and no time to enjoy the dishes. We had been sat for less than half an hour and our whole meal had been finished because of the lack of coursing. Within an hour of dinning we had had a full meal for three including dessert. We never anticipated being rushed out the door on a slow Monday night. The three of us left confused and disappointed on the experience we had that night. The food however, was delicious, although, we wish we could have enjoyed each dish with more time.

VALET STOLE MY SUNGLASSES AND CARD HOLDER. It was very obvious the valet attendants stole my stuff because upon receiving my car, I noticed my personal belongings from the center console was spread out on the passenger seat. I also had a gift card envelope with the contents inside stolen.

Note: the restaurant said the valet is a third party company. It may be a bit unfair to rate a restaurant based on this, but the overall experience turned very sour (and it wasn’t great to start with).

Honestly, the food is great. I don’t remember the names of the food, but we had the short rib, octopus, corns, both tamales, tortilla, quesadillas, and the rice pudding. For party if 6, our bill came out to $340 and the boys left hungry. If you’re looking for value, this isn’t the place to go. But if you’re looking for some good food, I recommend this place.

Food came incredibly fast considering how long we had to wait. We had a reservation for 5 at 9:15pm and didn’t get seated till 10:10. We tried calling the restaurant multiple times to let them know we were going to have 6 people instead of 5 but no one ever picked up. At 9:15, the restaurant called me to see if we were coming - we were at the valet already. We let her know that we had 6 people instead of 5 and she wouldn’t accommodate us. If we wanted to have 6 people, we had to wait an hour. This was a bit frustrating because we wanted to let the restaurant know earlier but no one picked up. She mentioned the table setup for us was for 4 people and they were going to add a side chair for the 5th person. We didn’t want the bar because it was a birthday dinner. Also, she had no explanation on why no one picked up the phone throughout the day. Finally, she said she’ll squeeze us in. An hour later, we were seated. Thanks for squeezing us in.

Overall, it was a bad first impression. Drinks + good food+ good company is always a plus. Valet charging me $15 and my friend $9 was a joke (he came right after me).

Food was phenomenal. Service was on point, everything I expected. If I lived closer and had more money I would be here a lot more. Tables are a little close and we unfortunately sat next to a grumpy older couple, took away from our experience but that was beyond the restaurants control. The other couple next to us was great. Definitely a must.
