Loved the atmosphere, delicious food, consistent and always busy!! Make sure you book! Menu has something for everyone
By far the best cuisine in Australia! We stumbled upon this family run and owned restaurant on our last night there and were blown away. Steve, one of the waiters, is very attentive and good at what he does. If you are looking for a great intimate space with phenomenal farm to table style cuisine, then Brown Sugar is for you!
So easy to walk down and enjoy a fabulous meal with wonderful attention to service by Steve. Food is consistently outstanding. Always a great night at Brown Sugar.
Consistently great yummy food. Our waiter was fabulous and very helpful. I go back time and time again and aiways fabulous. Local fav!!!
We have eaten here quite a number of times and would have to say it seems to get better each time. The fish pie is the stand out but all the other food is fabulous. I’m already looking forward to the next time!
Fish pie is awesome! We will be back and make sure you keep this signature dish !!
Fantastic service, in fact a very high standard. Food was great! Ribeye very tender & tasty
This is a hidden gem in Sydney - great food, friendly and competent service - and BYO! Steve and the team are sensational, try it out. Skander
Great food and service. Unfortunately it is impossible to hear each other as the room is so noisy and it doesn’t help play it music nobody can hear.
Good food, no conversation possible because of unbearable noise level
I went to Brown Sugar for my birthday lunch. We booked a table and were seated outside which was perfect as it was a really nice day. The noise level was therefore minimal. There was enough room for a table of six plus two babies. The food menu is quite extensive and everything sounded great. We ordered a variety of meals for lunch including from the all-day breakfast menu. All dishes looked really appetising and were well presented. I had the breakfast platter which was generous and really yummy. The service could have been more attentive but it was a busy day so I understand that things can get a bit hectic. They also brought the wrong meal out for my friend but corrected their error straight away and without any fuss. I'd absolutely go back and try more dishes - I thought the food was fantastic. Everyone around the table was very happy with their meals. The prices are reasonable - it's not cheap but I wouldn't call it expensive either.
The food was awesome and the service was spectacular - helpful, attentive and enthusiastic.
One of my most favorite restaurants. A neighborhood gem with fabulous service and delicious food always!
Great BYO venue. Good food and Steve and his team are super friendly and good at their craft.
Great food and fantastic atmosphere! This is our favorite place to catch with friends in all of Sydney.
Wonderful food the fish pie is a must
Always excellent from entree through to desert. The duck was our highlight of the night.
My favourite restaurant in Bondi Beach. Friendly and efficient staff, great menu and a lovely place to spend an afternoon or evening.
We really enjoy this neighbourhood local. Great service, music’s reasonably low key, you can hear your dining companion and the food is delish, the wine list is reasonable too.
The food is really good value and I always get my meat fix here. Beautiful scotch fillet on the bone!
Has consistently delivered for a long time with creative well cooked food fair wine list and good value for money a reliable lical
So delicious. Exceeded expectations and want to go back asap. Very busy so make a reservation.
The food is always amazing! One of my favourite restaurants. They just know food and the staff are so friendly and engaging.
Brown Sugar was the best bit about visiting Bondi Beach. Service was generally good, but we felt pressurised to order wine. Disappointed that bread that was offered to soak up dinner was charged for! Otherwise a lovely evening, great atmosphere, wouldn't recommend if you want a quiet meal!
Great cozy restaurant in Bondi - the fish pie is a must try.
Outside tables are a bit quieter!
Our go-to restaurant when we stay in Bondi for Scuplture by the Sea. Over many years it has never disappointed. The quality of the cuisine is consistently excellent, the service exuberant and friendly. A small venue, cosy to the point of crowded when full, but so far never to the point of frustration for us.
Brown sugar was absolutely amazing as usual. All the food was absolutely incredible. The fish pie is an absolute must.
A family favourite for birthdays. Never disappointed and the food this time seemed even better than before. Their steaks are without peer.
Delicious food with focus on local ingredients and exceptional and very personal service! What a gem! The chocolate fondant was to die for, will definitely visit again.
Lovely meal, tasty good, well presented, helpful service. We will be back
Great food and service as always! However, the table was literally in a busy thoroughfare of staff walking briskly up and down millimeters from the table. My feet on a couple of occassions strayed outside the tiny confines of the table and I nearly tripped up a couple of staff. The location of this table definitely adversely impacted the enjoyment of our dining experience. I should have learnt my lesson by now, and always request a nice table for a special occassion, whether the occassion is special or not.
Had a great dinner at Brown Sugar, would highly recommend! We had the tuna starter followed by the lamb and fish pie with chocolate fondant for dessert. The highlight of the meal was definitely the fish pie, it had an amazing depth of flavour while still managing to be quite a light dish. That said the other dishes were all brilliant too and the fact that it's BYO also meant that we could bring a really nice bottle with us for a fraction of the price. The service was really good, staff were attentive without being intrusive and the free brownie at the end of the meal was a really nice touch.
Always great service and food.
Fish pie and steak are the obvious options and they’re great.
Steve believes in old fashion ways - good service, a smile and personally contacting you to confirm
Brown Sugar is more than one would expect from a small neighbourhood restaurant. The fact it is always crowded is proof of the exceptional position it holds - it is very casual and the room is fairly rough, the waiting staff are all fairly relaxed but efficient (part owner Lianne and manager Steve offer a great front of house welcoming). The food naturally is what it is all about and - top quality from a top quality part owner chef). Serving sizes are generous
The fish pie is famous and the roasted tomatoes spaghettini is better than any pasta with tomatoe sauce anywhere in the world. BYO is ok, and the little chocolate brownie that comes with your coffee is the small reminder of how good Brown Sugar is!
This place is always awesome. The food I seriously good and the wait staff make you feel like old friends.
I never usually review restaurants, but I have to review Brown Sugar. We went on one of the busiest days of the year - City2Surf! We had booked a table in advance and as it was understandably busy, we had to wait a while for a table. But I didn't mind as the staff and management were amazing. They were clearly run off their feet, but took the time to greet everyone with a smile, and made sure guests were looked after. I had an amazing Bloody Mary with my lunch, and can recommend the Black Stone Eggs! Will go there again.
Great food! Great service. I love this place.
Delicious food, excellent service and solid wine list. Well worth a visit.
