   Spent my birthday here and opted for the paella experience and it was great! The staff were so nice and they even lit a candle for my dessert and gave my party complimentary cava. I truly enjoyed it here and it was a lovely way to spend my birthday. I’ll definitely come back!

   This place is great, very friendly staff, delicious food, and great wine! It was a little loud, for me, because of acoustics, but it wasn’t too disruptive to the conversation.

   We came here on a Friday evening with coworkers; everyone absolutely loves this place! It's conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from muni. The food was absolutely delicious and the service extraordinary. Will come here again!

   Canela is always such a great experience - I usually dine at the bar (where Chris is the best bartender & server)! This time, I came with a group to celebrate my birthday and the staff was amazing - they greeted us and celebrated with us! The food is exceptional at Canela - there are lots of vegetarian options and the staff will help recommend serving sizes and complementary dishes. Thanks Canela!

   Had a lovely birthday dinner here! The hostess gave us complimentary champagne when she noticed we had reserved a birthday dinner. We had the chef’s tapas prefixe which was delicious and way too much food.

    My husband and I had a wonderful time! The service was fast, the food was beyond delicious, and everyone was very nice. Our wine showed up before our server was even done taking our order because she put it in the iPad. I love that!! They do not have liquor, but that was okay with me. I was VERY impressed with the croquetas, bacon wrapped dates, and gazpacho and very much enjoyed the mushroom paella (very large dish), empanadas, and steak. The bread pudding and churros were excellent too! We definitely had leftovers but can't wait to come back and try more.

    Always great food and wonderful wines and friendly service. Much greater value and more fun than restaurants in the same price range. Check out the variety in their wine selection and always order the gespacho of the day.

    Simply Magnificent. The Manager Paul and his staff took such great care of our group of 9 celebrating a graduation. His choices of wine and food for us were all excellent. It was such a memorable and lovely experience for our family. Bravo Canela!

    Such a great spot — we were running late after an appointment and the staff was very kind and accommodating to ensure we had a lovely time despite our tardiness. Great for romantic dates, friend dates or small group gatherings!

    Large group reservation, very good service and recommendations for food and drink. We ended up with the perfect amount of food and the timing of plates was good. We asked for some dietary modifications (gluten, dairy, egg) and those were easily accommodated. I’ve been here with a small group before which was a good experience so I made a reservation for a large group special occasion. Definitely recommend.

    Service was very friendly. Outdoor seating was NOT even slightly comfortable and highly un-recommended. Indoor seating was truly frightening with people packed together during the highest SF covid surge of the entire pandemic, absolutely insane behavior. Servers unmasked. Food was good, not fabulous, not quite as good as it used to be. Wine list is small but has some interesting options, and thankfully is not fully Rioja/Ribera. BUT, virtually nothing under $50 (maybe 1 bottle?), this is not acceptable. Spanish wine is such great value it's a real shame to not provide a few affordable options.

    Not a Michelin but very very good.. Especially good were the Gambas al Ajillo and the peppers (forgot the exact name). Server was extremely sharp about the food and wine although a tad too solicitous. A place I would return to.

    Usually enjoy Matt;s Passover dinner. Unfortunately this year it was off. Manin course tasted like a second dose of matsah ball soup and not alternates like prior years. Service all always was great. Nice to see crowd back but with piped in music on top, makes hearing difficult.

    Canela is our go to for a nice evening out in the Castro. The ambiance is intimate and inviting. Service was friendly and attentive. Food and wine delicious! Accommodating when we asked for a table change. Look forward to going back!

    The food and the service were great! We were more than happy to try so many item on the tapas menu! Most of the dishes really pleased our tastebuds!!! We loved in particular the pulpo, patatas bravas, setas, and bacon wrapped dates!

    We had the paella prix fix, and left super full and satisfied. Everything at Canela is wonderful, but our favorites include the bacon wrapped dates, and anything with octopus (pulpo). The chef is an absolute master at preparing octopus, it’s always perfectly tender. They have an excellent wine selection, and definitely save room for dessert, the key lime cheesecake is tart and refreshing. Everyone who works there is lovely, and will take great care of you.

    Went on a Saturday evening during Restaurant Week. They had two fixed menus, a 4-course or 9-course. Both were same price. We chose the 4 course, which included sauteed mushrooms, roasted bone marrow, braised octopus and pork loin. Everything tasted amazing. Bold, savory flavors and the portions were larger than we expected. The restaurant was very busy, with all tables full and all seats at the bar taken, but where we were seated, near the front window, it felt very quaint and the nose level was manageable. Highly recommend!
