Cardamom Indian Cuisine
This was my first time visiting and I am definitely going back! Delicious food and friendly staff.
It was a pleasant surprise. Service was fast, food was delicious. Beautifully decorated restaurant. It was our first time and we will definitely make it a staple. Would suggest to everyone. Great extensive menu.
The food was good, but the service was probably one of the worst I've experienced. The waitress taking our order had a bad attitude and was not friendly. First of all, one of our plates were dirty so we asked her if we can get a new one. She simply just wiped it with a dry cloth and gave it back to us. We asked if the entrees came out as family style or individual portions. She said it was individual so we all chose our own dishes. When taking our order, she wouldn't let some of us order the same items saying that we already had someone else on the table ordering the same thing... When delivering our food, she handed hot items to us directly instead of placing on the table. I've worked in many restaurants and that is a safety issue.
When we were finished with our meal, one of the waiters dropped food on my friend's lap and did not say a thing until she made a comment. Only then did he apologize. We wouldn't have minded, since everyone makes mistakes, but at least acknowledge it!
Delicious food and staff was very friendly and professional- they really did their best to be sure our party was happy and content. Definitely would recommend to others and will go back again even though it is outside of my area- about a 45 minute drive! Was worth it!
We love Cardamom and have been dining here for years, but this Saturday we celebrated my mother’s birthday here and it was the perfect venue. The entire staff is friendly and provide just the right balance of attention and space. This is hands down the best Indian food in Los Angeles — every dish we’ve ever had is delicious. The beautiful restaurant and fabulous staff make it the perfect place for everyday dining as well as a special occasion.
The curry is great, which is hard to find on the west side. The service was friendly though I think they struggled to understand our English accents. It was hard to judge the spice level - we both asked for medium and it was a bit on the fiery side. They prepared all the food at once - told us the main was ready when we were half way through the appetizer- which made the whole thing feel a bit rushed. Lovely ambience though and nice curry, will go again.
It’s our favorite place to have Indian when we visiting from the East coast. Their chicken makhani is sooo yummy...once you start you can’t stop!
Great food and ambiance
We've been to Cardamom before. It is, in general excellent. There were only 2 problems: the chicken in dishes like tikka masala has been consistently dry. And this time our waiter lost track of us.
Most dishes were flavorful. Rice and naan were great. Would not recommend the Tandoori chicken.
We have been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, however if you are looking for the standard slate of Indian dishes you may be a little disappointed, as the offerings on the menu are creative and draw from regional cuisines that are less often found in Indian restaurants in the US. One of the things that we enjoy most about the restaurant besides the food is the quiet ambiance, its a great place to go with a good friend for quiet conversation. We'd recommend the restaurant to anyone who enjoys South Asian cuisines.
Fantastic food and service! Best Indian restaurant in LA!!!
We ate there last night and had some of the best Indian food we've had in Los Angeles and we are hard to please. The food is tasty, fresh and authentic. The service was great and the waiters and staff could not have been more accommodating. If you like Indian food. This is a MUST try
Cardamon is a very pleasant, cut-above Indian restaurant., likely the best in the area. Menu items include small plates (the haryali murgh chicken is especially delicious), main courses (try the saag gosht lamb) featuring seafood, chicken, beef and lamb, cooked in tandoor and a variety of other methods, and from a several regions of India. The clientele included several Indian groups, which is always a good sign. Food preparation and presentation was excellent, service was quick and pleasant, and the ambience was pleasant and at reasonable decibel level. We will return often to try the wide variety of dishes.
While we have enjoyed going to Cardamon before, we noted that the food was exceptionally excellent this time around: the sag paneer, the chicken tikka masala, tandoori shrimp. I complimented the maitre d' on the way out and asked about changes in their service; I was told that they now have an Indian chef who has just come from London. It explained it all!! It was exactly like eating at one of my favorite Indian restaurants in London. Also, the acoustics make it easy for dinner conversations. Hats off to Cardamon!
Delicious but pricey.
As a Brit living in LA, this is the closest I've had to a British Indian dining experience (which is a good thing).
This was a pleasant surprise. I’ve visited India for just three weeks, so I’m not a big expert but I would say the food here was really good. I especially liked their special house salad which is huge and has a lot of cauliflower, as well as other vegetables. I would suggest asking them for a different dressing, not the blue cheese. I used the yogurt-based sauce ( which I would not call Raita, but maybe I’m wrong) which they served with the chutneys and it was delicious on the salad. The papadum was light and flavorful and the saag paneer was wonderful!
I don’t take pictures of food in the restaurant so I don’t have any pictures for you but it was served very nicely. And last but not least, I’m not a hard-core wine snob, but I thought this restaurant had a decent wine list.
Nice people, nice atmosphere.
Best Indian in LA! Service could be better....
Adequate but unexceptional. Nice dining room. Large menu, claimed to be "contemporary style" but to us it looked just like London circa 1990. Typical Indian service - efficient but not particularly friendly. Nothing is included (rice, raita, bread, papadom, chutney - and they are pricey) so bill climbs fast.
The entire meal we had was just perfect. Their customer service was excellent. We will definitely go back there again.
Friendly, courteous greeting and service. Great chef! Every dish came out hot and delicious. Very fair prices. Wine by the glass:many choices, fair prices. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Looking fo many more excellent meals here.
Great food very much like we had on our trip to India.
Delish delish delish best Indian in la
Delicious food. Great Nonveg platter. Good wine list. Great service. Clean. Ample parking. Rare to find a place with genuinely delicious Indian food.
The service was very authentic, respectful and helpful. My friend was debating between a Rose or Malbec wine and our server brought both for her to taste.
The menu is vast and gives good details of the Indian cuisine.
We enjoyed an early dinner before the theatre.
Great authentic food, really good flavors! Service was very attentive.
Best Indian food in Fairbox
We happened upon this place as it is near the Grove and we wanted a quiet dinner after shopping. We were greeted warmly and the service was also great. The food was very good and we shared several dishes - all prepared classicly and well.
Best Indian restaurant by far! Amazing flavors of north and south India. Original/traditional "home" cooking with the feel of modern day India. Definitely going back!
Authentic and delicious curry house style Indian food. Just what these two Brits were craving.
Love the food and the service!
Food was extremely good - and the waiters were excellent. Very attentive and thoughtful. Had our own corner because we had a party of 6 with an eight month old baby. They were so acommadating to our needs! Will for sure come back- so nice!
Ambience is good. Presentation of food was good. I generally order Biryani and some kind of curry like palak paneer or butter chicken. We started out with appetizer platter, which was the best part of meal. Biryani and butter chicken was next. In my opinion, it isn't the authentic dum biryani but it was good. Butter Chicken was tasty but more Punjabi makhni style than Mumbai style. I don't blame them, it was written as Murgh (chicken) Makhni, so I suppose thats ok. I would've preferred the latter style. I think overall it was satisfying, Waiting staff was very good, much better than regular Indian restaurants.
I grew up on Indian food in England.
This place does it right.
Amazing food! British Indian food done right in LA! Will be coming back here regularly!
The food and service at Cardamom is always great. If you like Indian food, try them if you are in the area or before a film at Quentin Tarantino's Art Theatre a few steps away. I would call it a place for "foodies", but they have beef on the menu. I know that's odd for Indian, but they are really about giving the customer their best service and food. Every dish I've had (I've eaten there at least 3 times) has been delicious!
wonderful and quaint..food is superb and service outstabding.. a touch of class !
This restaurant was fine. I had chicken tikka masala and it was OK nothing great nothing terrible although some of the chicken pieces were a little hard which is strange because it can be melt in your mouth soft. The restaurant was lacking atmosphere and the service was just kind of perfunctory. I was disappointed because I love Indian food and feel like we really need a nice restaurant that has good Indian food not just fast Indian food or buffet type Indian food. There is such an opportunity for this restaurant to create more of an experience, that's what people are looking for more and more when they go out to dinner, not just the dinner. That's some of what was lacking here, the other was just that the food was passable not delectable, as it was in India!
This was my first time at the restaurant and I will be going back! It smells wonderful just walking into the door. Everything was delicious! The owner came by the table and has pride in what he does. The chef is from the UK, which explains why this is so good! If you have not been to England, the Indian food there is fantastic, and so was this! Congrats on a great restaurant!
Enjoyed the great food and causal fairly quiet environment.Very nice decor.
