Contemporary French
The Champagne Cave at Marchesa is a lavish, subterranean lair dedicated to the pursuit of bubbles from all around the world served with gourmet bites from Chef Didier Durand. Libations include boutique wines & modern spirits crafted into classic cocktails, paired with delicious French & European fare. Winter small plates include steak tartare, artisan charcuterie, escargots Burgundy & a sublime caviar parfait. Heartier options from Marchesa, the sister restaurant above, are available, too.. The couch seating in the intimate, boho-chic space, complete with its own bar and barrel-vaulted ceilings, is designed with comfort in mind. The extravagant decor is accented with resin tusks, eclectic artwork, silk velvet Venetian sofas, exotic lanterns & travel rugs. An under-the-sidewalk crayère, name the Taittinger Vault, replicates the rough-hewn limestone caves found below the grand marques Champagne houses. A DJs keep the mood chill until the wee hours, to dance the night away.

At first we got there and it was beautiful, chill, lovely and romantic. Then at 9pm they had the misguided idea of bringing in a DJ who was very loud and more disco than wine room. It was no longer possible to have a conversation or even to place an order so we left after. Boo on the DJ, but if you get there before him it’s really nice.

An absolutely amazing place. Glad I found this chic cozy hideout for drinks and date and just relaxing. Ambience stunning. The hostess Nikki is absolutely wonderful with her pleasant welcoming personality. Will come back over and over again to enjoy drinks here and to be served by Nikki.

We had excellent champagnes and a whole host of snacks and desserts. Our waitress was very professional. It was a very nice evening.

Nice place and atmosphere. Limited menu. The poor bartender/waitress/hostess was doing everything for the whole place without help. She did as well as could be hoped for. The management of the restaurant (upstairs) should be ashamed of themselves.

Thank you for the kind words & so sorry that we were short a few key staffers when you visited. Nikki, the manager of the Cave, appreciates you noticed she was wearing many hats. As an equity owner in the business, she sends her apologies as well & wants to invite you back for a night on her! Please call 312.527.9535 to arrange your next visit. We truly apologize that our normal service standards, which we take great pride in providing, were lacking & hope we can make it up to you. Thank you.
