   Brilliant day to watch the rugby and have very tasty food and drink. The team at Cold Town House were also able to accommodate or bookings so we had the table all day.

   Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Drinks service was efficient however food took 40 minutes to come after ordering seemed a little excessive as didn’t see many other people eating most were in for drinks only, where we were anyway.

    Ideal pre rugby lunch. Good selection of reasonably priced food. Quite busy, so service was a little slow. Not bc a dealbreaker though.

    Lovely atmosphere with pretty flowers everywhere and very friendly staff. Made us feel very welcome. Sadly was quite chilly and the heating on the table was broken however we did manage to get some blankets. Pizzas and burgers were yummy but dessert was a little underwhelming. Good choice of drinks and nice mocktails too. Overall, a lovely night with friends and would come back

    Food was absolutely fantastic and the venue had a really good selection of drinks. However, service was really poor and we had to ask multiple times for a food menu, despite being asked at the door if we intended on having food. The waitress we were dealing with scoffed at us and checked the drinks menu/clipboard as if to say that the food menu should be with that (as it usually is) as if we hadn't seen it to prove us wrong - but no menu was there. On top of this, when it came to pay the bill, there were additional items and drinks charged to our table that we hadn't ordered - which resulted in another staff member hesitantly taking them back off. Would go again but the service is relatively off-putting.

    Food and beers were ok, fairly average. It's a nice place, however I had friends staying over for the weekend from France and specifically booked the middle level, as its quieter and a different vibe from more noisy, boisterous bottom bar - Cold Town house took my booking three weeks prior, only for us to discover this level was shut when we arrived (why no fore warning?) The music was too loud on the bottom level, and the waitress was trying to take plates away before members of my party were even finished their meal. Overall, not a great experience, and disappointing experience for my visitors.

    Staff were attentive but not to pony where they bug you every 5 /10 mins. They were so ice accommodating and polite very friendly and helpful when we had questions about menu or drinks. Food was lovely wood fired pizza and drinks were so good. Staff organised table for us at bar after our dinner pizza prosecco bar. Was great evening .

    Lovely service from a guy in a white long shirt and abysmal service from a guy in a black t-shirt. Food was delicious! Drinks unbelievable and also amazing non alcoholic cocktails. Brilliant time except the guy in the black t-shirt!

    We were really looking forward to our visit, given the reviews online, the location and menu we were really looking forward to it. The service was good but for a busy Friday night the waitress could have done with an extra hand. The main food was ok, a little greasy as well. The main pull for us was the brownie volcano sharing dessert which looked amazing however thd brines were overdone and rock solid, the strawberries sour and overall just very disappointing.

    We had to wait around 15 mins for our table which since it was pre booked was a bit annoying. The food was fantastic although a tad pricey but seeing as Edinburgh is the capital it was expected. This was booked for my birthday as online it seemed like a really nice restaurant in a good area. When we got there it didn’t look like the photos, was more of a sports bar with football on massive tvs and lots of shouting sports fans. We would have went elsewhere if we knew that was what it was like. As long as your not expecting a cute date night it’s quite good.

    As always it’s a fab place for food and drink, the only disappointment this time was the heater had no gas and there were no blankets. Given it’s a roof top bar I would expect these to be fully stocked

    Having visited Cold Town House previously it was an easy choice to make to come back with friends whilst visiting Edinburgh for the rugby. Food as always was brilliant, cocktails spot on too. Only complaint was despite stating we were there for food and drink, we ordered and received our first round of drinks- it then became difficult to order food. We had to stop and ask staff on 3 occasions if we could order and it took nearly an hour to do so. I appreciate it was busy, probably largely due to the rugby so it's not a huge deal and wouldn't put me off visiting again.

    Over salty starter and chips with main. Would rather add, or nor, own salt. But noisy so hard to talk, maybe more suited to younger crowd.

    Nice bar at the foot of the castle. Trendy decor. 6 pounds for a pint of craft beer so not cheap. Staff friendly . Food was nice , just had a starter.
