Connie and Ted's
Enjoy one (or two) of 24 California craft beers on tap, while sampling from our large variety of oysters, clams and shellfish, shucked to order, at our Raw Bar. Wind down the day with a classic cocktail at the bar, or enjoy a warm lobster roll outside on the covered, open-air patio overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard.
What Insiders Are Saying
Take Connie and Ted’s for what it is and you will love it: a fun, casual place to grab a cold beer and some oysters with friends. Just don't listen to the hype and expect much more.
Good food and location. But got put off right from the beginning when the hostess was rude during seating.
I love Connie and Ted's. I have been to this restaurant a few times and am never disappointed. Being from New England I appreciate the authenticity of their seafood, it is all so delicious. The service is also always great!
Great food and service; lively unpretentious atmosphere
the food and service was HORRIBLE. We spent nearly $200 for 3 .
Gumbo - was way too salty. we asked for extra rice, they said no because it's out then we asked to double check and they gave us one more bowl of rice but charged $3.00 ?!!!
oyster assortment - we ordered a dozen. no one introduced what is what and how to start - Hog island SF or other oyster restaurant always tell people how to start with as different oyster has different texture , some are creamy some are not ...... something like that.
black cod california - $37.00. way overpriced - it's not well cooked - i can't even cut thru but then been told there's bone inside ??! it's frozen fish. Our host din't even say Sorry - she just said she will let the kitchen know then walked away , excuse me ??!!!
lobster roll - not bad.
will never come back and recommend friends - btw, we are from San Francisco
Great food. They didn’t get my Order right
Great time! Legit NE food, great selection, will come back
A casual spot with sophisticated flavors. Ed’s Portuguese Fisherman’s Stew is the best anywhere. Lobster poutine was worth the calories. Don’t miss the cast iron skillet bread. The smoked fish spread on saltines is a tasty starter.
Had the fried skate. Found it to be a little heavy on the salt. I have high blood pressure and know when it gets spiked. Grilled calamari is always a great starter as well as the clam chowder.
If you grew up in the East like I did, you will love the fried clams, steamers and all the other back east dishes. The Oysters are quite good and from many different places. You must try the clam chowder trio (small cup of each). Really original and great food.
Always felt like when we came in the door they were trying to get us out the door. The drinks were not good because they tried to pass off a last part of a bottle as a shot, but I complained but they took care of. Food was really good, service was good because waiter female was great. It was busy because peepsloved food and price and place.
Dessert was mediocre and expensive. Loved the cod and the baked potato.
Loved the huge variety of oysters - very fresh. Entrees were terrific. Waiters were on point. Reception a bit rude - but that was only drawback
Excellent food, waiter was nice but not very attentive. Bar server seemed rushed, unfriendly, rarely smiled.
Manager made an error with our payment and never told us. I called later and that's when he said he made an error with the credit cards. He should have told us his mistake when we were there.
Absolutely horrible. People screaming at each other, it was so loud. No effort to have any semblance of decent furniture.
Honestly the food was really amazing, but the service was pretty bad. My guest and I arrived and had a reservation for 8:30. We got there at that time and there were a few tables open and they said that they needed to seat other parties before us , but would let me know when the table was ready. My friend and I opted to sit at the bar instead seeing as that was open and we wouldn't have to wait for a table (that we reserved that time for). We get to the bar and there are 3 people working behind it and a solid 10 minutes go by before we're acknowledged and get our drinks ordered. We then wait several more minutes to place our food order and had to flag someone over to us to take the order and after we get the food, no one checks to see if we need anything or water. No water refills either. Getting the check felt like an eternity. There are other amazing seafood restaurants at that price point or less where I can get quality and friendly service.
Clamchowder thin with lots of uncooked potatoes and very few clams
Oyster A+ but the rest was mediocre
We ordered the lobster roll (which was very good) and the striped bass market special. Although the bass was described as being 6 oz. it was barely the size of 3 oz. We do not mind paying good money for food if it is worthwhile, but $42 for 3 oz. of fish is insulting. When we mentioned this to the waitress, all she said was “well it’s 6 oz.” - not a satisfying answer plus she was very unfriendly. We would definitely not recommend this restaurant to our friends nor will we eat there if we are ever in Los Angeles again.
The woman at check in was not the friendliest. Perhaps she was having a bad night. But we specifically requested a high top table, as we always do when we go to this restaurant - which is often. As she walked us by an empty high top I asked if she saw our request. Her reply was that she had, but didn’t think we’d wan to be by the door because “no one does.” We sat there and had no problem with it. Next time a smile and asking the guest what they prefer would be good.
Always a good go to for a casual personal/business dinner or Lunch. Casual, Good food, good service, good wine/beer list and the greatest lobster rolls this side of the Mississippi River.
So noisy in the patio, could not hear our guest!
The fried clams, onion rings and steamers were all tasty and closest in style and taste to clams that I have eaten in Boston and New England.
We LOVE Connie & Teds. We eat there often. And love taking first time customers there. You can NEVER fail with their ultra fresh seafood! One of the few places where we trust the freshness of their oysters, always! There is nothing on the menu we haven't tried and loved. And of course the biggest plus is being able to get the fantastic soft shell clams. They are a birthday tradition for me. The clams are hard to find outside of Boston and always fresh and delicious! The roasted sweet potato salad is another favorite. The special skate entree with gravy was outstanding! They did not disappoint, terrific as always. They were very busy Friday and were able to accommodate us running late, nevertheless. Their staff is top notch and very welcoming. Our only complaint was that the food took longer than usual to hit our table (the main courses). However it is understandable seeing how busy they were. It gave us more time to talk and enjoy our outstanding drinks. This will continue to be our go-to place for excellent seafood and wonderful service. It's not cheap, but worth every dollar for the freshness and the skill their chefs exhibit.
Food has gone downhill. Service was slow. Overpriced.
The food is very good and so was the service. But, the portions are small and their prices aren't
Excellent host, two female servers. One male server not so good. Everything else was great.
Good food. A little pricey but great for a special night out.
Delicious food. Fairly priced. Recommend highly. Large menu. Want to go again soon!!
My husband and I love this place, we love the New England style seafood and the food is always great. Also, the staff is very accommodating and friendly, and always provide a great experience. And it's easy to get a table, even though it's busy, which is my favorite part!
I have been a regular at Connie & Ted's for a number of years. Good, reliable seafood, though the emphasis is on fish, clams, oysters, lobster. No crab.
The patio is significantly quieter. The main room inside is VERY noisy (bad acoustics).
My only disappointment this last visit was that the restaurant changed their loyalty program without telling anyone. It used to be that, if you got 300 points ($1 food = 1 point), you'd get $30 off. Well, I exceeded 300 points, but when my check didn't reflect the $30 discount, I asked why and was told that management had changed the program to require 500 points, as of Jan 1, 2019. Well, the only problem is that the restaurant never announced that change. They don't hesitate to put out information (events, specials, etc) on postcards that are clipped to the check, but I saw no postcard announcing that change. I thought that was very poorly handled by restaurant management.
Not as good as previous visits. Food was very slow to come out and it came out at different times. One of our orders of fries only had broken ends and really shouldn't have gone out to a table. One of us had the chicken fried skate, which was very good, but it was served with embarrassingly bad hockey puck bisquits that hadn't risen properly. The biscuit gravy looked like it had been thickened with corn starch instead of flour which you would expect for a gravy biscuit and it was just not quite right. We had a wonderful server, but left feeling a bit hungry and underwhelmed.
Best selection of oysters and fish in West Hollywood
The service throughout the evening was impeccable even on a busy Friday night we were checked on every few minutes. The wine and beer were an exceptional start and the food ranging from the appetizers of calamari, rolls, salads to the entree's of shrimp boil and monk fish for our party were absolutely outstanding. The desert was outstanding as well. Connie and Ted's is one of the best place in the west-side LA area and should be a must on every foodie's list. Can't wait to go back and enjoy it again.
An excellent seafood/fish restaurant! It never disappoints. Select your favorites and you will be very happy!
Great seafood and an awesome burger rated by Jonathan Gold!
I would have preferred friendlier service, and it would have been nice if we'd been seated on arrival, since we had a reservation and could see plenty of empty tables.
Will be back anyway for the fun vibe and great food!
Wonderful staff and delicious food. The blondie was collectively voted as one of the best desserts anyone at our table has ever had.
So amazing! One of the best and most authentic seafood restaurants in LA. Already planning my next trip back!
Disappointing. Food was marginal. Expected better
Great seafood spot and I love that it’s right down the road from my house
