Connie and Ted's
Enjoy one (or two) of 24 California craft beers on tap, while sampling from our large variety of oysters, clams and shellfish, shucked to order, at our Raw Bar. Wind down the day with a classic cocktail at the bar, or enjoy a warm lobster roll outside on the covered, open-air patio overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard.
What Insiders Are Saying
Take Connie and Ted’s for what it is and you will love it: a fun, casual place to grab a cold beer and some oysters with friends. Just don't listen to the hype and expect much more.
Enjoyed a lovely Easter dinner with some fellow New Englanders and felt very much like home. Thank you!
Great food and hospitality always - Getting real steamers is such a treat here in L.A.
Menu selection was far more limited than I expected (No Salmon) and we were disappointed that the Clam Chowder used Salt Pork as my girl is primarily vegan and could not eat the soup, which was initially why we chose Connie and Ted's (it's not easy to find good Manhattan style clam chowder on the West Coast). It was a little pricey I thought but overall it was a pleasant experience, not sure if we will be back though.
Always a great experience at C&T's. Took a foster kid there for Easter dinner, and he tried mussels for the first time and loved it. Service is attentive and friendly. Food is consistently luscious and fresh. Lively atmosphere, with view of open kitchen.
The food and drinks were delicious. Our server was outstanding. She made great recommendations, answered all of our questions and explained the menu offerings. Everyone who stopped by our table to drop off or pick up was friendly and courteous. We had a lovely Easter Sunday brunch comprised of bloody Mary’s, grapefruit gin cocktail, biscuit, oysters, lobster rolls, black cod, smoked yellow fin, wilted spinach, Mac and cheese, and buttered rolls. Every dish was delicious. The hot buttery lobster rolls were so good we ordered a second round. The smoked yellowfin was amazing...comes with arugula. We had the cod cooked through instead of medium and chose the herbed oil preparation. Light and flavorful! Cocktails were perfectly prepared...yummy fresh ginger infusion. We left very full and very happy!
Best fried clams I've had on the west coast - as good as on Cape Cod.
Always a great meal and service to add to the dining experience
This place was wonderful. lots of choices Very attentive staff, especially our waitress. She was always there when needed without being a bother
My cousin and I ran late for our reservations but the restaurant allowed us to push our reservations back and accommodate us. Sea food is fresh and I enjoyed my fish.
Catch of the day was unspectacular and played presentation felt like a cafeteria. Slow service although the waiter was very knowledgeable. Noise level was off the charts...conversation was difficult.
Overall this place always delivers! We come back often, as well as visit the downtown location. My only complaint is the noise, but given everything that’s so awesome about this place it’s only a minor annoyance.
Our server Brenda was beyond wonderful. It was a joy to watch her go around and see how her tables were doing, and she was very attentive to us and proactive about what our needs were. I can't say enough good things about her.
Seafood done right.
Friendly place, good food, good vibes. Wine overprized. Poor choice of Californian white wine.
I always love the food at Connie and Teds. We had to wait for our table for about 15 minutes and our waitress wasn't very attentive.
Great drinks but the food was hit or miss. The lobster roll was delicious and my husband enjoyed the chowder sampler. Service was decent.
Unpretentious and consistently good. Lovely staff. Daily specials can be great but I usually just pick one of the fresh fishes from their regularly updated board and then pick a few sides. I’m not a big dessert person but they have some amazing and inventive choices. If you are on your own or want and even more chill experience you can sit at the counter.
Constance was great
The bar tender did not want to give me a taste of a whiskey I never heard of , until I asked to see the manager. He gave me a taste and I ordered a glass on the rocks. His attitude was nasty.
Service was great and it's a cute restaurant. The food is not as great as it used to be.
New England boiled dinner very unappetizing and fair. White wine by the glass was not good.
Other dishes unappetizing looking.
Server had no smile, no personality did not promote anything on the menu... we were on expense account with no holds barred... she never got cozy with us or cracked a smile it was like she did not want to be there. We told the hostess. I was being treated and EVERYONE at the table who was paying was surprised I picked C&T as we always go so high end i.e. Catch or Waldorf but I said fish was good...it was...but service was not. The bus boys and helpers were excellent but the actual waitress was cold fish.
Great dinner and restaurant!
Food was stale and cold. We were the last ones to be served before closing. When we paid the bill, I stepped to the restroom and they were rushing us out as they closed.
Only place I can find that you can get Fried Clams, Clam Cakes, and Rhode Island clear chowda outside of New England. They do a great grilled lobster as well. Food was great, service was great. A little noisy at peak times but that adds to the charm. We go everytime we are in LA.
It's somewhere between a great neighborhood spot and a special occasion place for us. We generally get out of there for $60-75 a person with drinks and dessert, and the food is never below excellent. Three kinds of clam chowder, all excellent. Fresh fish prepared simply and perfectly. Lobster rolls are particularly good, and they also have some excellent craft beers on tap. We'll be back for our next "good news" dinner.
Great server in training and his trainer were both very knowledgeable and pleasant.
I love this place. I was a little upset that they would not seat us because 2 of the people in our party were not present and didn't understand why we couldn't at least get started with appetizers and drinks. Other than that, service is always amazing and the food is really fresh.
Service was excellent a little noisy but for sure were going back to this place regularly.
Everything is fresh! The selections are based on that day's deliveries of fresh seafood and the preparations are fairly straightforward to guarantee maximum natural flavors. As a New Englander, the results are authentic. The server was knowledgeable, attentive, pleasant and did not give the impression he was "slumming" until the next casting call -- he took pride in his job!
Excellent fish and chips. Great fish staples. If you like fish you will very much enjoy.
Great meal! The lobster roll was perfect as well as the grilled cod. I loved the fresh fettuccine. We were able to sit outside and they had good heaters to keep the chill off.
Fantastic! The service and ambiance were superb and the food can’t be beat.
Everything was wonderful! Excellent food and service.
Loved the food. Service was excellent - thank you Brenda!! Noise level really bad. So hard to have a conversation. But we will return.
Reliably good seafood in an interesting environment
It's fun to see people of all ages, from older people to young families with babies, enjoying one establishment. (Not quiet, though.) I started with the excellent Manhattan clam chowder, followed by the traditional New England Boiled dinner, which included absolutely out of this world mussels, clams and lobster, as well as little potatoes and corn. Delicious. My husband had a very rich oyster appetizer, with bacon and a sauce, on toast, that he liked, followed by the fried clams and fries - also very good. We were full and skipped dessert.
Their special cocktails always sound great, but I know from experience that they just have too many ingredients and too many competing flavors for me. My husband found his traditional gin martini with olives perfect. Our server was very friendly and gave us helpful information on tastes, portion sizes and the like, which we always appreciate.
I trust they have gotten their heater fixed - we were in a cool spot (which we preferred to being in a warm spot, which we were very kindly offered). They certainly warned us about the heater issue, and handled it as nicely as one could.
Clean, busy, kindly greeted, waited on by 3 different servers, graciously gave me time to decide what to order and afterwards very attentive. 🥰
So disappointed in our experience this time. Waited too long for a table despite having a reservation and being willing to sit in the bar area. We got stuck in a tiny little room with no charm. Steamers were sandy and gritty. Had to send them back. Very disappointing.
Connie and Ted's is a large, sometimes noisy, mid-century modern restaurant with a very casual atmosphere. The menu is seafood focused and although not complicated, everything is perfectly executed. Our table had the grilled squid, a wide variety of oysters, the wilted spinach, the halibut, the Portuguese shellfish/fish stew and onion rings. We loved everything. The wine list was very pricey for the choices so that could be improved. If you have a hard time hearing in noisy rooms, ask to be seated in the glassed in room in the back.
