Delicious food! Besides the steamed mussels (came undercooked) and one of our orders forgotten, the rest of the dishes were delicious and made up for mishaps!

I had my graduation dinner with my family at Cranes and we all had a great time! Although the Omakase menu was secret, we loved everything that was served to us! We were very full and satisfied after. It actually exceeded all our expectations. It was just perfect! Thank you so much for the marvelous dinner. We would love to come back next time. :)

Place is nice. Food was good. But not deserving of the hype and not in the same category as the best of DC. High expectations were not met. But the food was fresh and tasted fine. Just not a “wow” experience.

The tasting menu was so dilated it took over 3 hours with inattentive service. Food was good but not Michelin-good and fairly uneven. Outdoor seating in a loud alley and fairly uncharming.

We had our first experience at Cranes on Mother’s Day. We had quite a few tapas as well as several bigger plates. Every single bite was a delicious surprise! The flavors, textures and presentations were so very fine-tuned, making the Spanish-Japanese fusion a delightfully unique experience. It was a pricey dinner but everyone in our party of five left full and pleased. Worth every penny.

First, let me start by saying the service was excellent. Tarhaka was aware of food allergies in our party and at one point of the meal he came to check on a possible cross contamination issue and we were able to find a safe path forward. Second, this was my second visit, the first having been in February 2020 just 2 weeks before COVID shut down. It was so reassuring that outdoor seating was available and the social distancing was excellent and made for a comfortable Mother's Day meal. Third, the food was amazing. This was my son's first visit and he thought nothing could top the duck rillette gyoza or the jamon Iberico and then he took a bite of the Unagi paella. He said hands down the best first bite of the night. The unagi was cooked perfectly, the greens were incredibly fresh and the paella was excellent. My favorite was the eggplant confit. The roe and the eggplant were an excellent combination and the chips light and crisp for dippers. The chocolate carajillo was my second favorite. The coffee flavor of the ice cream was exquisite and oh so rich. I will put in a plug for the Spanish G&T. The use of elderflower liquer was an excellent touch. We had 6 dishes total and one dessert between the two of us. It was just the right amount of food so the recommendation of 2-3 dishes per person by Ethan, our host, was spot on. I look forward to returning to Cranes soon!

Went to Cranes on Mother’s Day and got the omakase. Our waitress was great, the ambiance was lovely and the omakase was a fair price for the 7/8ish small courses we got. This wasn’t your typical fusion meal where you’re left wondering which part of the meal was fusion. Each cuisine (Spanish and Japanese) was well represented in each course. The ingredients were quiet seasonal which I also enjoyed. The only reason I wouldn’t give the food 5 stars is because it didn’t feel like there was anything particular “exceptional” about the meal given that this restaurant had a Michelin star but still - over all very very good!

We sat outside but their outdoor dining is tables just set up in the street without any ambiance. The inside is very attractive. The food was excellent. We ordered three tapas and one main. Portions are small so not good value. Nice wine list but overpriced. Service was friendly but a bit amateurish.

Did the omakase. Food was good, not amazing. Presentation was the highlight. The service was very inconsistent... our waiter disappeared for about 15 minutes between the desert courses then put the bill on the table as we were still eating our last course...

The food was ok. We are vegetarian and I did add specific notes to my reservation of our dietary restrictions. May be the meat eaters will have better luck. I do have to say that I loved their Zucchini Ensalada. It is a must must try. Our biggest complain was the service. Our waiter was very frustrated with any questions we asked regarding the menu. At one point he said, he'd rather be making what we asked then answering our questions. He was pretty jump, even took off his mask while talking and acted really weird. He said he was frustrated training somebody but it doesn't explain his overall demeanor. It was just odd. He would even answer some of our questions walking away without even looking back. One of the most weirdest dining experience at a restaurant that actually received a Michelin. We weren't sure how they could even secure a Michelin with such service. As I mentioned earlier, food is hit or miss. We tried a combination of omakase and tapas. Some dishes were really good & some dishes were lacking basic salt. I would definitely order the Zucchini Ensalada for to-go again but I am not sure if we will ever dine their again. :(

Tempura was so light and fluffy, best I've had in a long time! zucchini salad very inventive and delicious. Small tapas size plates are, in my opinion, never good value for money as I always end up ordering two plates, going home hungry, while paying a high price. But tapas are all the rage and this is a great new restaurant for inventive and very tasty tapas.

This place is awesome! It opened shortly before Covid and we kept going to it - sitting outside or ordering take away - because the food and staff are great! They do a wonderful job of creating interesting, flavorful dishes that are very reasonably priced. The staff is very knowledgeable about the food and very nice. The ambiance is cool and fits different needs - it has a great bar/lounge area, cozy front and far back seating for quieter conversation and large middle area for more lively groups.

We loved the food, its creativity, the ingredients and also our eyes were happy :) I had the vegetarian omakase and was super happy, they also had ramps :) Lovely dinner, highly recommended! The only so-so note..the service. It was a bit slow and the waiters were a bit distracted (the brought the wine after we had started) and some of them did not know the ingredients of the dishes we were presented with (fair to say that the ingredients are many and not the usual ones!). Other than that, we would certainly come back!
