   The service was fairly swift and prompt, although there were very few other diners at the time; the food was good and enjoyed by all the party. I was disappointed to be told that parmesan cheese with the pasta dish would be at extra cost, and also that the staff failed to draw our attention to the discount offer for hotel residents. These issues were advised to the hotel management.

   We booked a table for eight on a Sunday lunch promotion on 27th November. We were greeted by have you booked......we were the only customers in the whole restaurant. We waited while the table was set for our party, we noted that during our visit that there were no additional diners in the restaurant. The food portions were small and not good value, we are locals and we do like to support local businesses we also like to eat out often.

   Noise levels were high even though there were not many people in the restaurant. Service was slow. We ordered food and drink at the same time and food arrived before the drinks. We had to ask several times for a jug of water. Their AL10 club discount is misleading. It says £10 welcome voucher, 10% discount on meals. No mention that you get the £10 voucher on your first visit and the 10% on meals on subsequent visits.

   We stayed at the Comet Hotel so it was very convenient to eat there. We also invited my son and his wife to join us. We had a great evening and the good was well prepared and good value. For a quick meal and nice quiet chat, this place is ideal. We would eat here again.

   The place is a gem at my door step. Not sure why it was not thronged for Sunday lunch, but better for us, as we had a very lovely quiet time. We ordered Sunday Roast veg option and was very good, and value for money. Only one little minor point - no veg gravy and hence not given five stars.

    Quick and attentive service in a lovely refurbished 1930s Art Deco hotel. Classic gastro-pub menu with plenty of options. We particularly enjoyed our steaks, which were well-cooked and nicely presented.

    We had gone on Father’s Day to surprise my Dad. He loves eating here and we thought it would be a nice meal out. We had outstanding food, cooked quickly and was so tasty. Our servers were to attentive to us and it made the experience great. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back again!

    Food was mostly really good, although the chicken was tough for both of our group who ordered it. Don't go there if you're in a rush - we got our food 55 minutes after walking in the door.

    We came as a group of 5 for dinner last night. The staff were very friendly and quick to take our order. 3 of us chose from the Christmas menu …2 chose from the normal menu both value for money. The presentation of the food was very good and the food did not disappoint, it was absolutely delicious. The salt and pepper squid (starters) was the best I’ve ever had! Ham hock terrine was delicious too. The only criticism I have is the lighting could of been dimmer to give it a bit more of a cosier atmosphere. I will definitely be coming again!!!

    Disappointed there was no diet drinks on offer being a type one diabetic although the staff were great and went out to try and find one for me.

    We had a very enjoyable evening. The chips were slightly undercooked but everything else was lovely. We live close by and would come more often if the cost was more reasonable. I understand they are hotel prices but as local residents we don’t need to be paying inflated prices. Perhaps a 10% discount for AL10 members all the time would help fill some more tables.

    An enjoyable experience but the lack of a childrens menue means that we wont probably come again as a family. A bit too expensive to have to buy adult meals for two children.
