What Insiders Are Saying
Surprises are great, and so is The Duck Inn.
Give Kevin, the bar magician a raise! Great service, great cocktails, great guy. Made a pleasant evening with the wife memorable.
Food was great and I really appreciated how attentive they were to dietary restrictions.
Duck Inn is a special spot with some incredible food and drinks. The restaurant is an unassuming small building on the corner of a small street but the experience inside is nothing short of spectacular.
Everything we had starting with the appetizers and ending with desert was incredible and unique. The duck wings were exceptional and the rotisserie duck was phenomenal. Duck Inn really earned it's name. However the steak, octopus and tuna were just as impressive. The cocktails served were tastey, well crafted, and unique, including a whiskey drink served in a smoke filled glass and even a warm bone broth based whiskey drink.
The prices were more than fair for the quality of food and drinks.
Our waiter Jay was also attentive, friendly, and knew the menu well.
Without a doubt one of the best meals I've had in Chicago. Check it out and you will not be disappointed.
Every dish was amazing, along with our “mock tails”.
We always have a nice time at the Duck Inn. Food and service are great.
The food was great, we tried a variety of the brunch items and enjoyed them all. The service was attentive and friendly. The back room was comfortable, it would have been much chillier closer to the front door. Liked the eclectic retro decor. Will definitely go back.
We were visiting Chicago and stumbled across Duck Inn on OpenTable. Were we lucky. Cool place with a fun vibe. Food was good. Had the whole duck, cooked spot on. Foie gras as nummy and my companions had the hot dog - which they loved. Fun night and good food at Duck Inn.
Had the hunan whole duck which was delicious. The new style foi gras was ok. Preferred previous preparation. The wine selection for bottles was limited and very over priced. The glass we ordered was fantastic, but did not have bottle option. Overall. Great place.
The meal started out on a really sour note. Some of us wanted to eat from the restaurant week menu, some did not. We were told that the WHOLE table needed to use the same menu in order to participate. I have never encountered this "rule" before, and it was not the case at either Chicago restaurant I went to earlier that week. Then we saw the wine prices. Wine per glass cost more than a hotel in downtown Manhattan charges (which is a lot). So we decided to just order something to eat, and get it over with. The service was friendly, but slow. The food was ok, but we realized once we ate, the food was not really worth the prices on the menu. I have heard great things, and they have been in business a while, so they're obviously doing something right!
random neighborhood, excellent service and food. Jay was wonderful - when they forgot my husband's drink, he comped it. And life is incomplete without that hot dog with the "supercondiment" - even though we added it to an already lardy restaurant week menu!!!!!
So yummy, those duck wings!!!!
Went for the 2019 restaurant week menu!! Every dish is so good! Very stellar
Everything was wonderful. I definitely would go back. All of the staff was wonderful.
Very unique food - delicious! Restaurant Week menu is awesome!
Everything was amazing! The food, service, and ambiance were spot on. We will definitely go back!
Food was salty or bland
My first visit to Duck Inn, meant to go for several years. Delicious brunch, interesting cocktails. Highly recommend the Duck Hash. Creative menu with interesting combinations. Will go back!!
Great food with even better cocktails. Definitely will be returning to try other food menu items.
The food was great. The service was absolutely amazing. It is a nice, upscale restaurant without the stuffy atmosphere.
We live in the neighborhood, but I recommend Duck Inn to anyone looking for an amazing night out. The signature cocktail list is amazing and the service is top notch. We went all out with the tasting menu for a rare night out and it was an absolute delight. The craftsmanship of the food, drinks, decor, everything is worth the trip.
We had a great dinner at the Duck Inn. Food and service were both outstanding and everyone enjoyed their meal. We wish there had been more orders of duck wings available, they were delicious!
Drinks were really good! Excellent service! Food was way too salty!!! Pretty presentations, but the tasty was mediocre. I don’t think I would go back.
Sat at the bar on a Saturday night, drinks were creative, one had bone stock, And other elixirs, fresh herbs and came in a soup bowl, was delicious. Octopus with mole was very flavorful, would go back for that alone. Burrata was also very fresh and tasty, could maybe have a few more toast points. Brussel sprouts were plentiful and i liked the way they were prepared, heavy in butter but both delicious as well. Duck wings were tender and priced right. Would go back!
Good food, good service, nice people, compelling story, fantasy location, easy free parking—all of which is tragically compromised by incessant, intolerable noise, which lowers the rating from 5 stars to 3 (and that is a gift). If noise-dampening tiles are installed in the ceiling, I’ll bet back, but not until then.
Great overall dinner experience. Our group of 4 ordered 5 appetizers, 2 entrees, 4 desserts, and the roasted duck to share. Every dish was incredible with the exception of the panna cotta dessert. All the drinks we had were unique and tasted great (they were a tad pricey). Our server was exceptional and it helped that all the staff paid attention to every table to make sure dishes were cleared, water was full, etc. I would highly recommend the Duck Inn!!
Great service and delicious dinner from first to last course. Vibrant and interesting.
A true hidden neighborhood gem.
Wonderful food & terrific service.
Deep wine & cocktail list.
Make sure to order the cheese curds & preorder a duck.
Both are fantastic !
Enjoyed the Hot Dog Water beer. Duck was fantastic.
A great way to spend an afternoon enjoying creative cocktails and two delicious brunch dishes.
I really like the Duck Inn. I have been there for dinners and have never been disappointed. The rotisserie duck for two is great. I have also been there several times for brunch and it is really good for this, with good food and pleasant atmosphere. I just noted that they are open with food until 11:00 during the week and later on weekends, so I am going to try it after the theater.
Delicious as usual. duck wings cooked just right, fantastic cocktails, hard to choose entre, all sound so good.
Outstanding as usual. Our waiter J. was just lovely (and all the other staff too!)
We had a big party for Christmas. Shared plates went around and then entrees. A few had the wonderful duck but myself and other had the giant ribeye they were offering, outstanding. Our 8pm reservation led us to closing the bar. Great night
Dinner was spectacular. We enjoyed Duck everything! Ambiance was great and food was delicious. Our server was very nice but was a bit much. Too loud at times, but overall did a great job.
Will definitely be back!
We really enjoyed our time at Duck Inn we were a table of 6 and shared 3 appetizers and 5 entrees and everything was great. The one thing that left a bad taste in our mouth was the offer of truffles grated on the mushroom pasta, it was a casual offer, like would you like parmesan cheese on that...so we all agreed . Then we got the bill and the grating of truffles was $35.00, more expensive that most of our entrees. So in the end even though we had a great time we left feeling a little ripped off.
Today's brunch consisted of myself and 2 of my favorite women..... My mother and my godmother. Everything was absolutely delicious. From the cocktails that Kevin made (ask for Lorenzo's Manhattan!!).... To the beautiful smiling faces as you walk in... To the impeccable service.... The phenomenal wine list..... Not to mention the food. If you haven't been here... What are you waiting for?! I highly recommend it.
We love the Duck Inn. Every dish is perfectly prepared, well-seasoned, and creative. This time, the bar service was disappointing, apparently understaffed; our drink refills were so slow as to be too late to drink with our meal. Being the holiday season, there were two big groups which became increasingly noisy. We had to close out abruptly. The bar space is quieter, a better choice on a busy night.
The Duck Inn has been a personal favorite since Chef Hickey opened and it remains so for the strong, creative drink, the sensational service and the incredible rotisserie duck dinner -- the breasts done to perfect medium rare, the salad ok, and the duck fat potatoes fantastic. The hard surfaces make conversation difficult but the warmth of the staff and the room compensate. For ocnversation and a whole different vibe, the outdoor patio in Summer/Fall is great.
Even after fighting traffic for 1-1/2 hours to get there, The Duck Inn is special each and every time.
Great neighborhood restaurant, been here four times , liked it every tim
