We are a group of ex-work colleagues who stay in Deal each year and have eaten at The Royal Hotel each time. The ambience is good and the food is lovely, and we all really liked the menu with plenty of choice. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the evening was a great end to an enjoyable holiday. Here's to 2027....

We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and this was the highlight of the day. The food is always very good and it remains at a very high quality. However, I would like to acknowledge the staff who were polite and very helpful. I would particularly like to thank the young lady who served us that evening 11th May 2026 (I’m sorry, I didn’t ask her name but if there’s a way to pass on our thanks please do). The dish at the end of the meal with chocolates and Happy Birthday piped in chocolate was a lovely touch. Highly recommended

Visited Deal for a couple of days in May-26. Dunkerley's was our first night restaurant (with a 1 year old). Chatted with a lovely older couple which was nice, a large ladies night group made things a bit more lively. I tried the lobster thermidor, a lot easier than trying to deshell it, but I think not really worth it against the other fish on the menu, no reflection on the restaurant but lobster is just very expensive against a good sea bass etc. A little bit of a challenge for the staff for sorting the baby chair etc (we'd advised in advance). Liked the other restaurant goers - a bit smarter than other places (so I should have brought my jacket). My partner had seafood Linguine - again a very good review (4/5) for that.

5 of us lunched I the dining room. As we were the only people present the atmosphere was obviously quiet. Service was attentive as always & we all enjoyed our food. The fish dishes served were excellent with specially mention of the fish curry. Dunkerleys is a fabulous restaurant especially if you like fish. Mr Dunkerley made a guest appearance to check we were all ok. Deal is lucky ti have several nice restaurants. This is one of them. Equally eating in the bar area always results in good food.

Had a lovely meal yesterday at Dunkerleys. It was nice to go into a proper Restaurant with cloth napkins. Food was outstanding, staff were very nice. Ian Dunkerley came out to see how the meal was. Found the whole experience wonderful. Would definitely recommend.

We had a very pleasant birthday celebration lunch. I particularly enjoyed the Dover Sole followed by the Chef’s Pavlova! We would definitely go back so recommend it especially if you enjoy fish dishes.

Excellent service, the waitresses were on top of everything, food was excellent too (apart from the canapes). Was cold in the restaurant despite asking for temperature to be warmer
