What Insiders Are Saying
El Che Bar is a cool and trendy Argentinian restaurant in the West Loop.
Great! Food is always solid and continues to be the best sleeper restaurant in the hood
Food was mediocre. Service was painfully slow and inattentive.
Great ambience, even better food – creative and delicious. Staff was also very friendly and service oriented.
Best steak house in Chicago, unbelievable value, a real hidden gem.
Good food and good service however the happy hour only at the bar is very misleading. Happy hour should be available at tables too.
Great experience and even more amazing food. Highly recommend!!
Awesome place, phenomenal food
Nice ambiance and not very loud where you could carry on a conversation without having to shout. Service was pretty slow, where the table next to us that was seated after us was getting their food before us. The food was tasty, and perfect portion size for sharing which allowed us to try different things. Overall the oysters were our favorite.
Amazing food! Amazing service!
El Che is good for all categories -everyday dining, a date or a special occasion. The food is unique and delicious! Both meat and fish are done perfectly and the salads and starters are remarkably good!! It is of interest to view the roaring indoor grill area! The entire restaurant from appetizers to yummy food and decor shouldn’t be missed in Chicago!
El Che is good for any occasion! Fantastic -food
Absolutely wonderful experience! The empanadas and steaks are not to be missed!
Great experience! The staff is very accommodating to vegans!
We're huge fans of John Manion's food and El Che Bar did not disappoint. Great steaks. Vegetable dishes that were absolutely killer. Plus a really great atmosphere.
It's very far from an argentine food, the barbecue was not good at all and the empanadas with cheese over never in Argentina are this way. Very expensive, and the beef was not good.
Always great food and experience
The entire staff here is incredible from the Chef on down. Exceptional service, outstanding food, the epitome of hospitality and ambiance in the West Loop.
Great food and good service. Not too loud so we were able to hold a conversation at a normal level.
Drinks are outstanding! Food was good, just not great.
Amazing food! Super creative and we loved everything!
El Che Steakhouse and Bar has a wonderful food and beverage program. This is a cutting-edge restaurant!
Great as always!
We brought out of town guest here who were unaccustomed to this level of food. They ended up being pretty demanding of the weight staff despite dishes that were cooked perfectly. I felt super bad the whole time but the wait staff never made us feel anything other than welcome. I regret to say that we were a horror of a table that evening, but this really provides an opportunity for the service to shine. My wife and I LOVED the food and everything else. I would 100% go back again and recommend anyone check it out.
Very chic modern Argentinian food. Delicious and cleanly prepared. It certainly isn't a rustic gaucho, simple empanada y carne place but the food is tremendous, as if a classic Buenos Aires kitchen had contemporary American style and effective capitalism behind it.
We wanted to try El Che for some time. We enjoyed a wonderful Malbec blend for wine. Then, we tried the beef empanadas, the arugula salad, El Che steak and filet. Everything was delicious and we will certainly be back!
The food was great and so was our service! We will be back!
Holy sh*t. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had.
Wine by the glass is expensive especially with lackluster pours! Food was okay but also very small amounts for the price! Our waitress came by and actually asked if we were going to order more food! This was after we ordered a glass of wine and an appetizer and had only been seated about 20 minutes. I think they're taking advantage of being in the West Loop where it presumed that everyone just bought a $1 million condo. Won't be returning.
El Che combines good food and fun. Unique open flame cooking visible thru out a comfortable dining area. Energetic and pleasant wait staff.
Food and service was excellent!
Delicious, incredibly reasonable happy hour and the paradilla was heavenly.
The steak was cold For the price does not come with nothing I left there more hungry
Great experience. Well proportioned food and exceptional service.
Started with the empanadas which were great -- the beef being the standout. The jus served with the filet would be amazing on just about anything. Also, drinking half off wine is a great way to spend a Monday in a really beautiful atmosphere. Service could have been better.
We were warmly received and served a very delicious meal, will definitely go back.
El Che was such a special experience. The staff made sure our anniversary celebration was memorable. I highly recommend for a special occasion or date night. The food is incredible, the wine/beer selection is fabulous, and the staff is so smart, knowledgeable and friendly.
Anniversary! Brought us champagne! Excellent food and service!
The Parrillada was COLD!
Everything we ordered was delicious and we cleared our plates! We had the three empanadas, my favorite was the kale and gruyere, so good we ordered a second one. The steak was perfectly cooked, all the sides were delicious. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back
Love everything about Che: Cocktails! Gnocchi! Empanadas! Perfectly grilled meat! Chimichurri! Oh, and our server was a delight. Can’t wait to return.
