Friendly service, memorable cocktails and delicious food! Presentation was outstanding. Will definitely be back!
I highly recommend. The scenery was beautiful and this restaurant takes all precautions to make your experience enjoyable and safe.
Ate outdoors - very pleasant. Staff was very accommodating.
Forge and Vine was wonderful, as usual. Great food, great service, and beautiful view!
Waitress was great, food was wonderful and view was amazing!
Felt safe, great waitress and food - such a pretty setting
We shared a salad, several appetizers and bottle of wine. The food was very good.
The waitstaff was very attentive and pleasant.
good food and drinks! Wish there were more menu items in the $15-20 range but otherwise can't complain!
The outside setup was spectacular. The F&V really did a fantastic job. I hope they keep it going!! The food, service(Tricia) was best Ive had in a very long time. We all enjoyed our experience! AND. The million dollar view. We didnt want to leave!!
One of our favorite restaurants in Massachusettes, the food, ambiance and staff excell! We always have a fun, satisfying and full evening. Its a must...
Given the Covid-19 limitations, the dinner outside was very nice. The view was beautiful! The food and service were excellent. We were lucky to have a gorgeous night weatherwise.
Our experience here was nothing short of incredible. The views here are breathtaking no matter where you’re seated and the service here is first class. Each course for dinner got better and better and we finished with the peach and blueberry crumble which was delicious. Looking forward to visiting here regularly!
Dinner at the Forge & Vine was the first time my girlfriend and I went out since the Pandemic, and it was great! Ever so worth the wait! And Heather was OUTSTANDING! She's a keeper :)
Awesome. Love this place!
This was the second night of Forge & VIne's re-opening for outdoor dining. They have done an excellent job of setting up their tables. Felt perfectly safe. Lovely ambience overlooking the hills and cows. And, the food remains top-notch.
Our server, Joe had a pleasing personality and attentive, giving us time to enjoy the experience and providing our food and drinks in a timely manner so that we were not rushed or kept waiting between courses. The food was very good, the cheese burger cooked exactly as ordered and the fries were hot and crisp. The salmon was nicely seasoned and the fingerling potatoes and green beans complimented the dish perfectly.
The staff followed all the correct procedures to ensure our safety and comfort throughout the meal.
I would definitely return and recommend, Forge and Vine to friends and family.
Very nice time. It was nice to be back. Josie did a great job as usual and the set up was very nice especially given the health protocols. See you soon.
While it was raining and cool the food was excellent as usual and we were able to spend time together with both kids .. we have not seen our son since the pandemic hit in March. Our daughter moved home from London in March so we get to see her daily. We love Forge and Vine and the view and food did not disappoint. We will be doing curbside pick up occasionally and hope to come back for outdoor dining before the cold weather comes.
Forge and Vine its quite simply the best restaurant in Groton...GREAT food wine and service...
Great food and service. Heather was excellent and extremely friendly
The accommodations to outdoor seating due to COVid-19 are miraculous! The tables are well-spaced and the seating is comfortable. The view, pots of flowers, and ambience are spectacular, especially due to the fact that it is under a tent. We enjoyed a much-missed, great meal out.
Strong return by the restaurant in the time of a pandemic. Superb service as always. They did a great job with the environment of outdoor tented dining. Spectacular views never hurt either. The meal:
VINE RIPE TOMATO BRUSCHETTA, heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, grilled sourdough - outstanding soft bread and great grilled flavor
CRISPY JONAH CRAB CAKES, cucumber, tomato, avocado, remoulade - admittedly this fell flat, very over salted
LOBSTER CHOWDER, Maine lobster, sweet corn,
smoked bacon - excellent with small bits of lobster in every bite
Great cocktails too...look forward to returning!
Had an early dinner at the re-opened Forge and Vine, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by a friendly staff outside the restaurant and escorted to a table under a large tent in the parking lot extension. Each table was located on a mat, and a good distance from adjacent tables. Between the table locations, the outdoor setting, and the staff adherence to mask and cleanliness, we felt no concern with the virus.
The dinners were very good, as usual, and there was no loss of freshness in bringing them to the outdoor setting. And that setting was peaceful, looking over the valley to the hills beyond.
The service was exceptional, with great care provided by our server, Samantha.
Forge & Vine never disappoints! Had our 1st dining out experience when it reopened on Wednesday and enjoyed every minute. They acomadated 6 of us safely and the menu had something for everyone. Best raw bar in the area too!
Staff were very polite, tended to any and all needs. Felt they all did a great job with social distance dining. Food was great! Looking forward to going back!
Went on "opening night". It was as wonderful as ever, and loved being outdoors under the tent! All the staff had masks, without exception. Much appreciated! We had the half rotisserie chicken and the cheeseburger, both of which were delicious! The greens that came with the chicken were quite tasty. The blueberry peach crumble was also yummy! Looking forward to our next visit!
So happy to have our favorite restaurant back in action! Felt safe, comfy and well taken care of!
Food and service were outstanding and the view from the outdoor seating was lovely!
GREAT STAFF, SERVICE AND CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT FOOD. ❤️
We were seated in a small room to left of bar when entering. Location was great as I think contributed to a rather comfortable and quiet atmosphere. Food was tremendous and the staff extremely competent and friendly. Without a doubt, will continue enjoying ourselves there in the future.
Had a nice evening out. The food was very good and the drinks were great.
Raw bar & wine were excellent, as was the service.
Main course was appealing but could be improved. The vegetable accompaniment of mushroom and greens was outstanding. The half chicken of dark and white meat portions was presented extremely well and the dark meat was done to "falling off the bone perfection"--my favorite part of chicken, seasoned extremely well, moist and delicious! However, the chicken breast was overcooked, dry and stringy almost to the point of inedible, which was shocking compared to the rest of the experience.
I assume the two portions were cooked together but served in overlaying portions. Consider treating the breast to separately in order to retain a moister final result, as the recipe was excellent but the execution could have benefitted from a slower/lower cooking treatment.
Observation: Staff seemed to be friendly and conversant with each other, rather than engaged in the tasks of providing an above average experience to the diners. The open atmosphere of the facility may be conducive to the social interaction of the staff while not being intrusive to the customers, acceptable if the service provided is perfect but could turn negative if something is amiss at the diner's table. Thankfully our service was above average. You do see, and hear, the detail workings of front and back operations, replicating what occurs when we host large family gatherings.
Overall, an enjoyable evening.
The highlight of Forge and Vine is the view out the large windows of Gibbet Hill. It was still daylight so we had a beautiful view and when the full moon came up, it was breathtaking. The food and service were very good and very efficient.
We love Forge been there several times. We hosted another couple for their first time there - excellent food, great service and quiet enough (8:00 on a Sunday) to have a conversation. We'll be back!
Meals were great, loved the upfront clarity of "we are happy to make substitutions, whatever you like to make your dining experience happy". No one does that. Opted for cauliflower and brussels with my salmon. All was delicious. Lauren our server was fantastic. Atmosphere really nice. Somewhere in the shuffle they forgot the salad we ordered but it wasn't a big deal. Nice wine list.
Daughter home from college and had a fabulous meal! Forge and Vine never disappoints!
My wife and I stopped in to Forge and Vine on a lovely Spring Sunday after a walk around the town of Groton. We made a reservation for 4.30 PM but need not have. The place filled up by the time we were leaving so I would recommend a reservation from 6 PM on.
We were seated against a low wall which separates the dining area from the kitchen with a nice view of Gibbet Hill out the window to one side, and the cooks at work over a raging oak fire in the kitchen on the other.
We had the cooked oysters and garden salad respectively for starters. Both were excellent.
For our main course we shared a Charcuterie Board of exotic meats. My requests for additional toast and to add one cheese were accommodated without a fuss.
The craft beer selection was not huge but adequately stocked with excellent beers. The wine selection is extensive. We tasted several varieties of white wine before my wife settled on one.
The desert was delicious - homemade pastry with chocolate hazelnut cream inside?
We were seated in a room that seems to be used as a screened-in porch during warmer weather. Though there were plastic windows up, a fire, and heating lamps, I was freezing. Unfortunately we were seated as far as possible from the fire and the heating lamps weren’t giving off much heat. I had to wear my coat during dinner! What a shame, because everything else was great. Note: I did say something to the waitress about the temperature and she said she’d turn up the heat lamp, but I honestly couldn’t tell the difference.
I took my wife out for her birthday and it was our first experience at Forge & Vine. We were impressed from start to finish. The interior and vibe was very cool and clean and the food was out of this world. We ordered a variety of different things and everything was delicious. I have never had a mushroom risotto that tasted so rich and creamy it was to die for! Excellent wine list and service -- we will surely be back!!
Our first visit to Forge and Vine, but will not be our last. Food and service were outstanding. Great evening and a super dining experience.
