what a disorganized restaurant! We made a reservation but still needed to wait for 30 minutes before we could get a table. One of us ordered “medium” prime rib. But when it arrived, it was cold and too rare to be called “medium.” We then asked for a new piece of prime rib. But the replacement was even redder, rarer than the first one! We then asked for turkey instead. The waiter gave us a facial expression as if channeling that we were too picky. But a woman who sat next to us also found her rib not properly cooked. Later, the manager came and told us that they have no more turkey. We ended up giving prime rib another try. Fortunately, it was cooked right this time. But the ordeal does not end here. When it was time to order desserts, we were disappointed that only 4 choices left. They also ran out of ice cream that goes with pies. When we saw the bill, the recovery charge was added. Neither manager or the waiter offered us anything except saying “sorry.” We left feeling that our celebration was ruined by the restaurant. Recovery charges are full of joke and unnecessary to dime and nickel customers especially high prices to pay for the meals. We were overcharged for drinks than what stated in the menu by few dollars extra and the strength of alcohol is so weak.

Founding Farmers - DCResponded 1 day agoThank you for your review. I am terribly sorry for the extended wait to be sat and that the herbed crusted prime rib was not prepared at the correct temperature. It should not have taken us that many times to prepare it correctly. We appreciate you making us aware of these situations and for your patience throughout this ordeal. We hope to have the opportunity to give you and your family a better dining experience in the future. Thank you. -Najjah

We were sat 1hr after our reservation. By the time the food came they were out of what I ordered and the food was warm, not hot. In addition, although I made the establishment aware of our daughter’s nut allergy, food was still delivered that contained nuts. For the cost, I would not recommend.

We ate here for thanksgiving dinner. It was a set menu with lots of options. Large amount of food. Good drinks. Service was not on point, starting plate came out before breads or drinks. No spoons were given with the soups. We waited about 10 min for spoons to arrive. Overall though I would definitely recommend this place for dining good for families with children. Maybe service was off due to the holiday and busyness.

The worst experience in DC. What’s the point of making a reservation if we still had to wait 20-30mins to be seated. We saw the waitress 2 times total. When it was time to eat we still had bread and first course plates in the table. Still waiting for a second round of drinks. This place is a 100% overrated and not worth the hype.

I went for a Thanksgiving dinner. I was disappointed. The turkey was dry and tough, the vegetables were bland, and they ran out of my first choices of dessert.

Usually great but not so good for Thanksgiving. Waited 40 minutes for a reserved seat, 50 percent of desserts were out, limited choice for vegan meals. Love Tyson and Reston locations, this one too cramped.

My daughter and I made a reservation on 10/17/22 for Thanksgiving Day dinner. We still had to wait about 30-40 minutes for a table. The bartender and drinks were very helpful during the wait. We were seated upstairs. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive throughout dinner. Both of us ordered the prime rib which was tender and juicy. The butternut squash soup was light and creamy. My daughter ordered the salad. The meal came with various breads and spreads, pickled vegetables, sage cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, and delicious cranberry sauce. The meal was definitely worth the wait and price. My only complaint is that I thought the tables were too close together.

I was in town for thanksgiving visiting my significant other and neither of us have family in the area so we decided to try to find a restaurant that was open. After a brief search I found “Founding Farmers” offering a three course meal for $45 per person. Normally I am concerned about portion sizes for these types of meals but we decided to book it and try. Truthfully I was stuffed, as one should expect on thanksgiving and I even had leftovers for dinner. The food was great, my prime rib may have been more medium than medium rare but I’m not the type to complain about that especially considering how busy they were. My one complaint other than the prime rib would be my New York whiskey sour, although they got the float right, there was no egg white mixed in so it wasn’t really ‘frothy’… but that may just be how they make it at this bar… so again I drink it and enjoy. All in all I’m incredibly thankful to have found this place, the price was a fair price point, and even though the food was amazing I think my favorite part was our service. I wish I got her name but she checked on us regularly and would let us know when to expect our next course. They even have coffee and chocolate you can buy on site, which of course we did, however I’m not a huge chocolate aficionado so I will leave that out of my review.

Not a good experience. Food was good. Kids didn't have a separate menu so they barely ate. Dessert was a disappointment. Kids wanted chocolate cream pie and they were out of all cream pies. No key lime pie either. We had a 2:30pm reservation so I don't know what the later people had for dessert. Manager came over and offered nothing. Server was ok. He didn't seem interested since we weren't drinking alcohol. We won't be back. Very disappointed.

We went to FF for Thanksgiving. The experience started out rough. My wine wasn’t brought out with other drinks from the bar and then after we asked about it, it still took quite awhile. Our soups and salads came out before our bread and some of us were finished by the time it got there. Even though these incidences occurred, our waitress was awesome and friendly. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. Overall, very good.

Made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner for myself and 4 family members. The menu was great. I'm not a fan of turkey so ordered one of the two fish options. I fact, only two of us had turkey. There was so much food that only my husband could eat everything on his plate. The sides were all delicious, as were the salad and soup appetizers. Our server was wonderful. We brought the desserts home. Fixed price was more than reasonable given both the quality and amount of food. I'd eat there every day if I could!

We were welcomed to restaurant with joy and smiles. Our table was nicely located and the customers around us were welcoming and happy. The server was very pleasant and checked with us frequently. She anticipated a lot of our questions. Loved the pickled vegetables and bread on a board. The server was very nice. The choices of protein ranged from traditional ham and turkey to grilled rockfish and prime rib. Really hard to choose but we did. Delicious and came quickly. The sides were preset choices and were very tasty-- they were warm but not hot. It was fine. Great deserts and smiling faces on both sides as we left -- We were very pleased. Quick lunch meet up with my friend. She loves Farmers & Distillers, so knew the food would be good. My 5th time, and my friends first. We visited on a Monday evening as a party of four. Service was brisk, and we all thought our meals were excellent. Two had pasta, one had chicken, and a fourth had meatloaf. Meals are moderately priced, as are appetizers. Desserts are more aggressively priced and decent, but nothing special. Two of us had the homemade ice cream and thought it wasn’t that good. In any event, we enjoyed our meals, the restaurant was is well-located and pricing affordable enough for most items. We plan to go back soon.

Our waitress, Kate, was outstanding. Everything about her was great - friendly, sweet, answered all our questions, asked us questions about our likes and dislikes, and smiled the whole time we were there. She’s a real keeper. The food was very good. Neither my husband nor I were disappointed. My only disappointment is the vodka. I understand that it is Founding Farmers brand but it’s not very good. To me it tasted like “cheap” vodka. The beignets were amazing. Just way too many. However, I would not have ordered them if I knew they were that big. If you’re giving one person 6 beignets, they should be half the size. O really we truly liked Founding Farmers. I think Kate had a lot to do with that.
