This was my second time and it was fabulous. I highly recommend trying it if you haven't. It's worth every penny and the service is wonderful.
Always a wonderful meal, from beginning to end...
Fantastic food, really knowledagble, well-trained staff provided perfect recommendations! My new favorite restaurant in Philly!
Meal was enjoyable, service could use a little work.
Flavor combinations are always incredible!!
Delicious food and great service! I would highly recommend this place. We had the mussel toast, gnocchis, sea bass, and Brussels sprouts, and everything was a 10/10!
It's terrific. Will go again when I am next in Philly
Great service. Bartender Sasha was superb. Everything was very good, with one exception. My sea bass was far too salty.
Each of the plates of food brought over to our table fought spiritedly to be our favorite of the night. Truly exceptional and interesting work being done in the kitchen. We were thinking about our return trip while we were still eating.
Our food was Excellent as usual.....and our service was phenomenal....Love Friday Saturday Sunday - would recommend over and over. thank you
Food was very good and the service was outstanding. Very cute looking place. Sever had great recommendations. Mussel toast is a must. Octopus dish had good flavor but some pieces were chewy. Sweetbread katsu and charred cauliflower were very flavorful. It could be too flavorful for some people looking for a more balanced taste. The smoked herring spaghetti was great if you like seafood tasting pasta. We had the apricot upside down cake for dessert which was excellent. I would definitely come back and try other items here if I lived in Philly. Worth a visit!
Food was perfection! Our waiter and servers were excellent!
the only qualifier is that there is a steep staircase, which made it difficult for one of our party to get up and down for dinner. maybe an elevator?
We tried FSS for the first time in Friday evening. We arrived a half hour early for our reservation and decided to have a cocktail at the bar before dinner. Luckily, two seats were open at the bar. We had two delicious drinks and then headed upstairs for dinner. Everything from the kitchen was perfectly prepared and delicious. We had oysters with a neat Meyer lemon granita, the octopus with pork broth and Rancho Gordo beans, the NY strip which was perfectly done rare plus and the striped bass. All delicious. An interesting wine list rounded out the dining experience. Looking forward to a return visit.
Limited menu but excellent meal. Space is very limited so reserve early. Be persistent if you call as it's hard to get an answer.
Our server was creative and responsive and the bar staff were very knowledgeable if their wine selection
My favorite restaurant in Phila, consistently delivering exceptional food, warm service, great cocktails and an overall terrific dining experience. Can't get enough of Fri-Sat-Sun.
Just stopped in for a quick bite and the food and service were phenomenal. Crispy cauliflower and octopus would def order again
My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday night to celebrate my birthday. We ordered two cocktails, one small plate to share (chicken liver mousse), and steak and lobster. Desserts were brownie and ice box (they were both excellent). Except for the chicken liver mousse (which we both felt didn't taste the freshest), the food overall was great. We especially liked the steak and was wondering if it was sous-vide apart from the crispy sear on the outside. Interesting vegetable and sauce choice for the lobster. Quite generous portions as well. We really appreciated that the food wasn't too salty or overly seasoned, everything tasted exquisitely well-balanced with multiple flavors.
And also, wonderful cocktails! Our favourite was my "smile and nod", super refreshing, and his 43 million baby was very smooth too.
The only thing we had issue with was another table of guests behind us in the corner (right above the gate on the first floor), of which the lady (not sure if she was drunk) was extremely loud the entire time.
Thanks for the great meal! We will surely be back.
We shared the duck meal and it was wonderful. Would definitely go back!
It was my wife’s birthday. The dishes we order were all very good and tasty. The specialty drinks were awesome. I usually order just one but not this time. The table was great. Even threw in a birthday scoop of ice cream. Been here before and will continue to go. Very good place
I was excited to have a chance to see what Fri/Sat/Sun was all about. The restaurant is small and therefore can focus on quality over quantity and without large tables, the noise level is comfortable for everyone. The service was welcoming and our server Alexander was attentive and spent time making sure we understood the menu options. As a table of 4, we ordered multiple plates so that everyone had a chance to try the creative and delicious dishes. The portions are adequate, because the preparation of the food was very sophisticated and beautifully balanced. It is always fresh when they use local seasonal produce too. It was a great evening for admiring the kitchen's artistry.
Front of the house was disorganized and not attentive to who arrived first.
We made an early dinner reservations and we’re one of the first ones in. It’s in a historic neighborhood, nicely decorated without being over the top. Most of the tables are on the 2nd floor, one flight of narrow steps up. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and helpful with the menu. We ended up having a few small plates (charred cauliflower, roasted brussels sprouts, smoked herring spaghetti), an entree of half a roasted chicken, and the brownie dessert. All fabulous.
We were visiting philly and stayed close enough to walk there. It’s a nice area to stroll around. Since it’s located in a small historic neighborhood, i’m guessing parking is somewhat of a challenge.
Excellent from beginning to end!
Fabulous food although limited menu particularly when they are out of one of the mains. A bit noisy and cramped but par for the course these days. $14 for the Brussels sprouts is a little over the top.
We loved everything about our experience. The staff was friendly and professional. We were served well. The drinks were imaginative and delicious. The food was absolutely amazing! Some of our favorites were the shrimp cocktail, the beet pyramids, New York Strip, and the ice box cake. Wonderful evening out.
Service was great; our waiter was helpful and attentive. The food was delicious and packed with flavor. Huge fan of the mussel toast and my NY Strip was cooked perfectly. Interesting cocktail list, great wines and the decor was awesome. Tables were close together but I felt we could still hold a conversation without everyone else hearing. All in all a great dinner, worth it for anyone.
Nothing special imo
We had an awesome meal. Food was delicious. Initially, there was a very very minor issue with the timing of one of our guests meal...we didn’t complain and the issue really didn’t bother us at all but it was of great concern to the chef and waitstaff who, on their own , set about to make this right in their eyes (and then some). Thank you..it was above and beyond. Actually, i have never been taken care so well at a dining establishment . Gnocchi was the best anywhere ever. The roasted pig-face was out of this world. The skin crisp and delicious and the meat moist and flavorful. The bread and pickled vegetables altogether made this dish an outstanding flavor combination..the chef hit this one out of the park. I highly recommend Friday, Saturday, Sunday....
The food was incredible!!! Everything we ate from our drinks, appetizers, dinner to dessert were AMAZING. Our waiter was friendly and very accommodating. By far this restaurant was the best meal so far that I’ve had in Philly. I can’t wait to bring my friends so they can experience it.
Excellent smallish restaurant with a good-size bar on the first floor and tables on the second. Had three small plates (octopus that was tender and delicious, eggs and caviar with a great presentation and delicious duxelles at base and a fabulous chicken liver mousse), a veggie side (Brussel Sprouts that we’re amazing) and one large plate (baked chicken with crisp skin and tasty jus). We both had our own dessert that was excellent and loved the experience, the wait staff and of course, the food. Will return when I come back to Philly!
Food was average and did not live up to the rave reviews.
I understand most people do not or don’t know how to cook for themselves so i assume that is why the reviews are what they are.
Service was outstanding. Knowledge of the menu was impeccable. Could not have been more polished. The food was incredible. Perfect date night restaurant.
Delicious, creative food, beautifully plated. Wonderful service and the cocktails were awesome.
As always, it was amazing!!!
5 Star restaurant- outstanding
This place is awesome. Every dish we ordered was incredible- especially the spaghetti. Our server was very charming. We loved it! The cocktails may have been a tad over priced, but they’re also inventive and original.
Great experience! Amazing food! Must go place
Amazing food! We had the shrimp cocktail, octopus, Brussels sprouts, mussels toast, panna cotta and brownie. Shrimp cocktail was ok, the octopus had a great texture and was smoky and the pinto beans complimented it. Brussels sprouts were good but not memorable, mussel toast was tasty. For dessert, I was in heaven eating the brownie! I would order that over and over again! My husband liked the panna cotta; I thought it was good but loved my brownie more.
Our meal this time was not as good as usual, but that was probably because of our selection of dishes, not because of the quality of the food. First, the good: superbly made mixed drinks; perfect oysters; wonderful crispy lavash arranged in soft whipped butter, with a very light wash of honey and fennel ash - a wonderful combination of flavors that play off each other. It's lovely to have something other than the usual bread that just fills you up. The brussels sprouts were also excellent. The less impressive (to us): mussel toast, where the mussel flavor is drowned out by toasted bread; the sweetbreads, which were breaded and fried, then placed between two pieces of toasted bread - the main thing one could taste was bread and breading. it's not that it was bad - It's just my taste. I would have liked more creative pairing of the sweetbreads with something else, perhaps something a bit sharp or tangy or citrusy, that would play up the sweetness and smoothness of the sweetbreads. All in ll, still a lovely evening and a good meal, just not quite as superb as the previous meals we have had at the new FSS. We have now sampled just about all the small plate offerings the restaurant has, and so have a good idea of what works for us, what doesn't.
