It was excellent food and great service. Definitely recommend
We took Banquet. Great value for money. Yummy food with beautiful presentation. Staff was very humble and served with smile. The owner was also very sweet. Menu is awesome and innovative. Highly recommended. A must go.
Best Indian restaurant in town by far! Love the outdoor seating and food was unique!
Had a great lunch with family, the courtyard was a lovely place to sit in the sun, food was delicious.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Food was expensive and doesn't taste good.
The food and cocktails were great! Really delicious and exciting.
The staff were really lively but very unorganised.. we had to ask to order multiple times and asked 3 different staff for the bill and takeaway containers before someone finally brought them over. We weren’t annoyed by this because we had a lovely night and really enjoyed the food but still something for to note :)
Absolutely recommend the degustation - it’s a bit unclear but I think you have to book for the degustation ahead of time
Chose the 7 course degustation and first few courses were tasty but then a few later courses disappointed somewhat being a bit dry and needing an accompanying sauce
Pork belly was a little dry as well and dessert needed something to help the drier elements go down
Wanted to love it but left a little disappointed
Went first time and had booked table for 7:45pm , reached there on time and we were asked to wait for 10-15 minutes. We came back after 15 minutes waited again and then we were told that no table available.
Sorry..didnt see a genuine effort to accomodate us from staff. And expect table if i booked in advance.
Unfortunately the service we received was not very good so we didn't end up eating at the restaurant.
We were very disappointed to be told that “the chef would not substitute any food from the 7 course menu” after we ordered even though the menu states to let you know if there are dietary requirements needed so that you can substitute as required. To be told that we were meant to advise you before we came when there was no option to do so when making a booking and that the food was already pre-made (when we didn’t order in advance) was not a good response. The waitress then said that there are 2-3 seafood dishes and didn’t understand that if you gave it to me I wouldn’t be able to eat it anyway. We were excited to try your restaurant but being allergic to seafood is quite common and if you cannot accommodate this then why have a statement on the menu asking for special requirements? Not to mention that whilst this was all happening, after 25 minutes of waiting on responses we didn’t even receive our drinks.
We had an awesome night at GanJees!! We sat outside which was so lovely, food was very unique and delicious!! Great service !!
Food was outstanding - innovative but totally delicious - and the service was faultless. My dinner was a special treat for a young friend and it was a total success.
Very elegant atmosphere for dinner. Entrees are bit disappointed quality & quantity.Mains are very rich in taste including nana & roti especially green prawn curry amazing.
Ganjees was okay. The food was nice although nothing special and the prices were reasonable. I went with a friend and we were seated at a four person table and halfway through the staff asked us to move to a two seater table when a group of four arrived which was fine but why not seat us at a two person table to begin with? Our drinks were forgotten about. One staff member said we could split the bill and then when we went to pay another staff member said we couldn't split the bill. It was just a bit of a mess from the staff and it seemed like they weren't trained or prepared and it wasn't even that busy. I probably won't be back to be honest.
Trying to navigate which items on the menu were gluten free was a bit tricky, with the server having to check with the kitchen but failing to confirm the order had been put through until we followed up. I ordered a main while my friend ordered two entrees, asking to have them come out together, however the entree came out about 30 minutes before my main and that was with us asking again if the main could come out at the same time. My main was delicious, however my friend found her entrees a little lacking. Would order again but maybe get it takeaway given the waiting time and confusion with meal timings and order requirements.
Great quality food and the service was very nice. Convenient location.
Couldn’t fault what was a fabulous dinner. We went for the degustation 11 course menu - every dish was a delight with the staff consistently explaining the inspiration and ingredients. One of my new favourite restaurants in Canberra.
asily one of the best Indian places in Australia. Fantastic fusion options . Scallops Curry and the Lamb croquettes is out of this world. Pricey - average per person is 50-55$ for a three course meal. Great staff members who love serving you , booking in advance is a must.
The atmosphere and service has always been bad at this place but now the quality of food has gone down too. At one point I could hear the chef yelling and swearing at a server. The server was pushing us to order more food than we wanted. Then the server went ahead and ordered extra rice for us when we said we would order more if we need it. At least the manager decided not to charge us. I go back to this place only because their menu is innovative and the flavors are good. But this time everything tasted generic and didn’t match the description. Very disappointing experience and will probably never go there again. The prices are similar to all the other higher end restaurants on Lonsdale street but neither the food or the service come close to the other places in the area.
Lovely atmosphere and very attentive staff. Food was spectacular and a real modern spin on traditional flavours made to appeal to the modern diner.
First time visit. We had confirmed booking but on arrival were told there was no booking. After consulting the chef a table was found. Service was totally chaotic - for example a dish we did not order was delivered and a dish we ordered did not turn up only until after we complained. However, each dish that made it to the table was full of flavor and delicious.
We had a very bad experience at Ganjees. The avacado chaat had very hard (stone like pieces) bits which were not edible. I have had it once before and had liked it so wanted to try it again but it was not good. There was a hair in our food too. I had infomed the waitress serving us but she never came back with any response.
It was a slow Wednesday at GanJees so we had lots of attention from the knowledgeable and friendly wait staff. This place is trying to use Indian spices and flavours in innovative ways and this showed in the presentation of entrees. The Rogan Lamb Croquettes were outstanding served on a bed of puffed wheat, the quail spring rolls were light and crispy but lacked something while the naked curried scallops served in an old iron were a bit disappointing. Mains are generous and not your traditional Indian copper pot presentations. The stand out was the Rajasthani Lal-Mas beef - to die for! The Punjabi Style Dawat "Tandoori Chicken was moist but lacked the sophistication of the beef. Overall we had a good night at GanJees and at $175 for 3 people including $11 corkage and a mango lassie or two it was reasonable value for money.
What wonderful twists they put on Indian food. The standouts for me were the Naked Scallops and the Twice Cooked Crispy Pork Belly Curry, mmmmm. The dishes and the dinnerware were so bright and colourful. The service was wonderful.
We had visited their restaurant in Braddon, love the new space....perfect outdoor area for hot Summer night dining
Delicious flavours of India. Rogan croquets, butter paneer and butter chicken (kids menu) were favourites. Cocktails and mock tails delicious. Food presentation was all a part of the culinary journey. Definitely put this on your places to visit in Canberra.
The food is beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Warm friendly service and fun, comfortable atmosphere both inside and outside. Highly recommend you give this one a go!
Food was delicious n service was efficient.
Really great place and fantastic food! Service was wonderful, and sitting in the outdoor area was nice.
Excellent service and food from the friendly staff
The location is great and seating outside was very atmospheric. The staff were great. Very attentive and swift. The food was amazing - good size serves for the prices and delicious. Highly recommended.
The service was pretty average and the outdoor area does not have a lot of sun protection; so gets very hot. A family group was seated inside and they let their unsupervised children run and yell in the outside courtyard which made it hard to hear.
However, the food is well presented and good.
I heard a lot about from my friends
I did ask girl who was serving that I want lamb curry Indian style she gave me something which I can’t eat single bite .
Sorry to say won’t be recommending to anyone .
If it were possible to give no stars, I would. This was definitely the worst dining experience I’ve ever had anywhere. When my friends and I arrived, there was no table for us. They told us to wait 5-7 minutes. Half an hour later we were still waiting for a table out in the cold. When they finally placed us on the table, there was nothing on the table. No cutlery, serviettes, glasses or menus. We waited another 15 minutes for menus before we gave up and left. This was really disappointing as I was looking forward to trying this restaurant and supporting a local business. My experience was so bad that I wouldn’t be prepared to give them a second chance. Very disappointing.
We enjoyed the food we received, but unfortunately the kitchen seemed overwhelmed and we didn't get all the food we ordered. We saw others leaving for the same reason. Climbing on our seats with shoes on to turn heaters on was not so great. Thanks you to the staff for being courteous.
What a fantastic take on modern Indian. We ate the degustation menu and the chef's creations were delicious and very tasty with great presentation. Waitstaff were polite, attentive and knowledgeable about the food and flavours. Lovely setting (was a little cool outside). Really enjoyed our evening will definitely be returning!
When we arrived our table wasn’t ready even though the place didn’t have many people. There was five of as and when they delivered the entree it was only for four. We hade to ask for an extra one of each. The main meals were great but very small and slow to come out even thought the place was only about 50% capacity. Overall it was very expensive.
Wonderful restaurant and staff. Can’t wait to return!
Came at 7pm with a reservation and unfortunately by 745 all we were served were our drinks. When we asked where our food was they told us that it was being plated. We watched as diners who came in 30 minutes after us received two of their meals and so we enquired again then they told us that it would be another 5 minutes.
Unfortunately we waited until 815pm at which point we still hadn’t received our food and watched yet another table who came after us get their food. We would have appreciated some entrees to keep us nibbling but unfortunately they did not offer and our ordered entrees didn’t come out.
I can understand if the venue is busy and if everyone was waiting but they were at half of the covid capacity limit and it seemed to only be us waiting for food. The venue itself is nice but the service at this point in time is abysmal.
The food and service was very good but we were seated in the outside area initially when it was raining . The area was not waterproof which made it quite uncomfortable for all the diners outdoors .Luckily we managed to get moved to a table indoors.
I had made a booking for 7 PM but was not seated until 8 PM, an experience shared by many diners this evening. The issue appeared to be that on a day when heavy rains were predicted, our party had been allocated an outside table. Consequently, we were obliged to stay outside in wet conditions until the diners inside (who showed some reluctance to depart) had left. In my opinion, this was due to poor planning by management and possibly, overbooking.
