Gatsby is a reimagined American diner by KNEAD Hospitality + Design in collaboration with Mah-Ze-Dahr Bakery.     Limited service from a waiter who tended to disappear often. A general sense of disorganization. They wouldn’t seat our party of three when we were missing a person, thus they lost on the revenue from the apps and drinks we would have ordered while waiting. Food was decent. The space is nice.

    I am a frequent diner at gatsby, but the service tonight was terrible. We got an appetizer and entrees and were there over two hours waiting and waiting at every step of the way, even though the restaurant wasn’t anywhere near even half capacity.

    We had a brunch date on a very busy Saturday (graduation) so it was louder than we anticipated. I was surprised that the bottomless brunch drinks were required by everyone at the table. The Bloody Mary was not good but she let us switch it out for a beer. I ordered steak and eggs and he had the Greek omelette. The steak was just ok. Not seasoned and not what I would call cooked to temp (medium) but we stay for several hours and finished drinks and dessert and coffee. All in all it was a good date.

    The food was excellent, however, one meal did not come out hot. We asked about sitting at a booth, which we were denied, but then we’re filled by the next few parties that walked in, which were not together. Wait staff was very friendly and and atmosphere was very well themed.

    This spot is super duper cute with a really good vibe. When I made the reservation I requested to sit outside for brunch on that beautiful Saturday which was not a problem for the hostesses that stated that I could only be seated when my plus 1 arrived. The hostesses were extremely friendly and professional. Once sat we immediately ordered the Stuffed Croissant, French Toast, Greek Omelette, and had Deviled Eggs to start. The croissants are made in house and was super fluffy & buttery but honestly could've used more stuffing. The French Toast was good, decadent and not too sweet. Both the Greek Omelet and Deviled Eggs were a little on the bland side and were just ok. Quartez was a great server. He was very attentive and went above & beyond to make sure we were well taken care of.

    We wanted to dine before a Nationals' ballgame so booked Gatsby. To our surprise, it is literally across the street from the stadium - couldn't be more convenient. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered avocado dip appetizer, mussels, and chicken pot pie. They were perfectly OK, but not wonderful. I recommend this restaurant if attending a game, but wouldn't go back there just for the food.

    Great food. We had the dutch oven pancake and the vegetable quiche and the buttermilk pancakes. The drinks were amazing also. We had the Hola Pina and it was delicious. Definitely a must return. Our Server David was amazing.

    While our server was extremely nice and friendly and truly the highlight of our dining experience, I found everything else to be lackluster. The decor is nice and I wish the restaurant invested in nice stemware and plating. Some of the drinks call for a coupe or to be served without regular ole ice. It would be nice to have those small details that elevate the experience. Given that everything was pretty basic and not spectacular - we hurried to finish and find a location more to our liking.
