Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
Excelente servicio de parte de Alfredo
Amazing meal. Every dish was cooked to perfection. I normally don’t like cauliflower and even that was good!
Only negative of the restaurant, I would recommend some investment into sound deadening in the ceilings, it got pretty loud inside the restaurant.
Short ribs with carmel sauce were outstanding as well the goat belly.
Everything was excellent!! The mix of flavors were outstanding and vert good service.
Loved! Such a fun spot with a wonderful aesthetic.
everything was outstanding. already planning our next trip back. see you in 3 months, g&tg!
One of the most incredible meals we have had this year. Our server Devon was amazing. The green beans and pork shank are a must!
The food is always amazing and they were super helpful with food allergies (dairy, egg, soy, gluten, nuts), bringing us a menu marking everything that was safe.
It's challenging to remain engaged when the only reservations are after 8pm. Was almost falling asleep at the table. I know it's a good problem to have to be popular and in demand but just makes the customer experience a bit more difficult. Nonetheless place is great just with it was easier to get a table !
Phenomenal food. Great service. Energetic lively restaurant.
Dinner exceeded my expectations. I also had a delicious dessert across the street at the Little Goat Diner and a cocktail a Cabra. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Chef Izard!
One of the best restaurants in Chicago! Be sure to try the wood oven roasted pig face! Also be sure to set a reservation far in advance.
If you accept reservations at 10:45 p.m., do not close the kitchen at 11:00 p.m
Incredible! And the service was as good as the food!
Had an incredible meal at Girl and the Goat. I was dining solo due to travel and my server clued me in to the amazing fact that they do half size portions of their appetizers and desserts to accommodate solo diners being able to taste more dishes.
The carrot hummus and chickpea fritters were my favorite dish, and the crispy halibut was cooked to perfection.
I will definitely be back!!
Really lives up to the hype. Everything was perfect, from the food, presentation, service (both server and bus staff), drinks.. everything. I enjoyed it even better than the Michelin starred restaurants I tried. I would come back every trip. And thanks for the anniversary goodies. What a memorable dining experience!
You should go to Girl & The Goat. Whether you live in Chicago, or are just visiting. Whether you love going to hyped-up hard-to-get-into places or prefer the burger joint closest to your train stop. Whether you eat meat or not. Honestly, just go. They have something for all of that. They're hyped up, but not priced out of a "normal" person's wallet and all the hype is for good reason. They're amazing at meat, but I've never had a veggie dish here that didn't rival the meat in flavor and originality. And they're quintessential Chicago. They're something for our city to be proud of. Just do it. Go online, make a reservation, and prepare to love everything.
Believe the reviews- it was even better than I expected! Yes, it’s a little noisy, but really not that bad. Service and food were exceptional. I would definitely go back.
We sat at the bar and it’s a good thing we did, because it was very loud to be sitting at a table. Overall, the food was very good, still overpriced though.
Fabulous selection, unusual and creative dishes. Perfect blend of savory, sweet, salty... yum!
We have been waiting to eat here for a long time and it far and away exceeded expectations! The food was excellent, we left stuffed and happy. And we were lucky enough to sit at the counter looking into the kitchen and everyone was so friendly and awesome, seeing the food prepared was really amazing. Thank you Hector, Emily, and Koli for a fantastic night!
I’ve been dying to get to this place and I finally had a chance. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Everything from the wine to quinoa bread to soft shell crab was AH-MAY-ZING! Truly a culinary feat, can’t wait to come back!
Can't really go wrong with any menu item. Love the chickpea fritters, short ribs, and goat empanadas.
Best meal of my life. Attention to detail in every dish was something I’ve never seen before.
Took my parents here for the first time, and they were blown away by the incredible food and service. Every dish we had was distinctive, creative, and delicious. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly; attentive, but not overly so. My only note is that the restaurant is dimly lit with loud music, so if you are hard of hearing the ambience might not be for you.
Excellent food, but the meal experience is really damaged by the loud music.
Sound is so loud that we could not even speak to each other!!!
This is not a disco, please consider decreasing the music so that we can enjoy your fantastic food
Friendly staff, fun atmosphere (but noisy) and 4 out of our 5 dishes were outstanding, the fifth was good.
Everything was absolutely magical!!! I will definitely come back when I’m in the Chicago area!!!
Amazing place great food
All of the food was outstanding (try as much as you can!) and every single staff member I interacted with was smiling, kind, and helpful
The food was amazing!!! This would be good restaurant with a large group of friends.
Amazing dishes, especially the seafood - sea scallops were perfection! Also very much enjoyed the roasted cauliflower, and the beet salad. I’m not an adventurous diner, so I skipped the goat dishes, pig face, and duck tongues. I did try the pork belly, which my husband raved about. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere is fun and lively. Wish the portions could be a bit more generous for the prices. Every dish looked lovely and was carefully crafted.
Everything was great except the noise level. Definitely will return.
The two of us split 5-6 dishes and were stuffed. The service was great, and every recommendation was amazing! The food was definitely not a let down and I didn't think it was ridiculously overpriced considering how trendy it is and the area it's located.
Our waiter said "We have a good table for you." He was wrong--it was the best table in the restaurant. This may sound odd, because it actually faces into the kitchen. Here's why it's great--you get to watch the food being prepared, talk with the chefs, ask questions of the friendly young culinary professionals, and in a moment I particularly loved, we watched a dessert being prepared and the woman preparing it handed it directly over the counter to us. The service was impeccable, the food to die for, and the bill, with dessert more than enough for two, 3 cocktails, an large appetizer (plus another starter our server brought us gratis) two mains, and an experience to remember, was $83. This, at a world-class restaurant at which you need to make reservations at least two months in advance. If you want to try a walk-in, you won't get in, but don't worry, there are other restaurants on the block, including the Little Goat Diner, Girl and the Goat's casual (although still outstanding) restaurant across the street. However, I can't imagine any of them holding a candle to G&TG.
My wife and I have weird allergies and I have never been to a restaurant with a serving staff and chef were so accommodating
We ordered about half the menu. Each plate was exceptional. Cudos to this restaurant
Reservation was at 8, didn't get seated until near 8:30.
Our server was CLEARLY trying to rack up our bill and was all about sales. The first thing she said was "if there is not a drink in front of you, I would like there to be". Did not feel like a genuine or natural service in the least.
