Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
Celebrated our 29th Anniversary and enjoyed everything we ordered. The lamb ribs are a must try. We will be back.
WOW! This place is fabulous! The food is unique and extra tasty. The flavor combinations are unexpected and amazingly delicious. Love the short ribs. Make sure you save room for dessert! We were a party of 2 and were seated at a bar that faced the open kitchen. So fun!!
Even though I was feeling ill, I truly enjoyed the whole experience!! Our server was great and very accomodating!
Absolutely fantastic! My wife and have had this place on our list for a long time and it certainly was worth the wait. Every dish was so carefully put together and each bite was complete. Knowledgeable staff really made the visit that much more enjoyable as they helped pair our food selections with the perfect wines. Definitely will be returning! Loved the experience!
Great place! Outstanding food! The serving system is very clever and makes enjoying the meal so much more fun.
An unusual food experience........great service, excellent food, entertaining atmosphere, and a full house. Even though the dishes that we ordered were exceptionally prepared and presented the cost of the dinner compared to size of the portions was disproportionate.
Unique menu and excellent service in a warm environment make a memorable meal.
Service was great. Spicy shrimp dish and green beans were delicious; scallops dish could have been better. We were expecting more than two scallops for that price.
We had a wonderful time celebrating a belated Valentine’s Day! The service was impeccable, and we had a kitchen-view seat, which was an awesome bonus! The food was spectacular, and the drinks were all wonderful as well! The Girl and the Goat has been my favorite dining experience here in Chicago! (I’ve been here for work since November.)
Amazing! Great good, great atmosphere. Would 100% go again
Fast & great service! Food presentation was A+
This was by far one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Service was fantastic, food and drinks were amazing, and they even acknowledged that it was our anniversary just from us stating special occasion on our reservation from Open Table.
Long wait but totally worth it
Owen was our sever and he was absolutely amazing! We were able to sit at the chefs table and was great. Owen gave us great recommendations and made sure we had time to enjoy every dish.
10/10. They have a secret vegan menu! Just ask your server.
We booked reservations for an anniversary celebration, and were delighted with the entire experience. Since it was our first visit, the server helped us decide what to order, and suggested an amazing combination of food and flavors. We started with the goat empanada, and moved on to the green beans and the shishuto peppers. We also had the shrimp and lamb ribs. Words fail to describe the wonderful flavor and quality. Since the dishes are all served as small plates to share, we look forward to going back with a bigger group so that we can order more selections to share.
Great Food and Service- All dishes were very well balanced and portions were great for party of 4. Would highly recommend , the pig face, green beans, pork shank
Great food! Shareable plates with a variety of different options. Loved it!
Food, service, ambience executed perfectly
The best place ever. Wonderful food, atomosphere and service!
I made a reservation for valentines’day in Dec,and only got 10:45 option which they close at 11pm. But I don’t think it worth this. The food is special compare than other restaurants, they have goat liver, pig face, you cannot get this in other restaurant. But that’s it. Th food are way too salty for me. Yes maybe I’m a poor flavor person. But after had a late dinner here,me and my husband are both keeping feeling thirsty that whole night and can’t stop drinking water either can’t fall asleep because of thirsty. That’s a terrible experience! My husband google the reason and it says maybe because there’s too much MSG in the food. So just FYI,if you don’t like salty food or keep drinking water for hours,do not come here.
Loved our Valentine’s Day dinner was phenomenal! We were blown away by every dish and couldn’t get over the beet salad, the artic char, and the marinated chicken dishes. Would highly recommend and will dine again!
Third time! Never disappoints. Worth every penny. Great food, service and ambience
Valentine’s Day Dinner
Great variety of food and savory dishes. Service was great. We ordered a several glasses of wine but the pour was skimpy. Overall a great experience. We would go back.
Girl and the Goat is one of the best restaurants in the city. Maybe in the country. Every dish is thoughtful and flavorful without being pretentious. We had an outstanding meal and every person their was gracious and welcoming! Kudos to our server Olven-- his pacing and attention couldn't have been better. GREAT MEAL
Delicious early Valentine’s Day dinner. Service was fine, food was great, got us in and out very quickly
Excellent food and services. All-in the experience was amazing!
Fantastic food. Great atmosphere. Absolutely coming back next time I’m in Chicago.
I would recommend anyone to come here. It was the best food I have ever had and the group I was with agrees. As a Chef myself, i would love to meet Stephanie as she is an influence to me and she is a seafood genius.
Owen was fabulous.
First time diner. Exceeded all my expectations. Service was impeccable. Food was over the top. All in all, a top tier restaurant. No drama. Just good food.
The food was fantastic and lived up to the billing and hype. We also had the extreme good fortune to be seated at the counter in front of the kitchen. It was fascinating to watch the staff in action preparing our food in front of us. If you can score those seats, I highly recommend it.
Every time I come to Chicago, all I can think of is that I must have pig face in my mouth. The food is always exquisite.
Every dish we had surprisingly reflected the menu description.
Our server Devon was incredible, food and overall experience were fantastic. Enjoyed our family dinner very much.
Food service= excellence
Took my dad out for dinner here and couldn't have been more impressed! To our surprise we were seated looking into the kitchen and got the opportunity to not just see how everything was prepared but also have some good chat with the chefs. The chefs provided some good advice and also hooked us up with some complimentary dishes. Much love! Our favorite fish was by far the confetti goat belly! So flavorful, so tender, so rich! Girl and the Goat is definitely a must visit if your in the Chicago area!!
The food was very hit or miss. Two of the dishes were great, two were inedible. The hostess also left us waiting in the bar (she asked us to wait there saying our table wasn't quite ready) and 20 min later she was taking other parties of 2 direct to their tables upon checkin. We had to ask if she'd forgotten us. She was unapologetic and said she could seat us now.
