First time here although it will not be the last. Eric looked after us throughout and Maggie was an excellent server with a wonderful upbeat temperament. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The place was very clean including the bathroom and the only downside is that with the patio seating being so limited we are concerned that next time we go back we might not get outside seating, which we prefer.
The chefs were totally on their game and each dish was as enjoyable as the last. Well done to all!
This was our first visit. All staff was super friendly. Had the lobster roll which was fabulous. Service was prompt. Looking forward to going again! Go and enjoy!
We all enjoyed our meals very much, homemade pita and falafel, delicious pancakes, breakfast sandwich...
Lovely find - staff was super nice, friendly and accommodating! Will come back again!!
On every level, Grove knocked it out of the park, in our opinion! From the gracious greeting of the hostess to the warm lighting of the room, we were enchanted. It was clear that the staff cared greatly for our safety (this review is written in the time of COVID restrictions), and that they wanted us to have as relaxed an experience as we would any other time. The drinks were inventive and refreshing, the food was delicious- I convinced my husband to try a bite of pickled celery from the giardiniera plate, and ended up losing the entire thing to him. We loved the burrata, the spring rolls were the crispest we've had, and enjoyed the coulotte steak and the monkfish/mussel entrees thoroughly. Really, I'm gushing, but I can't help it. We ended the night with a delightful chat with the assistant manager, Eric, and can't wait to visit he and his team again. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
This was our first visit to the Grove. We loved everything about it. Delightful atmosphere, very friendly hostess and server. The evening special was swordfish which was excellent. My husband had the monkfish served with mussels that he was crazy about. We’ll definitely be back soon!
Had the clam chowder and lobster scampi with sangria. House made oyster crackers were outstanding for dipping into the chowder and the scampi had a generous portion of lobster. Absolutely delicious with very comfortable indoor dining!
Second visit here. First time was outstanding. Second time was disappointing based on food, (Lobster Scampi).
Best brunch ever! Super family friendly and safe. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and friendly! Food and cocktails were amazing!
We are so happy your family loved the food and cocktails, even better when you can enjoy them with the entire family! Thank you for the 5-star review, we are glad to be back.
Wonderful Place to dine!! It has been our list to try, very friendly staff and food was wonderful. We will be back for dinner, we tried them for lunch last weekend and it was great!
Sesame sales with chicken was delicious!
Best Bloody Mary and pancakes I’ve ever had. Great value for the experience and location. Very friendly waitstaff. We will be back!
Thank you for the great review! It sounds like you had the essentials at Brunch, and we hope you'll get to try even more of the summer menu soon. We really appreciate your support.
The food was amazing as always! The new set up is very strange. I understand that accommodations have to be made for the current climate, CV19 and all, but I did not feel that the set up at Grove was helpful in any way. The hostess station should not be in the middle of the patio, it should be at the entrance, I really didn’t like having a parade of people walk by our table to check in while we were eating. Standing in a line to order food rather than staying at my own table didn’t make me feel safer, and having to get up from my meal on stand in line to get another drink to return to cold food wasn’t awesome. I hope they set things up a little better in the future.
We come come here #1 for the food & #2 for the service.
As I said, the food was excellent but the service was friendly but the set up was kind of awful.
We appreciate the kind words about our food and friendly service. It’s our first week back open and we are working towards creating a safe and comfortable environment. Our team has worked very hard in the last month to meet, and exceed safety guidelines. We know this style of service will take some getting used to, but we hope you continue to visit. As things progress, we will make adjustments to the setup and service style. We appreciate your feedback and hope to serve you again soon.
It’s difficult to improve upon the quality of time tested breakfast meals, but The Grove’s chef certainly did, with amazing taste and creativity.
Excellent all around experience!!! Brunch was amazing! I need to go back for dinner as their menu looks spectacular!
Summer menu is amazing; lobster scampi was beyond compare and enough for 2 meals!
I really feel bad about giving such a low rating especially with the restrictions placed on restaurants during Covid. However, the idea that I have to wait in line to place my food order, then have to pick up my own drinks at the bar was very disappointing not to mention annoying. The service was mediocre but can't really blame the wait staff as they seemed confused about their role. Hopefully, things will return to a more "normal" once the restrictions let up! Whenever that will be.
Thanks for visiting within our first few days back open. We understand that restrictions on restaurants have changed the restaurant atmosphere you enjoyed. We miss having table service, and seats at the bar too! At this time, a counter-service model is a safer method of service for our staff. Being closed for three months was not easy, and our team has been working hard to reopen. This style of service is temporary and we do hope you’ll continue to visit as we get closer to normal this year.
Good food. Good safety precautions. great patio seating.
Great first weekend opening - food was amazing.
Process for COVID isn’t the greatest but not their fault - they made it work.
The food itself was very good (however, the potato skins could have used more cheese & sauce). The setting is very beautiful. Understanding that working within the confines of Covid-19 is challenging, it felt that the Grove's approach of having customers walk inside to an ordering station (for drink, appetizers, meals, etc.) seemed like take-out or fast food. We have been to multiple restaurants in MA and NH where the servers placed food on your table or on an adjacent table, but took all orders as normal (while wearing masks). We were told that we'd receive a txt message when our drinks were ready, so that we coul go inside again to pick them up, yet that never happened, and I had to go inside several times to ask where our beverages were. Finally, they were delivered to our table! So, if all food and drinks were delivered to our table, then why can't orders be taken at the table, or why do we have to go inside to pick up our own drinks? Finally, and in part due to the inside ordering station approach, we were given the bill for another table, which fortunately wasn't far off from our tab. In short, the inconvenience in the process seemed unnecessary and had a negative effect on the dining experience.
Thank you for visiting on our first day open! We’re so glad you loved the setting and agree that you can never have enough cheese & sauce! Counter-service allows us to have less servers interacting in close quarters behind-the-scenes. In our space, full table service would put our servers, and ultimately our guests at risk. This style of service will not last forever, we have improved some of the communication issues you described. We hope you’ll return to enjoy the food and setting again.
We missed the Grove. So glad it’s back open. Wonderful and safe service. Great food.
Thank you for the 5-star review and for supporting Grove in our first week back!
This place let me reserve a table 2 days lagoon open table. We arrived and it was clearly CLOSED. Not open at all. We drove 40mins to eat here thinking it was open. Very frustrating.
In our attempts to get Grove back open, our reservation system was turned on briefly ahead of our opening date – Thursday, June 25th 2020. We are open now and do sincerely apologize that we did not catch this early reservation before you arrived. We would love to make it up to you and hope you’ll give us another chance. If you’d like to get in touch with our team, we can ensure that your next visit does not disappoint!
We joined Grove for the Jazz Brunch and it was wonderful - great jazz, good food, and excellent service.
Food and drinks were outstanding. This is definitely my top pic for favorite dining spot on the north shore or maybe in all of Massachusetts
We were looking forward to dining @ Grove Thai/curry mussels. Amazing dinners of Fish Seared Swordfish. Save room for the Upside/down Strawberry Cake. Manager Eric spoke with us briefly to ensure that everything was to our liking. We were already planning our return visit.
Everything was fantastic other than our waitress - she was not attentive, was slow, and not friendly.
Wonderful time, thank you!
The burger was outstanding!!!!
Many dishes we wanted to try. They all sound good. We loved, loved, loved the Tuna Tartar. My duck cassoulet was perfect: a crispy, perfectly-seasoned duck leg confit and a tasty pork & duck sausage/brat on top of a marvelous bean and vegetable stew. Excellent wine, beer and specialty cocktail menu. Very attentive service. Quite quiet, romantic venue fit for both special occasions and frequent visits. I'm ready to return!
Service is outstanding
Great spot new to Rowley. Tried it for lunch with great results...we will return for dinner soon!
Lovely setting, noise level was too loud and the server started off poor but redeemed herself in the end. Food was good
Delicious meals. Ordered breakfast sandwiches, frittata, side sausage. Sandwiches were wonderful once we sent them back to have egg prepared over hard. Served over easy and yolk would have run tight out of sandwich. Server was nice and engaged in conversation but did not pass on my request for egg white and never really checked in or offered ground pepper- which I wanted. Clean, beautiful restaurant. Lovely hostess.
Beautiful space. Was excited to try this place. Went for Sunday brunch. Service- they have some kinks to work out. Service was slow. Waitress never came to check on our meal. Food was adequate, nothing special. Will probably give another try- for dinner.
The brunch is very very good there.
Very good brunch, nicely designed and decorated restaurant.
Loved it! Beautiful space, delicious food, hidden gem. Will remember it at the holidays when we get together for a Christmas brunch with family. Also, would like to try lunch and dinner before then.
We love the brunch especially the jazz brunch
Interesting food. Service not excellent. Could be better, staff enthusiastic but couple of times they seem untrained.
Like The Grove but they've got lots of competition.
Service and food were exceptional, love the local menu. Beautiful dining room and perfect for a quiet evening!
Had a wonderful time at Grove. Everything from the drinks, food, and service was excellent. The portions are extremely generous. The atmosphere is relaxed, fun, and all staff were attentive.
