Gyu-Kaku - Boston, MA | Brookline
Traditionally we called ourselves a Yakiniku Restaurant we are known for the delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats, veggies and Seafood items for grill!
Enjoy an ice cold Draft Beer as you grill your own meat and don't forget the signature dessert at the end of your meal!
We were disappointed that they did away with the lunch special on weekends which was the big draw for us in the past.
Prefer this location than the other newer Boston location as the grills here are authentic and the new place has Korean style grills that we don't care for! Bartender Sabrina is the best!
One of the best meals that I have had in Boston, would recommend to anyone.
It’s pretty good.
We had reservations for a party of 6 on a busy Friday night. Our waiter, Tucker, was excellent - he took the time to explain the overwhelming menu and the process and made some great recommendations. The food was great and we all had a lot of fun. We'll definitely go back!
My friend visited me in Boston and we had a lunch. The lunch special menu was good, offers a lot of options. The spicy tuna volcano is a bit disappointed. It used to be my favorite appetizer at Gyu-Kaku, but I don’t think I’ll order it anymore. Other than that, it was good!
It was an amazing experience! We really loved our host tonight who took care of us (I didn’t catch his name). We had requested a sectioned off table that was still being occupied by customers who had already paid and were just hanging around. The manager and the host very courteously requested that the guests let the next guests be able to use the table. It was very swift and very decorous. And our server Katherina was very informative and kept up with us constantly throughout the night. As a former server, I greatly appreciate the her and another sever keeping our water glasses full the entire time. Thank you! Hope we come again soon!
Had to wait a little bit for a seat despite having a reservation, which was kind of annoying, but everything else was great!
We love gyu-kaku. The kids meals are perfect for our kids and the food is always so delicious. We always can’t wait to go back!!!
The best BBQ place I went. The great quality of their foods!
We had an amazing experience! A great atmosphere and service. The servicers are great and they definitely work hard. Made our anniversary one of the best!
Great reasonable japanese bbq. Great experience since we also got to sit outside.
Our server, Andrew, was very thorough with his explanation of the All you can eat menu for my boyfriend who had never been before! The food was absolutely amazing, as always. We were seated quickly, the host was very kind and the server checked on us often. His turnover rate was pretty decent too. As a restaurant manager myself, I have a higher level of expectation that I have a bad habit of carrying with me. Gyu-Kaku always hits the mark. Our cocktails were made quickly and were well-made. We’ll be coming back as long as they’re in business!
It’s going down. I went there after over a year. Portion was smaller, food came slow. Meat wasn’t good quality. Restaurant wasn’t clean. Disappointed.
Our wait staff was nice but others weren’t good. Won’t go back again. Not worth for the money.
Food was great the atmosphere was good, service is good too. Had a nice dinner
I wasnt into the idea of cooking my own food, but its surprisingly painless. Really tasty food, and our server was fantastic. The lunch menu is what we selected on a weekday, and its great value.
Enjoyable and good food
Amazing! Loved that you can cook your own food! Amazing flavors!
Love all the meat. Alway loved this place. Enthusiastic and friendly attitude.
Hall way close to restroom smells
Gas stove not working properly
there was a problem with the fire. It went out most of the time. the barbecue experience was not good. Service was average. one meat was kind of smelly. not sure. but it tasted very bad. not as good as it used to be.
We have a happy meal there!
Excellent meat quality, fun to grill your own meat, tasty side dishes and desserts.
Excellent service Amazing food
I’ve enjoyed the food and service at Gyu-Kaku in Las Vegas and Chicago, and this Boston location was great too! The quality of service and food you get, especially during their happy hour menu is outstanding! Each order is relatively small in portion, but that allows you to try different types of meat and side dishes. I can’t wait to go back with my family.
We have a great dinner.
Hmmm, not worth the hype. Meat brought to your table that you have to cook! If I have to cook it, I should not have to pay full retail price for it! I was brought the smallest 5 scallops that I have ever seen! I would have preferred two good sized ones. 4 shrimp, less than a quarter of beef, a few vegetables, no alcohol and the bill was $50 dollars! So crazy and I have to cook it. Nope, the flavors were not there enough for me. Next time, I will stay home and grill triple the amount for the same 50. What a ripoff!
Bailuy was our server and she by far was amazing!
the meat was not good.. not sure if it was old, but it did not taste fresh. also, the rice was hard and unpleasant to chew.
Our waiter Victor was really just the best waiter I could ask for. Always asked if we needed something even though we had it. Offered us water and always asked if we wanted to order more food (we had the supreme buffet). Offered us all the specials and told us about them and even though it was packed because we came at 730pm, he still met all our needs and made sure me and my partner felt welcomed. I would always ask Victor to be my server because I will be coming back here again!
Food is good. The lunch menu is a good way to try out different kind of meat. The dining room is a bit smoky and noise. Overall, a good place to grill some meat.
The back room has no air conditioning... so if you’re seated there you will literally pass out from the heat of the room in the summer + the grill. Most miserable experience with everyone profusely sweating
The food was simply delicious and the service was excellent.
The environment was very good. Especially the Kalbi Beef and Green Tea ice cream was impressive! Five Star!
Terry was patient and overall AMAZING! We had a great experience !
Great place and yummy food for whole family - ages 7-69!
It was the 2nd time the burner at the table had mechanical problems. My dining experience back in January, at the same Brookline location, was the same problem: the table burner had mechanical problems and my dining party had to be moved to an available table towards the end of our meal. This time, the burner went out a total of 4x and each time, the staff members were more than apologetic and tried to fix the problem. It wasn’t any staff members/diner error; it was 100% an internal problem with the burner itself. I hope this gets fixed soon.
Can get loud but still a nice and relaxing place to eat
When I realized Gyu-Kaku was a chain, expectiation were not high, but HOLY COW what a good time. Went for my son's 14th birthday with another family. If you are the parent of a 14 yo boy, you know they're a hard demograhic to impress. Everything is lame and boring. Nothing is cool enough. Well, the boys had a blast. They enjoyed grilling their own meal. The staff was just fantastic. The room was fun, not stuffy. Great time had by all.
