So disappointing. I’d raved about Ham Yard to my friends but ended up apologising for booking the table. We booked for 19.30 as we had to be at a show by 21.30. By 21.05 we still hadn’t received the main courses (I asked 3 waiters to hurry them up). 3 of the 5 of us had swordfish which was barely warm. 2 had pork which was good. There was no point in sending it all back so we ate quickly and ended up having to run to the show. This was the set menu which we thought would be geared towards theatre-goers so I thought we had ample time.
Have eaten here many many times always excellent food great staff always remember you. It’s my go to place always has a good atmosphere
Finding a good pre theatre restaurant in west end is so much better these days and this hotel (part of the firmdale group) is a good find. It was quiet on a Monday evening which was good and the food very nice from the set menu; a la carte is dear. With a glass of sparkly included and excellent service we will return!
Absolutely fantastic! Thanks guys, you know how to run the place well!!! Service was amazing.
Everything was good. But the restaurant was very noisy so they should play some music.
Brilliant for pre theatre dinner, or for a special night out. Great service, and a lovely room.
Food is first class, one of our favourite places.
Great food and service nicely paced meal staff very helpful wine a little on the expensive side but food well priced
The best venue in London. Outstanding decor , incredible ambience, excellent food and impeccable service. We keep on returning.
Had pre-theatre dinner here on my birthday. My husband had made a mistake when booking on line so we didn’t actually have a reservation. Despite it being very busy the lady checking customers in was very helpful and managed to find us a table.
I really like the whole vibe and eclectic decor. Food was great and really good for my husband’s gf intolerance. I gave the food 4 as I thought the beet starter at £10 was small and underwhelming and the crab Caesar was really a large portion of dressed crab on a big lettuce leaf with croutons and whole anchovies - not much salad. My husband loved the lamb dish which was simple but well done. Truffle fries were also very good. Staff were very nice and attentive although we did feel a little abandoned once our mains were served.
Great location for a lunch meeting. 2–course set menu had good choices, all tasty. Chargrilled swordfish was particularly good. As others have commented, the portions are fairly small but that suited me well, especially at lunch time when no one wants to go back to work sleepy and full. Friendly service. Quite noisy at busy times but that adds to the buzzy atmosphere - and show me somewhere with good food at decent prices in central London that isn’t! I’d definitely go back
The wait staff were very nice but completely over bearing. We were interrupted every 3 min on average and were out of the restaurant within 40 minutes. Very rushed and stressful.
A high end feel, with well-dressed clientele and immpecable waiting staff. The overall experience was great, just wish they hadn't taken so long to bring the wine ;)
We usually have the set menu which is very good value and usually has things to tempt us all. However, most of us ended up eating a la carte as it wasn’t as appealing as usual. So, although the food was very good, not such a good value evening. We had booked outside eating but unfortunately due to this dreadful weather we ate inside. Such a shame but better luck next time.
This is a top quality venue. Super surroundings.
We just had the pre theatre set menu. The smoked mackerel salad was light and v refreshing as was the chargrilled swordfish. Perfect for pre theatre.
Excellent service. Thoroughly recommend.
Delicious food. Service was excellent, our waitress wasn’t very knowledgeable on the bar menu and a bit inattentive, but the other wait staff were efficient with getting the food to us. Overall great experience. I was a bit disappointed that it was my birthday and they didn’t do anything special for it.
Great place, good staff, warm atmosphere, love it. I will go back.
Ham Yard has a cool vibe and offers outdoor space, a bar and sitdown dining. It is noisy though. All the waitstaff was really nice, but they messed up our order a little bit. They were quick to remediate and apologised afterwards. The food is good, but really overpriced and portion size is small.
Great value for the offer we had. Nice prosecco and 2 courses. Portions were a bit small but reasonable for the price. Nice venue.
Service was good - menu great choice on Opentable deal. Restaurant atmosphere and setting was great too. First time there but will not be the last now found it!
Lovely venue for lunch, friendly staff and buzzy atmosphere.
It was incredibly loud and the service was so slow, through no fault of the service staff as they were rushed off their feet. It just seemed there were too many people packed into one place with not enough space or service staff or kitchen staff.
We went there to celebrate my birthday, it was nice and
Having to ask for our wine to be topped up constantly annoying. Sat waiting for the dessert menu for 20 minutes Managers eventually cleared our table whilst the junior staff members were amateurish. They appeared like trainees from a college brought in for a days work experience . Wine choice was good and food tasty.
Delicious and excellent value set menu in a stunning setting. We had a lovely lunch and the millionaire’s shortbread was as amazing as our waitress promised it would be.
Great restaurant. It has a nice buzz and the waiter who looked after us was particularly good. This is my 5th visit to ham yard.
Excellent venue, warm, vibrant, great food and super space to enjoy time with friends, colleagues and family - I loved that we had lots of space - none of the tables looked or felt crammed in....
We would have liked a better placed table we were near a door which was opened and shut regularly making it a bit chilly and some tables were made up with a white cloth and some were not. We would have preferred if it had been made up with a white cloth as it was dinner with clients but overall the evening was good
Fantastic restaurant, great atmosphere, a little bit pricey
Overly polite waiters and ok food in a nice setting.
Pleased to find such an interesting place with great food and service. Disagree with comments about tipping and portion size - tasty, quite sophisticated and fun
Small portions for starters salads. Wouldn’t hurt to place more greens.
consistently great service and food. lovely interior design. set menu is good vfm. worth booking
Ham Yard Bar and Restaurant is one of my favourite restaurants in London.
I usually take my husband for dinner but this time I asked my old friend on Friday night.
She said that she really had a great time too!!
Great ambience, I love the decoration. Food is good and the set menu is great value for money. Will definitely go again.
We had a lovely meal at Ham Yard Bar and Restaurant, our waiter was fantastic, and the meal deal was great value. My only criticism would be that the bar is very expensive and the selection of wines are over-priced. However the restaurant atmosphere was lovely and one the bar had become less busy it was easier to enjoy a cocktail and chat.
Everything was great, staff, food, cleanliness. A three course lunch for two with two bottles of sparkling water, no wine, no alcoholic drinks if any kind and the bill was £143.00. Not including the tip! £70 per head with no drinks for lunch, outrages pricing. Then of course the server hands you the CC terminal expecting a tip of 20% or more.
Ham Yard should relook at its pricing. It’s not the place it once was, it’s nothing special menu wise given the choices available in the area.
Lovely setting and really great service. We decided to order from the a la carte menu in the end (they also have a very good value set menu available), and both the Linguine, clams, white wine, chilli ‘vongole’ and Roast ray wing, smoked bacon and samphire butter were delicious and generous portion size. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the menu and we were allowed to order the dessert from the set menu, which really pleased us. I noticed a lot of vegan/vegetarian options as well. The drinks are a on the pricey side. Our bottle of Sancerre was £55...
Service charge of 12.5% made it a hefty bill! Food was of a good quality but glad we had the Open Table voucher to spend as otherwise it would have been very expensive.
The setting is lovely, the service is great, the drinks are decent and the food is nice enough. I’ve eaten here a few times and the portions on the set menu are very small! You have to buy sides and desert or you’ll be hungry. They don’t offer bread at the start of the meal on set menu it seems but they used to so Im not sure if this is a change or a blip in the otherwise very good service.
The food is ok.. it’s well presented but nothing that special and the portions being so small the food is a little underwhelming, apart from the desserts which are very good. However, for just £20 for 2 courses with a large glass of wine one cannot complain! We added two side dishes and two desserts and with service it came to £68 which is pretty good for ok meal in a lovely setting with good service. However, if your going for the food, there are much better places for good deals on Open Table.
Amazing value on the set menu for such a nice hotel!
Very nice all around meal :-)
