We've been going to Hattie's regularly for several years now, and I'm not sure what they've changed since last summer, but it's not for the better. The food - which we used to RAVE about - was mostly just bland. Our waitress was very nice, but the feeling of being with southern family was definitely missing. The hush puppies - which we look forward to every year - had NO flavor. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and was very disappointed. Firstly, they're definitely taking some liberties in calling that piece of meat "steak". The coating was tasteless, and the mashed potatoes - which were runny to begin with - were drowning in sausage gravy, so I was left with a soupy mess. My husband was happy enough with his jambalaya and piece of fried chicken, but overall it was an extremely lackluster meal, and hugely disappointing for repeat customers. :(

The food items were generally quite good. One diner had the chicken fried steak and enjoyed his meal. Another diner ordered the Cobb salad which advertised coming with fried green tomatoes. There were none. The pimento cheese was lacking in flavor. The service was excellent and the food arrived promptly.

It was Mother’s Day so I understand delay in service but waiting an hour for food is unacceptable. The food was very dry with little to no flavor. It was severely overpriced, I ordered the waffle and every topping you asked for was an individual $3 each. The mock tails and I’m emphasizing mock bc it had no alcohol and was maybe 6-8 oz of drink for $10. When asked after waiting for 45-50 minutes asking when our food would be out we were given a dry “it’s busy so we’ll get it out when we can” was very frustrating. The bill for 2 people was (including tip) $82 which in my opinion is absolutely ridiculous. The only positive I will say is the environment, very New Orleans old school which I really enjoyed. I don’t ever write reviews like this because I understand what’s it’s like to work with customers but to be given attitude when asked for an ETA ,food being mediocre to then see a ridiculous bill is what I consider a bad experience. Definitely would not recommend
