Hudson House - Lovers Lane
Based on the rich culinary history of the Hudson Valley, Hudson House aims to pair that style of comfort food with the neighborhood vibe of the West Village in New York City.
Half price wine makes even better. The host recognized us and set in our favorite dining area. Great evening!
Hudson House continues to be consistently good. Happy they are doing well. This dinner, our scallops were superb, Tartar was good. The oysters left a lot to be desired, but we do live in Texas.
My family and I really enjoyed coming here for brunch last Sunday. I had two toddler boys with me and even though they were playing around a little too much between the booths, the staff were so kind and accommodating to us. We will definitely be back!
We love this place for brunch. The brunch cocktails are pretty fabulous, as is the food. I am crazy about the setting.
We had a great time.
Steak was flavorless. Everything else was outstanding. Real halibut cooked properly was delicious. Shrimp was wonderful. Considered stealing my grandsons cheeseburger it looked so good. He inhaled it which is not normal for him. Wife really liked her drink, some kind of Berry Betzy thing, fair dose of alcohol and fruit juice. Potatoes au gratin and Mac and Cheese melt in your mouth good. Service was well timed, enough to feel appreciated without being intrusive. Very good experience overall.
Great food, they need more staff servers. Fresh oysters.
This was my third visit. Took out of town guests who wanted to try it again. All three of us agreed that we didn't enjoy the meal. Our reason for going was a specific menu item that we learned had been changed. The Verde Sauce. We all tried the others and none of them were as delicious. The "good butter" wasn't good at all. The vinegar in it was super strong and the butter flavor lost. The peach cobbler dessert was really runny, very perfumey and soapy tasting with no cobbler top at all. The service was odd. The drinks and dessert took a very long time, the manager stopped by our table every time a new plate hit the table which was overkill and interruptive, our waiter was pushy about the menu insisting what we should order and how...especially the bottle of wine, when the guests only wanted a single glass. Then they cleared our plates when one guest was still eating and it all felt so rushed and disregarding others, yet there were times it was really slow. Just odd and hasn't been my experience at all the last two times. For a pricey seafood meal where you're not shouting at your dinner guests to be heard or being interrupted by "How is everything folks?!" before you really get to try it...I'm done. Go have a flight of oysters, a beverage and move on.
Always great food and great service!!
Cute place! Love the east coast vibe - being from NJ I appreciated the mirror signage. Brunch was good - under seasoned - but tasty. We will be back to try the oysters!
we were celebrating two birthdays that night
our server, Pierce, was excellent-he was very knowledgeable about the food and bar menu
Great seafood. We ordered the large seafood tower with lobster and it was delicious!
Nice atmosphere and excellent food ! Great seafood salad!
The Happy Hour is lots of fun! Half price oysters, burgers and martinis.
they should add fish and chips to the menu. I think it would round out the selection
Booths are extremely uncomfortable. Choose a table if you can!
Great food, good service
Great, feel good menu. Quality food prepared perfectly. Attentive, but not intrusive, servers. Nice management presence. Killer martinis.
Felt like a very clean over priced Long Island diner. Food was meh, prices were high and service was great!
Thank you for caring so much about our nut allergy. Your restaurant is top notch on every level of food, service and ambience, but our server, Katie, was really careful to make sure our dishes were but-free. It really makes a night out special for us when we don’t have to worry about a careless server or careless kitchen. Great job. We’ll be back soon.
Hudson house was perfect for a birthday dinner! The food was delicious, the environment was perfect, and the servers were attentive. Thanks, Hudson House, for making my birthday a special treat!
This place never fails us. Glad they opened a second location Addison
Great service, seated promptly and food was delicious
Very nice Saturday night spent at the Hudson House. My wife and I enjoyed the combination of oysters at the bar with a couple of glasses of wine. We finished off our evening at a table with a shared trio of other appetizers for our entrees. We enjoyed our evening even though it was a challenge to communicate due to the high noise level throughout the restaurant. We'll return for another time.
Booths are a little tight, but they accommodated us with a table and high chair, which was nice of them as it was a busy night (Saturday). Food and service were great and personnel were friendly and especially so with 15 month old grandson. Lively place, which was a little loud, but no so much so that it was aggravating. Prices are are on par with other establishments.
Enjoyed it and will be back.
Awesome bagel tower for brunch! So unique and satisfying. Always a good meal here.
parking is challenging at lunchtime!! service food is lovely and the setting is charming would probably recommend going to dinner because they have valet
Food and service were good. Only complaint is the definition of their menu items. My wife had a Caesar salad and what was served did not resemble the traditional Caesar . Tomatoes were used and not mention on menu plus iceberg lettuce which is not romaine. Sorry but if you use the term Caesar then it should be a Caesar salad
Love the food.
Shrimp cocktail was not peeled all the way, french chicken was not very good and my wife only ate half of it. Our waitress was hurried, think too many tables at 7:30. I asked for a taste of a pinot which she promptly brought and put in front of me, then ran off. I finally had to flag her down to tell her it was fine and ordered a bottle.
Good experience overall, but for a couple of things. First, when I booked the reservation on OpenTable, I was led to believe the booking included half-priced martinis and other drinks and some kind of burger special. Once we arrived for the 6pm reservation, I inquired and was told that ended at 6pm. Not a huge deal but misleading. Second, within 30 seconds of sitting down, the hostess knocked over a glass that broke at the foot of our table with glass shards peppering our ankles and feet. They responded quickly to clean up but was surprised the restaurant didn't offer a beer or something for the startling inconvenience. Not trying to bust their chops and overall the experience was good, but great hospitality begins with the little things...
As always, Hudson House is reliable. Nice variety to the menu, focused service.
Our server Jodi Morris was outstanding. The fish was awesome.
There were 5 of us and we made a reservation for 5 people. The evening started out a bit shakey, as the host placed us in a 4-top and placed a chair at the end in hopes we’d squeeze in. I immediately asked for something larger and he protested that their larger tables were for ‘large’ parties. And he was pretty rude about it. I looked around and spotted a somewhat larger booth and asked if we could be seated there. He reluctantly agreed. Meanwhile, the server for the original table started ‘selling’ me on the merits of staying in his section. Attention management! This is not how your people are supposed to act. We then ordered 15 oysters just before digging into the menu - in hopes we’d have something to nibble while waiting for our main meal. Then we waited, and waited, then ordered dinner, then waited, then waited and even after asking the server several times where our oysters were, we waited some more. Finally dinner arrived (still no oysters!) and then oysters came as the last entree was place on the table. The server was appropriately embarrassed and said something to her manager - good job! - and he came over, apologize and then took them off the bill. Well done Manager X! The oysters were fresh and bright - nice work. The Tuna Tower salad was delicious though odd to look at and eat. The lobster rolls were “just ok” according to our lobster aficionados and my son said he preferred my Tuna Tower to his seared Tuna sandwich. We also ordered a couple of key lime tarts/pies for dessert and they were excellent. So, would we go back - yes...but if service were to be uneven again, I’d likely go elsewhere. In truth, I want these guys to make it - as there literally in my neighborhood but I’d like them to retrain some of their staff and drop the attitude.
Ask for Barren. His service is great and if we’ve never been, he can point you in the right direction!
Great food. A little Loud.
Love Hudson House! Great place to see friends & neighbors!
Hudson House has become one of our favorite restaurants. We recommend it to everyone we talk to.
A little loud, but over all it was a great experience.
This was our second visit to Hudson House. We had a so-so experience the first time but decided to give it a second try.
We went on Valentine's day and had a 5:45 PM reservation, which made us among the first diners in the dining room, which has a very nice ambiance. Notably, this dining room--unlike so many--is not excessively noisy, so we really enjoyed being able to carry on a conversation without shouting at each other.
We were greeted instantly upon entering and seated promptly. The server came to the table immediately and asked if we would like to order cocktails, which we did (a glass of champagne for each of us). She was pleasant and polite throughout the meal.
Both my husband and I ordered the cold shrimp cocktail, which came out only a couple of minutes after our pre-champagne had arrived, so we didn't get to enjoy the champagne and cocktail time conversation since we felt more or less obliged to begin eating as soon as the food was presented. We were both shocked that $15 each bought only four good-sized shrimp with two sauces (for each serving), and the shrimp were a little tough.
We had not even half finished the shrimp cocktails when our entrees arrived at the table. Now we found ourselves forced to finish the appetizer course quickly lest our main courses should get cold in the meantime.
My husband had ordered the French chicken, which he liked, and I had the crab cake as my entree. Both were good but not notable.
We don't know whether the rushed-up service in a restaurant that was not yet even full was due to bad management of timing by our server and/or the kitchen. In any case, with run-of-the-mill food and prices on the high side, we felt that the value of the experience was not great since we had been manipulated (intentionally or not) to eat fast and get out.
We have decided not to return to this restaurant.
Great restaurant! Fun atmosphere, excellent service. Easy to talk with your table because the noise level is pretty average/low. Delicious food with a nice variety of healthy and indulge food. We asked to move to a booth when we first got there, and the restaurant was happy to oblige. Our waiter took the time to share with us that they have an awesome HH every day of the week, 4-6 PM half price oysters, martinis, and cheeseburgers. Will definitely be back for that!
