Hudson House - Lovers Lane
Based on the rich culinary history of the Hudson Valley, Hudson House aims to pair that style of comfort food with the neighborhood vibe of the West Village in New York City.
Everything we had was excellent. The oysters were spot on. The tuna tower was fresh and different than any other we’d ever had, and the old bay on the fries was a great touch! We can’t wait to return for happy hour
We are regulars or we were, but last night we had some friends with us, our server Baron was great, food was amazing like always, there was one thing, we had some wine and it was warm so we mention it to Baron and he was very accommodating, so we saw the manager pass by, Brandon, so we asked if he was the manager, he just answered yes, not can i help you or something, so we just told him about the wine, and he responded very rudely, and upset, he said well that’s how the owner likes it so you’ll have to take it up with him and walked away. We were in disbelief, he was so rude, so we will never be back, and will tell everybody how badly he behaved. We hope the owner does see this so he can know what kind of person manages he’s business.
We love Hudson House, but we were disappointed in this particular visit. I made a reservation through Open Table and indicated in the “notes” it was my husbands birthday. We got a table by the door and there was no mention of our occasion at all. We also felt rushed through our meal although we made a reservation early week. We’ve also found the Host/Hostesses to be a bit impatient and rude lately.
Great food let down by a poor check in experience (unfriendly host who made us feel as if he was doing us a favor). Waited over 45mins for a table despite having reservations.
An over-attentive server regaled us with stories which involved us spending almost as much time listening to him as the couple we were trying to catch up with.
Food was excellent (although my chicken was a clear rip off of the Cajun Chicken dish at Le Bilboquet).
It was a nice dinner but they squeezed five adults in a four top booth. It was very uncomfortable the entire meal to be bumping arms and feel like we were eating on top of each other. We are not large people either a 5’3 120 pound woman a skinny college guy and a medium sized man squeezed on one side of the booth. It made the meal not enjoyable.
Great place for seafood! The oysters are the best in town.
Great service and food.
Our table wasn’t ready at the time we reserved. We were in the restaurant for an hour. Waited 30 minutes for our table and ate in under 30 minutes because we ordered everything we wanted when we sat down. Last but not least, the point in going to Hudson house that night was to enjoy their oysters. By the time we got to order the waitress tells us they don’t have anymore. Really the whole experience put a damper on our evening plans.
Pricey for what it is - but overall a quality restaurant. Always very crowded. Great for Happy hour.
Great cocktails and great food!
It was just a bad day. We had heard good things about Hudson House so we got a 12:45 reservation and were seated 5 minutes early. We got our drink and oyster order quickly. Then 10 minutes later our lunch order was taken. 20 minutes later the half doz oysters came. After we had been there an hour, seeing a few couples who arrived well after we did finish eating and leave we asked if there was a problem with our order. When the food finally came the manager said our meal was comped. Problem was that it wasn’t worth waiting for
I am a regular at Hudson House. They happily gave me an 8:00 reservation for New Years Eve. I chose Hudson House because I enjoy it and it’s close to home. Well, I was constantly reminded that they closing at 9, on New Years eve?? They were quite obvious about wanting us to leave. Had they told me I’d have just a few minutes to scarf down my food, I wouldn’t have made an 8:00 reservation. Bad taste in mouth after this visit. Poor treatment for a $150 dinner bill.
The seafood we ordered was great, but the rest of the meal was not very good. Chicken and pasta were both very over cooked. Our waitress was very polite, but it took her a very long time to get our drinks and she completely forgot one of our appetizers. I don’t think I would go back to this restaurant.
Lunch today started w f
Was there for HH and loved how beautifully it was decorated for the holidays and knew that my mom would love it too, so we went for brunch. Food was delicious, ambience was great, restaurant personnel was great!
Relaxed atmosphere coupled with a small menu that covers the basics. Redfish was fantastic and so was the lobster roll. Overall good quality seafood and a decent price.
Super crowded. Super expensive. We had 6 people and were crammed into a booth. I asked for a larger table and was told curtly that 6 people can fit in the booth. Food was marginal. Service average. Spent way more than the value.
The Trout with the American Curry is fantastic. Also, the Onion Rings make a great appitizer.
Fantastic menu with a range of fresh, high-quality seafood (e.g. oysters, fresh catches and a lobster roll) as well as savory comfort food like the burger and mac n’ cheese.
Hudson House is our go to dining experience. I’ve had almost everything on the menu and it’s all top shelf. The Christmas decorations and vibe make the Lovers Lane location our favorite in and out of season. I’ve been to both locations. Hunter Pond dining creations and imaginative menus at Hudson House and East Hampton meet all of my dining craves. Well done.
Great as always!! The oyster selection and preparation were outstanding! The fries were on point. Food was excellent. Service was solid. Always love getting to go to Hudson House.
Tasty meal in a casual atmosphere. Mixed menu allows for a sandwich or plated meal. Lots of people waiting for seats, so I'm glad we had a reservation. The bar must be a draw, but it made the restaurant VERY noisy. Our waitress was great and we got our order quickly. Had to laugh at the 20something sisters sitting next to us who were instagramming a photo of their desserts - really!
Excellent food, superb service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Note: Lovers Lane location- there is no valet at lunch and parking is limited.
I took my brother and sister-in-Law for the
First time Monday night. I really enjoy this
Place. But when my brother order steak, the
server came back and said they were out of
steak. So he ordered the lobster. We settled
In with our appetizers, only to have the server come back and say they were out of lobster! He ended up ordering the chicken,
which he really didn’t want. I’ll never get him to go back, and it is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. They have to
Fix this problem.
We had an 8:30 reservation for 2 and sat in the bar beforehand. When we were called right at 8:30 for our table, we were taken back to the bar to sit at a low table that we couldn’t even look directly at one another. When I asked if we could have one of the open booths that sat 4, they host or manager said he had to save those for larger parties.
The appetizers were pretty good, but the wine menu wasn’t updated so what we ordered was not available anymore. Our entries were decent.
only problem here is that it is very loud ,the food , the service and particularly the Christmas decorations are great !
Great food and atmosphere, but service was a little rushed.
We ate hear befor going to the ballet at Christmas time and it was delightful! The Christmas decorations were perfect! We could not have had a better time...or better food!
Girls holiday dinner
Thank you Vincent for your outstanding service!
This place was great. The food was spot on and we definitely left satisfied.
Hudson House has become our favorite spot since moving to the Park Cities area. Great food, fast, friendly service makes it a neighborhood treasure.
Birthday lunch with my son. Great place and good food!!! Fantastic tequila martini also. The seafood was wonderful and so fresh. Highly recommend!
Such an inviting place! The Christmas decorations are beautiful! The food is yummy and reasonable. Highly recommend.
Super small piece of halibut for $33. Usually better but we love the restaurant
Second time to dine at this restaurant and enjoyed our meal this go round. Our party ordered brussels sprouts side listed on the menu only to be told the restaurant did not have them that evening. With limited other green vegetable option we had to resort to the green beans option which was just okay.
Perfect small table for 2. Oysters were delicious. Red snapper was fresh and cooked well. My date had the beef fillet and it was tender and tasty. Our server was really attentive; didn’t rush us and was knowledgeable about the entire menu.
Can’t wait to go back.
Hudson House is a great neighborhood restaurant with a comfortable vibe. It has a diverse variety of food dishes. Everyone loved the Avocado Dip and the Jack salad. The martinis were perfect! The prices are a bit high, for what you receive, but then I live in Houston and am spoiled by our numerous fresh seafood restaurants.
