The restaurant can seat up to 150 guests, all of whom will have full views of the iconic Hong Kong skyline and Victoria Harbour. With 360 degree views that wrap around the venue, Hutong has a maximum capacity of 200 persons standing.
The food at Hutong is always 5 star. The menu has changed a little since the last time I was there and I think I prefer the previous dishes a little more. At the beginning of the lunch, I requested the dishes to be less spicy than usual but was disappointed to find that they didn't take much notice as my friends really struggled with the level of spice.
I also found the staff serving rather cold and inattentive. For a restaurant that should be more aware of social distancing, we were seated next to a private section with a table of ten that included rather noisy kids. Would go again, but only for the food.
Awesome views of HK island, very good food, generous drinks, and even a show. We had a great time. I have been there twice already.
overall the food was great and the view is amazing. Maybe cause of the coronavirus the restaurant isn't as it used to be. but, it's all about politics. I'm sure most restaurants in Hong Kong face the same faith.
Big thanks as well to the reception team for informing us about the red lantern menu
We've tried the red lantern menu and it's affordable with all sorts of dishes in small quantities. The view is spectacular with the symphony of lights show! definitely will recommend this restaurant to my friends the next time we visit Hong Kong.
Outstanding, enjoyed the red lantern night brunch, great food, great service - will be back on the next visit to Hong Kong
Canceled our reservations without telling us.
Used to be spectacular but food was average. Service very rushed. Ordered at 8pm and all food served by 8.45pm. Waiting staff constantly hovering and taking empty plates the second you put your chopsticks down. They need training on high class restaurant service a d leavibg gyests to enjoy themselves. A disappointing evening.
Was shocked for a restaurant like this, the server had an attitude when interacting with the customers. With this price, there are many other options. Not again!
It could be that we went during this miserable Wuhan flu period but the ambience and service was quite disappointing compared to previous visits.
Food was standard, we really liked the soft shell crab and prawn dishes but the cocktails were pretty bad and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
The restaurant didn’t tell us Peking duck wasn’t available in advance which was fine, but at least they should offer an alternative.
It was a nice touch to have the chef teach people how to make sweet fried dumplings but I was a bit concerned as there were no gloves provided - only wet wipes. Given the current health situation I would have expected more emphasis on washing your hands or providing gloves especially since those dumplings are served to you afterwards...
Best brunch in Hong Kong! A must-do with out-of-town guests!
The food and service were not very good. The waiters didn’t tell you what any of the dishes were and seemed very disinterested. The food was mediocre at very best. Champagne and views are good.
An excellent menu, enjoyed by the whole family, with each dish efficiently served and well presented. The free flow drinks waiters were attentive, so our glasses were never empty for very long. The ambiance is lovely, and the initial welcome from front of house was friendly. The waiters themselves were either nervous or a bit grumpy, so there was not much warmth from them, but they kept the 18 courses moving.
Terrific view. Very patchy service- bored and not knowledgeable servers who just want you to get on with it. Food not that exciting- perhaps I was getting fazed with too much good Chinese food at the time i went there (coming from mainland China) but bar a couple of great dishes (egg w foie gras and caviar yum yum) the rest was from neutral to not good. An overhyped place where I went because of a friends' recommendation- not up to ANYTHING like a michelin star (which it apparently had). Wine list also very disappointing. Poor and rather unimaginative selection at unreasonable prices. Blah. Really blah. (But, nice view. And the faux antique feel wasnt too bad, if clearly ersatz.) I wouldnt return, but, not a fan of CHinese cuisine so....
We told our waiter multiple times about a sesame allergy and dishes had to be sent back. When the new dishes arrived sesame seeds were all over the dishes again so our guest did not feel safe to eat. We were disappointed - usually we love dining here.
A wonderfull experience! Fine food and amazing view over the harbor!
A little bit better than Mediocre , overpriced food with assembly line service.
Views and Ambiance are stunning and this is what Hutong thrives on.
Staff has no smile or friendly word nor trying to have a personelised service. Always had the feeling they are trying to get us out again as soon as possible.
Really nice experience
Staff are really nice, service is perfect, food is so great, and the little show is a big plus. Will definitely recommend this brunch.
You're paying for the view (through dirty windows). Excellent Chinese can be had much cheaper.
Outstanding restaurant. The Peking duck is a definite go to dish.
Ask for a table by the window so you can look over Victoria harbour. Having said this, all tables have a good view.
We also had the crispy beef dish and chicken fried rice. All delicious. We just wished we had more people dining so we could try more dishes! You won’t be disappointed
Highly recommended for a touristy experience. There's obviously tons of other more authentic and more value for money places in HK but for a first timer is a fantastic experience. View is out-of-this-world (like other reviews say the windows could definitely do with a wash but maybe that's out of their control? That's what I'd like to think.) service is nice, food although more expensive than usual is really really good (worth saying that I don't have a lot of experience with food in HK to compare) and the atmosphere is great. Extremely beautiful setting in the restaurant. So for a touristy experience definitely worth the money!
Excellent lunch set. Genuine Chinese (sichuan) food. Great view over Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island.
First thing that discouraged me was how dirty the windows were. This place is supposed to offer great view but we couldn’t see anything through the slime and dirt! The waiter was inattentive and seemed to hate his job! The lunch set menu looked interested but turned out to be very spicy and somewhat cold like it was all precooked! The only hot dish was the fried rice which was pretty good. Otherwise it was totally not up to the hype! Would definitely not return or recommend!
Dark ambience but great views of the city especially at night. Would definately recommend the lobster spring rolls and Kung Po pork.
We found the food was good but cannot justify the pricing. And we were very disappointed by the dirt on the windows, I invited my visitors in your restaurant because of the outstanding view and it is spoiled by the dirt. What a pity!
Very nice especially the view. It was unfortunately too loud and it is overpriced.
The windows could be cleaned! Extremely dirty, that‘s a pitty.
We have loved this restaurant n the past but this time the food was medicore and it all felt flat. Shame really!
One of the best restaurant in Hong Kong, the view is just stunning the food is amazing!
Incredible experience. Perfect unintrusive service. Fantastic food. Stunning g views. We’d ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing. Every course was delicious. Presentation was great. Wines were fabulous. Looking forward to returning to Hutong on our next HK trip.
Great view to Hong Kong, great design
The view of Hong Kong skyline and harbor is spectacular! Food is decent. If you want very good Chinese food, this is not the place. This is one of the best choice if you’re tourist or you want to impress overseas visitors.
Appetizers were not good. Mains were ok. Very cold in restaurant and very noisy
Unbeatable view. We recommend going for the duck pancakes. So tasty!
Amazing views. Food was very good (super spicy) but we over-ordered for five people, despite asking if we had.
Hutong is our favorite restaurant to take guests on their final night in Hong Kong. The decor is iconic Hong Kong, the food is consistently fabulous and the service is seamless. Our favorite dishes are the Peking Duck, the waghu dumplings, crab fried rice and mango sticky rice. Highly recommend for nice dinner out and special occasions.
Very Nice restaurant, good service and great view. Disappointed by the quality of some dishes like sezchuan chicken in particular : tasteless
