Excellent food, service friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.
Delicious food, fantastic service
High expectations were let down unfortunately.
Warm welcome but went downhill from there.
Food was very average & despite it being early 6.30pm and quiet - service was slow.
Only positives were a nice cocktail and nice wine options.
Food was really good and not too expensive. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not service oriented at all. We had to wait a very long time until we were served. Even after the dessert menu was brought, we had to wait very long until someone wanted to take the order. This was a pity!
Friendly place, attentive staff, good quality food at a decent price. Good vegetarian options as well very tender lamb rump. Excellent range of drinks. The evening we went was very busy (match at Murrayfield and the festival still on) but staff were keen to explain it was normally quieter. We'd eat there again.
Food was excellent and tasty, the service was a little slow . But it was the last day of the festival so Edinburgh was busy that night
Staff where friendly and helpful.
I would still recommend this place to people as the quality and size of portions was excellent
Really good service from super friendly staff. Couple of issues - too little bread/crackers for pate, waited a while for drinks. Starters better than mains. Overall a good experience given it was so busy on a festival weekend. Thank you
This was a very relaxed visit at a time when Edinburgh was at its most hectic during the festival. The staff made us very welcome and gave us time to settle down before taking our order. The food market menu was sufficiently varied to allow choice and was good value for money. The wine list contained a better than usual choice of single glass wines which were of good quality. We certainly wish to return on a future occasion.
Booked for lunch, they had been busy in the festival, food took a while but was absolutely first rate. Nice people, loved it. Will be back
The food was lovely but the service was very slow which slightly ruined it
Our visit to Ishka was a perfect example of how waiting staff can make or break an ambiance and therefore a dining experience. On arrival, our table was pointed out to us, we weren’t guided there. No one offered to take our coats, or to bring us water or a drink while we waited for our friend.
There were frequently four people behind the very small bar — it was always as if they were avoiding interaction with their clients!! The charming waitress was running rings around everyone else.
The food was thoughtful and well presented, and much of it was delicious. However, it didn’t always match the highly detailed menu description. If you say a dish is served with hassleback potatoes, then that is what people will expect. Likewise “artisan” bread.
Ishka is a beautifully decorated, well-located eaterie serving some lovely food. With improvements that would cost nothing, it could be a little gem.
Lovely evening with tasty food and a great bottle of wine.
Service was a little slow - the only thing preventing a better review. I'd go back.
Good food and service, great value for money. I have already recommended this restaurant to all my friends and family.
The chicken and pork were both fantastic!
Excellent service and cocktails. Some courses were delicious and others were nice.
Food and cocktails were fantastic! There was only two people working in the restaurant and bar and so they were very busy meaning service sometime was a little slow however they did brilliantly to rush our main course as we had to leave to go to a show. Bit of a delay getting drinks however when they arrived they were worth the wait!
Fabulous staff and ambience. The did did not disappoint and the menu had some very tasty surprises. Wonderful experience - thank you
The quality of the food, the service and price was exceptional
Very nice, service good
Very average food and slow service. Food arrived cold. Taste fair but not great. Getting a waiter was a challenge and took a lot of time to order.
Food was very good, service friendly, the only comment I would make is that the music did not match the ambience, although I didn't mind the choice of music. It was very quiet and quite surprised as it is located exactly across from EICC and during the fringe festival, thought it would be very busy - and so it should be, as the food was most excellent.
Found this little Gem by pure chance, lovely staff, really cool decor, food top class.
Everything was brilliant. Best lamb I've had in the UK. Cocktails were great and cheaper than expected.
Delicious food in smart surroundings. Pan European cuisine with a Scottish focus. Lovely local cheeseboard.
Excellent meal, attentive service, in a quiet, slightly out of the way location.
Nice relaxing space with a very good value lunch of 2 courses for £15.
Ishka was an absolute delight to visit. Food, service and ambience excellent. Good range of availability on menu to cater for all needs/tastes. Will definitely revisit.
Our server was attentive and friendly. He helped to make lunch a very pleasant occasion.
The food was delicious.
A warm welcome when coming through the door. The service was excellent and the food even better and reasonabley priced. The place itself is a very very nice place to be. Will definitely be going back. 10/10 👌
Great restaurant, good menu choice and food we ordered was fantastic. Service was great
Lovely very helpful waiter. Lovely restaurant really nice food, top end of the scale
Great location, fabulous food. Lovely staff, nice atmosphere. Just perfect!
We were vacationing and told by several locals that this is the place to go. It was...fine bordering on good. I don’t have anything negative to say but I’m certainly not overwhelmed by anything either. A bit pricey.
Absolutely darling place. Well crafted menu that was beautifully executed. A local chef owns the restaurant, and you can see the love and care she puts into all the items. I would absolutely visit again.
Surpassed all my expectations! Attentive service, really delicious food, great value for money and a cocktail list I could quite easily have sampled lots more of!!
I'll definitely be back. Thank you for a great dining experience.
Lovely place. Nice and relaxed. Good was delicious and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Very enjoyable meal
Ishka should be busier. We have been a Couple of times and it is quite quiet. The food is good with the chef trying to present inventive dishes. This is not always perfect but there is usually something outstanding on the plate.Really well presented and service is friendly and efficient
The restaurant was great, they only had 2 staff on but you could never have told. They were efficient, polite and the food was great as well and very fast too! The cocktails and cheese board were good as well!
Ishka is a hidden gem that if it were closer to town would be fully booked for weeks at a time. I'm actually reluctant to recommend it because I want to keep it to myself lol. The food is superb, the service is impeccable but what impressed us the most was the value for money. We had the market menu as the choices we made happened to be on it. I cannot recommend this sophisticated, elegant eatery more.
The waitress was very helpful and friendly. The food was good. I would definitely go again and reccomend it to my friends and family.
