   Food and service were excellent as always. I like that there is a tapioca dessert now. It was delicious! There’s only one thing I did not like: the containers for some food we took home. They’re very nice but all plastic. I’d expect something environmentally friendly from such a great restaurant.

   I have been to Le Colonial 4 times previously and had wonderful dining experiences. This was NOT the case last night. First, my friend and I were moved 3 times from our table. The first time we were seated at a table that was not ready, and we were moved. Then, we sat at a very wobbly table, and we were moved yet again. We finally ended up seated next to the door exiting onto the patio. The door was constantly opening and closing, so it was rather warm and uncomfortable, plus the noise level from the street was very bothersome. The commotion with the waiters coming in and out from the patio, did not create a good dining experience, at all. I will say the meal was superb, we were very pleased with every part of our meal. When the bill came, I requested the bill be split, one for my friend, and, of course, my own bill. I did not want the bill divided evenly between us because I did not want my friend to pay for my 3 martinis when she only had 1 cocktail, I had ordered more than her. The waiter, nor the general manager, could accommodate us, and actually, the general manager was rather curt with me. All they could do was split the bill evenly in half, which neither I, nor my friend, wanted to do. I eat out frequently, and I have never had a problem getting the bill divided. It cannot possibly be that much trouble for a restaurant to do this, to accommodate their patrons. Also, I was not able to properly tip my waiter because of this bill problem. With so many WONDERFUL restaurants in Houston, I will definitely think twice about returning to Le Colonial.

   Before I talk about the negatives of this place, I would like to say that the ambience and the service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and provided excellent service. Also, the dim lighting along with the elegant design was lovely. Now, let’s get into the actual food and pricing. Knowing that this was in the Galleria area, we were expecting it to be pricy. I never have an issue spending the money for something that’s worth it. However, this was not worth it at all. The food is showcased as gourmet Vietnamese food, but all it ended up being was overpriced Asian fare that really wasn’t authentic. For example, for “spicy shrimp stir fry” cost close to $30 and there were only 4 shrimp, the rest being onions and peppers. Furthermore, the drinks were close to $20 and were not made well at all and were also very small. If it wasn’t for our waiter, I believe the entire night would have been a waste. Over $200 for a few appetizers, 2 rounds of drinks, some noodles, and some rice. It’s an understatement to say we were disappointed.

   Service, food, and location were all excellent! Everyone was friendly. My only complaint is there are no Vietnamese dessert options. The closest option is a tapioca pudding which was delicious but for $15 for a small portion was, for me, not worth it. I will return very happily. The decor was original. No other place like this in Houston!

   This is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. Never disappoints. I was surprised to be greeted today by such an indifferent hostess. Is she capable of smiling? We definitely didn’t feel welcome until our friendly and knowledgeable waiter arrived.

    The appetizers went off on the right foot but sadly, the main food went down hill,. My friends curry had 2 shrimp and raw vegetables, my pho had 2 tiny pieces of meat, and my other friends pho was just a bowl of soup. This is my first time but I will not be back. I'd rather go somewhere that cares less apout the atmosphere and more about the food.. I'd recommend this place for a cocktail and a nice place to talk over appetizers

    Our meal was outstanding and Juan was superb! Ezra also graciously introduced himself and his assistance. We enjoyed the Baldol Cabernet and also met Gabriel Matta, who was very friendly and enjoyable! Le Colonial is one of our favorites in Houston! Thank you for a lovely evening!

    I received an email from their head chef recently. It reminded of me of how much I love this place. The food is amazing!! The hostess was pleasant. Service is fantastic and they have lunchtime valet. Was a great experience. Ten out of ten. Can't wait to return.

    I arrived on time at 5:15 pm for my reservation. I asked to sit inside because it was too hot outside and there were many open tables inside. But since I was single, I was asked to wait until the top floor opens at 5:30pm. I didn't mind waiting 15-20 minutes. I sat down at the bar and ordered a drink. However, after 30 minutes the barista told me that the top floor would be open at 6pm. Apparently the hostess advised me wrong. I asked why I couldn't I sit down at a table on the first floor, especially since they accommodated a couple who arrived much later than me and also booked a table upstairs. He said the tables are for 2 people(?!). I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for the table upstairs and ordered takeaway. I expected they at the very least wouldn't charge me for drink, but the manager was not there to make that decision. I was very disappointed with the service and general neglect as a guest.

    Le Colonial used to be my favorite restaurant. I’ve heard that Le Colonial has changed management recently and it is very evident. The food was disgusting, it was cold, no flavor— it was one of the worse experiences ever!

    What a great experience! Food, cocktails, service and ambiance were amazing. I had their version of a smokey old fashion which was nicely done, pork and shrimp roll- the best ever and finally the duck. The tea infused duck was moist with a great taste. Excessive portions, I had to take more than half home. Nice time I reserve a table in the dining or lotus room, the tables on the balcony were very small.

    A request was made for no hot spices in the food. The waiter said the kitchen would accommodate this with no problem. Both items came out very hot. My guest has had radiation treatment and hot spices are painful. The peanut sauce was very hot and the sauce on the beef lettuce wraps was very hot. This ruined what I hoped would be a wonderful dining experience at a beautiful restaurant.

    We were celebrating our anniversary and picked Le Colonial. The food - small plates, rolls and the dumplings were phenomenal. I think I can dine on small plates alone! For the main course we had the shaking beef and stir fried shrimp. Dessert was hot chocolate brownie with a scoop of ice cream. Service and ambiance was phenomenal

    The service was so terrible. We had to ask for a waiter to come over to order drinks. Then we had to ask someone to find him to order dinner and another round of drinks. Dinner was served without the second round of drinks, and we had to flag someone down to get them. After dinner, we told the waiter we didn’t want drinks, dessert or coffee. He didn’t come back with the check. We had to ask two different staff members for our check. When our waiter finally brought it, he almost left it on the table and walked away even though our four credit cards were sitting out. Nevertheless, the food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

    We order 4 dishes and it took them 45 minutes to serve the food. The food was delicious but … we waited a bit too long. There was a couple that walked in the restaurant with us that walked in, had dinner and walked out before our food was served. Disappointing!

    Le colonial blew my mind. I walked in with no expectations but left with a new favorite restaurant. The staff was pleasant and the inside decore/aesthetic is gorgeous. And the food!!! My boyfriend and i got the ribs, brussel sprouts, and chicken stir fry. I would come back for just the brussel sprouts alone. I cannot wait to go again and try different items on the menu.
