Opened in 2010 and relocated to its current location in 2014, Marlowe is a New American bistro located in San Francisco’s Soma neighborhood in the former COCO500 space.

Brought to you by Executive Chef Jennifer Puccio and award-winning San Francisco designer Ken Fulk, Marlowe focuses on classic comfort foods with flavorful twists, like Chef Puccio’s signature Marlowe Burger, seasonal poulet vert, brussels sprouts chips and quail egg topped steak tartare.

Taking inspiration from the butcher shops of the past, Marlowe is designed with a sleek but comfortable feel, featuring white subway tiles, white marble, deep blue banquettes, wood block tables and specials listed on rolls of butcher paper.

Everything was good, but quite salty. Music was on quite loud…more than necessary. I couldn’t hear people at my own table. For such a small spot with all the hard surface, the extra noise was not needed.

Great Evening! It started with the amazing out of the park service! From the hostess to the servers and bartenders we felt so welcome. We were celebrating a birthday,and they took excellent care of us! Thank you!!!! Not only did the drinks, and food taste amazing the fun we had was terrific. Had the scallops in risotto, and Ribeye steaks and hamburger, along with BEST oysters and brussel chips. Try the Blue Crab appetizer its like nothing I've every had. Thank you Marlowe!

Have loved eating here in the past, but this last dinner was less than stellar. Staff awkward in their approach all around from welcome, service and paying. Overcharged my credit card ($200), showed them at rest they did and I’m still trying to get it corrected. Food was really good, but wine pours were so small for price with bartender almost measuring the small amount. Weird vibe all the way around!

Great place! My first time there and will certainly go back. Really nice staff, local vibe, terrific food. A bit noisy but manageable. Also a bit pricey but such is life these days.

It was super busy so the host ended up serving us and she was very nice. It was a bit slow as they seemed to not have anticipated the needs even though we had a reservation. Food and drinks were good! It was a bit loud so if you have hearing issues it is not the best place to go.

Excellent food. I recommend the bone marrow, salmon crudo, and gambas shrimp apps. I requested a full order of the bone marrow instead of the marrow/tartare that was on their menu. Cannot get enough of the marrow! Mains our party enjoyed were the seared salmon, scallops and of course the famous Marlowe burger. Our server David really went out of his way to inform Abe accommodate us. Ninette at the bar plied us with fabulous service and delicious oysters. I cannot stress enough how fresh Marlowe’s oysters are and highly recommend starting with those before diving deeper into the menu. Finally, this is my go to spot when I am in town and want to entertain (and impress) local friends. Great vibe and wonderful service all around. I have never been less than 100% impressed with the full experience.

Good food but strange service. We ordered a side dish that never showed up. A glass of red wine was ordered and served ice cold. The scallops, chicken and steak were delicious but not sure I'd return.

The service menu is somewhat limited, but the food served is fresh and very good. The full bar service compliments the food nicely. It's a great place to bring out of town visitors to dine as Marlowe is a good reflection of what fine dining in San Francisco is all about.

We had a reservation for a Wednesday lunch for four people. Restaurant was completely full, noise level over the top. Apparently everyone had arrived at once and it was pretty stressful for the Wait staff. They were super friendly and doing all that they could to get drinks and apps to us ASAP. Food was delicious! We shared brussels sprout chips. Individual orders were hamburgers with fries, which were delicious, Barada, heirloom, tomato salad, and a fried chicken sandwich. All the food was top-notch. Friendly welcoming fun atmosphere.

I've eaten here several times, usually for brunch, and I often recommend it friends and visitors for a nice, easy, and comfy meal. Only two [minor] notes on this visit. 1) The shrimp we ordered as a starter were just a little past done. 2) They served the starters and the mains at the same time. We had space at the table because we were three at a table for four, but otherwise it would have been tight. And obviously, we didn't get to enjoy the courses in sequence. It seemed extra odd, because the restaurant didn't appear to be overly busy at the time. Other than that, the food and service were really good, as per usual. I particularly enjoyed the heat in my bloody Mary cocktail, but caveat emptor.

I've been here for dinner before and had an excellent time but the service during lunch was just not up to par. We sat for 30 minutes before giving our drink order. While my chicken sandwich was delicious, I did spot a small worm in the lettuce. I understand that this might be expected since "the lettuce is organic" but that + the slow service was enough to dissuade me from returning. :(

Service was good, food was ok. 25 dollar burger was just ok. Cold bacon! Fries 9 dollars had a little herb on them just ok. They were also frozen French fries, for that price I would expect fresh cut or more unique seasoning.

Our dinner experience at Marlowe's was wonderful. We sat at the bar and Nanette took care of us and made the dinner complete! We had the Gougeres for appetizer which were awesome! For dinner we had the chicken and scallops along with a side of their amazing polenta. And we finished the evening with a wonderful ice cream dessert. And of course, the cocktails Nanette made were perfect! We love Marlowe's and will most definitely return often!

it has been many years since i was last at marlowe after moving out of SF but i think it got even better with time. the food was delicious (i'm still dreaming of the super crispy fries, they're a can't-miss item) and there wasn't anything my whole family & me didn't enjoy to the fullest from the beverages to the meals. highly recommend, i already can't wait until i have a chance to go again (hopefully, soon!)

Food was amazing, some drinks were a miss (their spicy cocktail is un-drinkable, throat closing heat) and some were a win. BUT the service, omg can’t be slower.. our courses took forever, 30+min wait time between courses. But besides she slow, sloooooooww service it was a great dinner. Just don’t go there when you don’t have time to hang for a long time.
