Mastro's Ocean Club - Boston
Service was excellent. Food was delicious. The cake, however, was found to be very distasteful by all 8 of us. Very surprising they’d serve a birthday cake that’s way below their standards and our expectations.
Wonderful experience! From the hostesses, bus women and men, and our waiter they were all amazing! The restaurant actually paid attention that it was my boyfriends birthday which most restaurants do not when I write something when making the reservation. They gave him a birthday card and even wrote his name on the dessert. The food was amazing and our waiter was so helpful in making our food choices. Overall fantastic experience over all! Would definitely recommend!
In the tradition of Mastro's it did not disappoint. The food is delicious, portions are generous and service is impeccable. On the down side it is quite pricey and can be very noisy, especially when there is live music. Some find that energizing but other prefer quiet relaxation. It is undoubtedly a welcome addition to the growing repertoire of local restaurants.
From the moment one enters the special treatment begins
No waiting for eye contact, the people will greet you immediately
The food was outstanding and everything was hot....I mean hot.....perfect !!
Waitress was attentive while at the table and away
I will return again for sure
Bar is a good place to get primed for dinner but get there early or you’re jockeying for seats.
I opted for a NY Strip and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly. A dot of truffle butter didn’t hurt.
Wines are ok and reasonable albeit I’m not sure of the depth of the inventory.
The ambience is what you’re expect in a busy place and the volume increased exponentially after 7:00.
Amazing night at Mastros as always. Can’t say enough about this Boston gem. Have been to most of their stores but love the Boston location because the people there continue to show how much they truly appreciate you being with them. Thank you Tutu, Yenni, Mark, and Jason for a special birthday celebration. Can’t wait to see you all again soon.
The Maitre D at the front desk was not very customer savvy. I arrived early just to get parking and my business associate has not arrived yet. I was told to go to the bar but the bar was entire full at the time. I went back to ask if I could be seated since the entire restaurant was almost empty at 5:50PM but was not allowed to be seated. Another party arrived after me and the lady at the “desk/stand” ignored that I was already in front of her and addressed the people behind me.
I admit I wasn’t dressed as business as the other customers behind me but I was off work, a C-suite executive by day, I should not be judged based on a more casual attire and not as “affluent” as the clients looked behind me.
I feel that you should treat everyone equally and that I am there first in line, I should not be overlooked. You can’t judge a book by the cover and I am not sure I can recommend anyone to come to your restaurant if that’s how you judge your clientele. A bit of customer service training is expected in the future. It was disappointing service experience at best. (The steak was great though!)
Everything was perfect for my Buddies 30th birthday
Mastro’s does it right! The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is excellent and the service is outstanding. Val was our waiter and couldn’t have been more accommodating and nice. I highly recommend but be ready to open those purse strings!
This was an excellent choice to celebrate my Mom's birthday. We had an excellent waiter and the food
was delicious! I highly recommend Mastro's Ocean Club!
Went for New Years Eve and it was a blast. Very festive, staff was awesome, very well run for such a busy hectic night. Def worth going for any occasion, especially New Years!
We really enjoyed our meal and service. Great venue.
Amazing dinner and experience!!
Took friends there to celebrate their engagement and the staff was just amazing! The complimentary desserts were a kind gesture and our waitress was very attentive. I've been to Mastro's quite a few times for different occasions and the noise levels have been different depending on day of the week and time, so if that's important to you, a Sunday or early Weekday evening would probably be best. I also LOVE the band that's always there, they're so good that everyone always thinks it's just a playlist or something until it's pointed out. A bit one the pricier end but absolutely worth it.
Food was amazing. Service was excellent. Drinks came immediately and food shortly after. Staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable
This place never disappoints us. One of the best restaurants I go to.
Service was outstanding and the view was beautiful. Food was good, not great and very expensive. I had the tuna entree and it was tasteless. (maybe not completely fresh?) Everyone else had steak and lamb and they were happy. We had a few hiccups at the beginning, the menus had empty pages with no food listings, no napkins or place settings, etc. Our waiter was wonderful though and got it all working pretty quickly. Overall, a lovely, very expensive evening.
I like nice restaurants but this one is super expensive
Food was not good. Cocktail sauce watery, steak burned beyond repair, very salty, salad could have been from a local school cafeteria. Service was terrific, sweet, witty staff.
Mastro uses fresh local ingredients to craft an electic menu sure to please every dinner. Atmosphere is polished but can get lively and louder at times. Craft cocktails are creative and ample.
Our dining experience was fantastic. We were there for Christmas dinner and everything was delicious. We had a terrific waitress who knew the menu and was attentive but not overly. You could tell she cared. My husband and I shared Oysters Rockefeller - were yummy. I had the tuna entree and my husband had crab legs. Both totally enjoyed them. Definitely a top restaurant in Boston.
Food was amazing, really nice place, great water view and creative cocktails. However:
We arrived about 45 min before our reservation to have a drink at the bar and chill for a bit. The bar is rather small and there's not a lot of place to stand and have a drink. It took me over 25 minutes to get 2 drinks and it wasn't crowded. By the time I had the drinks, our table was ready (15 min before scheduled, and that's great most times!), so I basically got the drinks, turned around and the hostess was ready to seat us. The hostess was very nice and even changed our table as we were too close to the bar area. Hostess, bartender, waiter - all very nice. After all this, we had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner, with great food and dessert.
So all in all, I recommend this place, but to the restaurant owners: if you want to run a high-end place with $30 cocktails you need to step up your game.
Tomas, the Assistant GM was amazing, so warm, and funny. And who knew, he can sing!! He joined a couple of songs and was great, "The Boss" Xmas song was a hit!! The performers were terrific and the food was amazing as always!!
From the moment we arrived we were treated amazing. The staff is so well trained and treats every guest beautifully . This is my new favorite restaurant in city .
The food was unbelievably delicious . The steaks were beyond perfect and the choice of sides amazing
The gnocchi was best I've ever tasted
And the deserts are so delicious
The food was outstanding. The scenery spectacular. The service was a big zero. IT should have been a big red flag when the other server in our section came over to introduce himself and to start the evening because when our server finally arrive it continued downhill. The epitome of it all was seeing her seated at the table of another patron. If it wasn’t for the ancillary staff that needed to be tipped out, there wouldn’t have been one. It’s too bad. It’s highly unlikely that I will return. There are too many other great restaurants at this price point who know how to deliver impeccable service.
We were extremely disappointed in our meal as Mastros. This was a holiday celebration for 4 of us, and the first time out for a fine dining meal since having a baby 3 months ago. The service was horrible - water was not refilled the entire meal, our table was directly outside of the kitchen door (which there should never be a table there), and thought that the large platters were going to crash on my head the entire evening. At one point a waiter even tapped my shoulder and said “there will be crashing plates behind you.” One of the people on our group ordered a seltzer water 3 different times over the course of a half hour and was never brought to the table until we asked with a little less patience. Please note they also charge $5 per seltzer which is an insult, especially after waiting that long. Toward the end of our meal, one of the gentleman in our group used the restroom, only to find all of the men staff changing out and open in the bathroom (and it was only 11pm). He said not only was it tacky, but he couldn’t get in to use any space in the bathroom and walked out. Our group is one to enjoy fine dining, and was seen in the $800+ bill. It was an extreme shame to feel as though we walked out not enjoying ourselves, receiving extremely poor service, and didn’t have the experience that is deserved in that type of dining occasion. I would love to be able to say that I would recommend this restaurant to others, and/or would go back, but don’t know that I will be able to. For a special occasion it was just an extreme disappointment. I hope that they can do something to improve so others don’t have this experience.
The front of the house is well managed by maitre'd Tutu!
The main dining room is beautifully set with the harbor providing a perfect nautical background for an "ocean club".
A great experience for you and your guests assured because of the overall commitment to customer service. This extends to the intimate bar - favored by many regulars. I was brought to this area by Tutu who introduced me to the servers there ... virtually guaranteeing a favorable result. As busy as this area was the staff still did a great job checking in and timing food and beverage selections mixed with warm conversation. At the end of evening, Tutu paid another visit to ask about my evening ... do I even need to mention great steaks, seafood, mixed drinks and wine list ...
Great food and plenty of it. Beautiful restaurant on the water. Excellent service. Top dollar prices and loud.
Excellent! Great food, great service
Business dinner holiday celebration. Noisy, service was slow and while our server was very helpful and focused when interacting with us overall not aware of the pace of meal. My lemon sole was over cooked and dry. Side of lemon caper sauce was anemic. Presentation of my plate looked like it was dumped on the plate. Wine was good along with the drinks.
Everything was excellent but I could. It hear myself think in there! It’s not a quiet gathering place.
Grab the Hudson Baby Bourbon before it’s gone!
High quality food (we had Sea Bass and fillets prepared medium rare), solid execution and great service. Save room for dessert and try the butter cake! Highly Recommended for business dinner or special occasions.
This was by far the best overall experience I’ve had at a Boston restaurant so far. From the moment you walk in the staff goes far above and beyond. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better night!
A Christmas dinner, planned and reserved months ago.
Reservations at 8:30, didn’t sit until after 9.
A group of 7, basically sat around a card table which was unstable and uncomfortable. Overpriced for the experience. Extremely disappointing.
Too loud and unfortunately meal was average at best for the second time in a row.
We felt rushed the server was overzealous, made recommendations without any requests. We requested time between apps and dinner, he assured us he hadn’t even put the order in yet the showed up literally right after he left the table.
I have had three dinners there and although the food is great two of the three visits we experienced subpar service.
Our waiter john was great!!!
Consistently one of the best steak restaurants. Have eaten in every steak house in Boston and Mastros ranks in the top.
Overpriced, food was not worth the prices. Service is very good. Overall, it is not worth it.
