I've been coming here for a long time from working at the pentagon and happy hour. Yesterday was the 1st time I've experienced horrible service. The waiter was great but it took the kitchen 1.5 hours to make 3 pizzas and a salad. Drinks were great... but overall the ambience of Matchbox seems a little more rowdy now...something is not the same as it was, I'm curious if new management is running the show. I'll try one more time later next month...but if it's the same, it'd be my last for sure.

It had been few years since we had visited any Matchbox. Though it never wows, it consistently turns out decent food at a fair price. Our server was friendly and attentive. Though you can find better pizza in the area, the Fire and Smoke pizza is still a winner (good flavors and a decent amount of heat). And while the sliders were a little dry, they’re a perfect share plate and quench the burger-crave. Bottom line: worth a visit while at PC, especially if you’re not up for the food court.

We were a party of two and ordered (1) a bottle of wine (2) and appetizer and (3) a pizza. We waited a really long time with nothing being delivered to the table. I flagged down our waiter who stated that the bottle of wine would be out shortly. After another lengthy wait, all three items were brought to the table at the same time by two members of the staff. The wine bottle was set on the table, unopened. I asked our waiter if we were supposed to open and pour our own wine and he just walked away. Fortunately, the wine was a screw cap so I was able to open and pour it for ourselves since clearly the waiter was not going to do his job. The food was fine but the service was not.

Really solid american fare. Great pizza and burgers. Good for larger groups. Everyone in our group of 10 was very satisfied with food: pizza, burgers, chicken sandwich, apple pear salad, bbq ribs, and tuna poke bowl! All excellent, and everyone happy, even the hard to please ones! Something for everyone on the menu, and service was prompt and courteous. I would highly recommend.

They also seemed to be out of a lot if drink ingredients even though these are standard drinks that are on the menu. They also advertise mocktails but yad none available. The booth that my group was sitting in was beyond destroyed but it wasn’t about the booth at all. I don’t know if the server was having a bad day but he was not very pleasant 95% of the time. He kept walking past our table, didn’t explain the menu to us at all. I don’t know if it was because we were a group of seven, or if he didn’t think he was going to be tipped well due to our diversified group, but he was just flat out rude. 5 out of the 7 people with me, including myself, were managers of other restaurant businesses and all in all, not impressed. My other friend and I had came there before and it was awesome! The service and everything. This time was a bust and my friends and I were very displeased. I won’t say the service was great but the food was really good. I hope that everything gets better for him. My friends and I will not come back for brunch or probably ever to this particular location.

Wow - We really enjoyed our relaxing evening at this matchbox location while in the D.C. area for some work and play. The pizza was fantastic, the miso Salmon was 'off the hook' and our waiter was just enjoyable as all get out. the wine selection was great and very affordable (so very much appreciated in this area!!) Our 8 year old daughter loved the place and the food as well! Thanks for being trendy and delicious!

Good food but not a great experience overall: 1) I’d booked a reservation in advance and when I arrived I asked to sit outside. The host/hostess told me it would be a 20 min wait. The other guests in my party hadn’t arrived yet so I said I’d wait since I was early. Once they arrived, we asked to sit outside again and were again told it would still be 15-20 mins. We said we’d wait at the bar. Only then did they finally agree to seat us outside only to find that there were probably 8 open tables in the outdoor area. I think they just didn’t want to have to have to service the outdoor tables and hoped we’d wave off with the false wait time. 2) 2 of 3 guests in my party ordered the bottomless mimosas ($25 per person). All 3 of us ordered an entree to eat and an appetizer to share. It took probably 25 minutes for us to get our first drink. The individual who did not order a drink had to leave early so we asked for our check and settled up so that she could depart. The two of us who had paid for bottomless mimosas requested another round and were denied because we’d already checked out. Even after our waitress consulted the manager, they did not allow us another drink. Very poor customer service in my opinion. This was my first visit to Matchbox and I will be less inclined to dine here again as a result.

Reservations for a birthday since Monday.. we arrived Saturday night and they attempted to give us a corner booth that would of been uncomfortable. Had to ask for another area we got the high tops which was fine but the waiter and management were not happy and they were upset that they had a group of 7 adults Soto g there. They actually were speaking about us and we could see and hear that they were upset. Very unprofessional. Took them over 20 minutes to bring us a soda. Some of the food was forgotten or never put in. Unfortunate because I heard good things and this wasn’t the birthday experience I wanted to give my husband. We flew from seattle to celebrate with his family and we got a lackluster waiter and rude service.

The menu has changed from brunch bundle where you ate all you wanted during that time. The waitress was really inexperience and didn't really provide great service. She didn't bring any utensils until we asked, and the water was awful and tasted like faucet water. The elevator was broke and being a disabled veteran it was a struggle going up the stairs. There were issues with the billing part and the waitress didn't provide the best options. I ask for military discount and/or use my $10 Matchbox credit, she was confused that I couldn't use both. When I ask for a manager, the waitress said he was in a meeting. I was there upon opening and he/she never came to see what I wanted.

I went to matchbox with my friend for a chill brunch & it was pretty good. We got the all star breakfast, which was decent. We went about 12:30 & it wasn’t packed at all. Our server didn’t speak good English so it was a little difficult to communicate but other than that, it was a 7/10.

Have been to Matchbox in Merrifield and was woefully disappointed in Pentagon City. First, had a reservation and was put in the corner by the mall exit and pizza counter, not so romantic for my valentine. They ran out of the steak frites and didn’t tell us until after our appetizer was delivered. NO comp of anything, just sorry…pick something else. Appetizer was firecracker shrimp…was super greasy and soft, not crunchy. My food, chicken and waffles, showed up about 10min before my wife’s crab cake sandwich. My chicken and waffles had clearly been sitting out and waffles were cold, chicken was 3 little tiny strips, and by tiny, I mean about the size of my pointer finger. We asked the server and she said that was normal…seriously, $20 for that? maybe $8 on a good day, but so sad and a complete rip off. My wife’s crab cake was made with what seemed to be frozen or old crab, it was very fishy, bland and full of shell pieces. At least our pizza was good. We paid and got out of there quickly…just poor food and all of that for $100….not even close to worth the price. We will try Merrifield location again, hopefully it will be better next time we venture out.

The food was amazing I took my lady for valentine's dinner the chicken alfredo was made perfect the old bay chicken wings were also on point. The flat iron steak was also pretty good. I will be definitely going back in the future.

I had a horrible experience and I’ve been to the location many times. We sat upstairs and tables who arrived 30 plus minutes after us got their food before us. Because I am a server/bartender myself I am pretty chill when I go out to eat. My appetizer burger sliders took 50 minutes to arrive. My drinks 20+I would have gotten another round of drinks if my server came back. She realized after the 45 minute mark that our food still was not out and said she would check. But never came back until I asked the manager. The manager, did nothing for my bill. His reasoning for the sliders taking so long was because they ran out and the chef had to hand make smaller patties. He looked like he was scared to talk to us. And offered no compensation. Because I work in the industry I don’t usually complain. But my experience was sub par at best and it needs to be addressed. I ordered my drink at 7:00 it came at 7:20. My friend ordered her drink at 7:15 it came at 7:45. We ordered our food at 7:20( just burger sliders) it came at 8:10. At the 15 minute mark someone should have said something. I couldn’t say anything to anyone because the manager was busy taking the christmas decorations down. He actually started when I ordered and finished before I got my food. When my food arrived we didnt have share plates and I used my napkin as a plate. My server could have done better. But she left us for at least 25 min before I even saw her. She had two other tables in her section. I understand the bar is downstairs, but it was 7:00 and the upstairs had about 5 tables.

New Years Eve was great there. There was a live DJ that made it festive and energetic. Service was great. Food was great. Manager was great about coming around, introducing himself and made sure everyone was taken care of.
