    We had to ask the server twice for multiple items, as if we didn't even ask. Plus, I order the chicken and waffles. The waffles were dry, and although the chicken was fresh and hot, it had NO flavor. The worst chicken and waffles, together or separately, that I have ever had. Perhaps because it was early Sunday morning, but should that really make a difference?

    I usually enjoy Matchbox, but this location has a lot of issues to work out. First off, the hostess kept saying we didn’t have a reservation but it was okay because there was plenty of seating. I insisted we did but she kept saying she looked and we didn’t. I finally pulled out my open table confirmation email and this time she actually looked at her iPad and said “oh yea, there it is” in an annoyed manner. We sat there for 30 minutes without anyone coming to take our drink order or food order. We finally flagged someone down (I think his name was Jose) who was very sweet and apologetic. He said he would get someone. I believe he tried to get someone but nobody would come. After checking on us 3 more times he finally said he didn’t know what was going on with the wait staff and he finally took our drink and food order himself. We were starving by the time the food finally arrived and I am sorry to say it wasn’t very good. The pizzas tasted weird and were way too salty (but had no other real flavor). The table bread was hard as a rock and the Caesar salad had no dressing on it. We just wanted to get out of there at that point. The sad thing is this was the first time I took my friend there and she was very unimpressed and said she would never return. I get that restaurants have off or slow nights, but there was no excuse for how bad the service was especially when the place was nearly empty. Very disappointed and likely won’t return to this location even though I live right near it.

    The food was excellent as usual. Our server, Jose G, provided superior service--attentive, friendly, patient yet very efficient. The hosts are also very pleasant and accommodating whenever our family dines at Matchbox.

    Is there anything worse than making a reservation via OpenTable just to find the restaurant gives you the worst possible seat in the restaurant? That was our experience with Matchbox. We asked to sit outside, but were told it's first-come-first-served, so even if you make a reservation days or weeks in advance, if you'd like to sit on the patio you need to arrive at least 30 mins prior to your reservation. They will literally give the nicest tables to people who just walk. Not being able to sit outside is one thing, but we were seated, not in the restaurant, which had plenty of open tables, but the dark and gloomy bar area -- with our young kids no less! There are much better places on the Pike that won't penalize you for using OpenTable like Matchbox does.

    We eat here 2 -4 times a month. We enjoy the Margherita Pizza and the Mini Burgers. Service and food is always good- that is why we enjoy coming back.

    Pleasant lunch spot, large portion of tasty and fresh fried chicken Cobb Salad - take-home box gave us a side salad at dinner. My friend had very specific food prep requirements, which were gracefully and fully met.

    There were six of us-- my husband, brother and sister-in-law took my 79 year-old father and his wife out for his birthday at lunchtime. We had hoped to dine outside on the patio which looked amazing, but it was very hot and humid so we ate indoors. The cinnamon buns we ordered for appetizers (2 orders) were way overpriced at $9 each and not as good as Cinnabons. Most of us were happy with our meal choices but the Cobb Salad had very few pieces of chicken for $20 and the crabcake was not very good at all. Our server was very friendly and nice, but did forget to bring extra dressing as requested. Overall, it was a very enjoyable and tasty dining experience and the price was reasonable for the 6 of us.

    It was a great dining experience start to finish. Each course (appetizer, entree, dessert) came promptly, the food was good and the waiter checked in regularly. It was a nice meal after a night at the theater.

    We reserved 4 tables for a total of 29 people. We greatly enjoyed the dinner and the conversation at this restaurant. The hotel setting is very pleasant and the noice level is low. Definitely will come back again.

    The experience was really good. The pizzas were really good, and the service was great. But -- the plates we had initially been given hadn't been washed well. The manager came over to apologize -- which was appreciated, but taking something off the bill would have been a nice gesture.

    When the manager comes to the table and apologizes for the pizza being a little more burnt than usual (and it really wasn't even that bad!) and offers to make you a new one or take it off the bill, you know that the restaurant has very high standards. The wait staff was super attentive with drink refills, etc. and the food was excellent. This is one of the best pizza places around.

    Pathetic. From the cooks to the servers the the managers. Pretty bad experience when they screw up a plain cheese burgers 4 times. And then had to argue with the manager to take them off the bill. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

    The staff seemed a bit discombobulated. They tried hard. Initial service was slow, but the rest of the evening and food were great. It would be nice if they could do something about the mosquitoes, as we sat outside. I will be back. The chicken pesto pizza is my favorite and always delicious. My children enjoyed their food too. I tasted my son's burger. Soooo good.

    The restaurant was crowded and understaffed for the number of people. Wait staff made mistakes in bringing the wrong food to some of us. A huge group of boisterous children and their inattentive parents were seated near to us, and the noise level was unbearable. We left without ordering desserts just to get away, and had our bills brought to the entrance, where we paid them. We will never go back at dinner time.

    Seems like this Matchbox location hasn't recovered from the pandemic. Service used to be excellent, but we've had indifferent service the last few times we've been there. Dishes arrive out of sync, inexperienced wait staff, long waits after seating before a server stops by, etc. Matchbox always used to be jammed on weekends, but the dining room has been mostly empty when we've gone (the outdoor seating area fills up, though). They've raised their prices quite a bit, making the cost of eating here out of line with the lower quality of service. This place used to be a frequent go-to for us. Now, we only consider it if we're in the area.

    We love Matchbox! We eat here 2-3 times a month. Our go to’s are the mini burgers and the margarita pizza. The onion rings are to die for-so thin and delicious-these come with the mini burgers. The service is always attentive and the food tastes delicious. We have been coming here for 10 years. We enjoy it.

    The chicken fettuccine was just ok. The pizza was good as usual. The cocktails my daughter and I had were not great. Too much syrup and the tequila was lacking and I asked for a double shot of tequila. The cocktail tasted like kool-aid. The service was good. No complaints on that part.

    We are regulars at this neighborhood place. We really enjoyed the outdoor seating; I was earl for my reservation and my wife was late, but the wait staff was very accommodating and had a drink and appetizer ready for my wife when she arrived. Lovely evening.

    In most pizza bistros, the pizza is the star. Not here. You’re better off with a burger (especially the sliders) or the chicken sandwich. The deviled egg spread really elevates the sandwich. Ask for it Nashville hot for an added kick. The salmon in the salmon salad was over cooked, tough and chewy. The pizza was ordinary. The doughnuts, which were more like beignets, were the highlight of our visit.
