First time here, we ordered the octopus, lamb chops, and tenderloin. Octopus came out extremely burnt, wish I could show the picture! Very disappointing since this is their signature dish. The rest of our food was good, especially the desserts. Our service was very slow, seemed to just be our server though, as we noticed other tables that came in after us getting drinks before us. Probably wouldn't go back other than to get desserts and drinks.

While the apps and drinks were very good, the main courses were lacking. Very dry paella - almost burnt. The octopus appetizer, while good, was burnt in places. Service was okay - took a while to get drinks - was told it was because the bar was backed up. Anticipated a lot from reviews, but didn't live up to what I expected. Would I recommend to a friend. Maybe. View was beautiful, drinks were good and as I said appetizers, besides the octopus were really good. Maybe I'd recommend for drinks and apps?

First time i was not satisfied. I reserved a corner table in the main floor since it’s a double birthday celebration. The host placed us in the 3 rd level and when i asked to transfer us to the corner table another host took it. There was no birthday signs. We missed Adam.

This was my third time eating at MDRD. Overall everything was stellar, as usual. The table, one in a nook on the stairs, was semi-private with a wonderful view. Shirley, our waitress (who I’ve had before) was perfectly attentive and did a great job with the menu and wine suggestions. Most of the food was very good, although I think their new “gambas al ajillo” should be renamed. It was nothing like gambas al ajillo - it is three prawns in some kind of creamy sauce. Very disappointing. The paella was OK, but I wouldn’t order it again. Not quite close enough to an authentic paella to make it worth the price. Otherwise the evening was perfect and I would highly recommend MDRD for anyone looking for a special culinary treat in Grand Rapids.

A great place for a special occasion. We felt so welcome as everyone greeted us with “happy anniversary.” We sat at a table with a panoramic view of the city. The service was warm and informative. We had time and space to enjoy an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The salmon puff pastry was delicate and delicious, served inventively on a dish kept warm with heated stones. The chocolate mousse tree-themed dessert was whimsical and fun to eat. Thank you for a memorable evening.

Beautiful restaurant with awesome service. Expect to pay a lot! Go into it with a $200 budget to enjoy the whole experience. Worth it!

This was my first time dining here, and I have been looking forward to it for a long time. It did not disappoint my server. Tonia was very knowledgeable and steered me to some wonderful offerings. plus she was just a delight! I really have no words for the food and the creativity and all of the dishes was on point. Each dish was very thoughtful in the combination of flavors and everything from the drink to the dessert was amazing. And that dessert, I have never seen anything like it. It was beautiful and it was the perfect ending to my meal, absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

My husband and I were entertaining an out-of-town relative prior to attending an event at DeVos Performance Hall, and everything about the evening was perfect! We received excellent food recommendations from our server, were seated at an extraordinary table in the corner with views in every direction, and enjoyed delicious tapas, dessert and wine together. I especially appreciate the opportunity to make reservations in advance and will happily pay a refundable deposit if it ensures the kind of experience we enjoyed. It was a special and memorable dining experience and we will definitely return!

Food and drinks were fantastic and the service is unmatched. Luke was so helpful providing menu recommendations and made sure we had a great experience! The ambiance and vibes were upscale and fun, we will definitely be back with more friends next time! Highly recommend checking it out.

We ordered a lot of different entrees and they were all really good. I recommend the lemon drop martinis and the lemon dessert. The views are amazing. Next time I will reserve a window table.

MDRD is an experience. I must say that first. We came here for a dinner with one of our larger clients and I absolutely cannot say enough about how wonderful every single aspect of this experience was. The staff is incredible, very professional, happy to answer questions and well-versed on the menus. We started with tapas; patatas bravas, shrimp and the charcuterie board and some fantastic cocktails. The presentation of the tapas was incredible; shrimp in the pan, potato cubes stacked on a wonderful sauce and a broad charcuterie board. Entrees were superb. We all got steaks with the exception of one who got paella. Again, the presentation and quality were superb. Nobody had complaints. The ribeye came sliced, the filet did not. The desserts were mind-blowing. They truly were pieces of art and we admired them before we ate them. The tree made of chocolate and cotton candy and the lemon on the branch were as tasty as they were visually appealing. I cannot wait to dine here again!
